Pick-n-Pull

Worst pick and pull you could ever imagine. If I could give a -1 rating, i would. Prices are…read moreabsolutely insane (wanted $40 for a plastic dash vent, I told them to keep it). Bad selection, car turn over is bad also. 1 good employee, rest suck. Stick to Sam's in Worcester ...... "pick n pull" locations are horrendous. The one in Johnston is no good either.

Any negative reviews are TOTALLY undeserved. This place is a great resource for anyone who works…read moreon their own vehicles. Realize that this is a SELF-SERVICE used auto parts operation, not a full-service auto salvage yard. If you want a higher level of service (answering of phones, ability to check inventory of specific parts, etc.), then go deal with a full-service salvage yard. Just beware that a full-service yard will charge higher prices than Pick-n-Pull, and will probably not let any customers walk though their yard. Furthermore, Pick-n-Pull is open 7 days a week, which is super helpful to those of us who work a full-time on weekdays. In contrast, most full-service auto salvage yards are only open five days a week, and if they are open on Saturdays, probably only half a day. Pick-n-Pull has a great website that allows you to search for a specific VEHICLE, at a specific location. But, it would be nearly impossible to inventory specific parts on each vehicle, as each vehicle has so many parts, and parts continually get removed. You can either look up a vehicle online, or stop at the customer service counter, and they will look at the computer for you. The search will tell you which row(s) the vehicle(s) are located in. You will then be handed a map of the yard; row numbers are marked on the windows of the first vehicle in the row. Once you find your vehicle (it's easy, as the rows are not super-long), you then see if the part(s) you need are still on that vehicle ... it's fun, kind of like a treasure hunt! Don't forget to bring your own tools. I saw some other customers with wheeled carts, for carrying lots of tools or larger parts. My visit Saturday was successful; I needed specialized parts for an instrument cluster. I originally tried to get them from a car dealership, but no local dealers had them in stock. I had the dashboard of my wife's car all apart, and didn't want to wait a few days for the dealer to order the parts. Then, I remembered Pick-n-Pull, and they ended up having four cars like my wife's car, with a lot of good parts among them, included the ones I needed. Mission accomplished! I found the building, grounds and yard to be well-organized, and employees were polite and helpful. Other reviewers who complained about the $2 yard admission fee ... c'mon, you can't even buy a cup of coffee for $2 nowadays (except Cumby's). But, if you register for Pick-n-Pull's rewards club (no cost to join), they waive the yard admission charge for members. Another thing I like about Pick-n-Pull is that the vehicles are already raised up, so you don't have to jack them up to get parts underneath the chassis. Besides being a good resource for used parts, I find it's a good resource to see how various parts are assembled/disassembled, which helps educate me about my vehicles.

Earlier today I went and browsed and grabbed a few small parts - wood trim, oil cap... And the stocky heavyset girl started checking my bag while I was waiting in line (before I even got to checkout counter) and she dumped my large toolbag out and found a battery ground cable and accused me of trying to steal it - It had been in there for months and was at the bottom of my bag. I told her that was mine and was in there long before - I was told they were goingn to charge me for it - I voiced my concerns bc they were essentially selling me my own property back. The manager then refused my sale, kept the battery cables and kicked me out! So long story short they stole from me. While there a customer asked the manager for a bucket to drain coolant and transmission fluids into and the manager told him to just drain it on the ground outside. No regard for the environment, treats customers like criminals, refuses business, and steals from customers - all in all a badly managed business

This is an amazing operation. They take a junk car in and the process begins. This whole operation run by the nicest people who go out of there way to help find what you need from their inventory or their affiliates. Never a wasted trip.
