Large refrigerated cases faced the street with a variety of fresh fish, shellfish and premade seafood items. In the back the kitchen and food prep were visible and completed restaurant or to go orders were queued at its own counter (though staff would drop off at your table). Prices were quite reasonable comparing them to other restaurants in the more touristy streets. Also the cashier was very friendly with both locals and visitors. My favorite was the razor clams followed by the mussels and fish soup. Each was nicely seasoned and good size/ meaty for the shellfish. A separate bowl was also provided to hold all the empty shells. The WCs were located down a spiral staircase in the rear of the restaurant and was tiny. Overall a great start to my eating in Brussels.

I loved them both, but since I was not sure I would ever get to try the Dutch style in my life-time and despite it being a bucket list food, I was so enormously grateful. Even more grateful because it tasted amazing. I plowed through more than one I must admit. I might never get to try it again so I had to get more than one. Don't judge me. LOL. Anyway, the lady that helped me once I had one of the pickled and one of the cured ones was very patient and very kind. She seemed genuinely interested in what I thought and listened to me as I gushed like a fan boy over their products. I will never forget that and I was very appreciative. The place is pretty close to central, downtown Brussels and it was nice to just go to a table out in a courtyard and enjoy one of the favorite things I had on that trip. It was awesome.

wow, what is there to not like about this place…read more first, let me tell you their service is exceptional and very friendly to tourists which is hard to get sometimes in the area. we put our name down an hr before our requested time and they were very accommodating to save us the table. we originally came for the famous moules frites. found out it was all sold out for the night and we were very disappointed. we still decided to stay and try Georges4 due to the glowing reviews. thankfully, we were not let down twice! my bf and i ended up ordering just a bowl of fish soup and the waterzooi which is a specialty at Georges. i've had waterzooi previously in Boston and wouldn't say i was a fan.. but wow, Georges' waterzooi definitely changed my impression on the dish entirely! the bowl came with 3-4 types of fish fillet accompanied by other small sea critters like baby shrimps and musles. the dish delivered such a fragrant ocean breeze and the flavors were spot on! the fish were not overcooked and simply to perfection! the fish soup was very delicious too! a little pricey but really worth it to try! it will set your benchmark for fish soup very high for future bowls lol overall, i would recommend georges IV if you're in gent! the seafood is super fresh! tip for travelers: they offer free wifi!

The rabbit meat was surprisingly tender and the stew/sauce added some nice flavor. For those who haven't had rabbit before, it takes kind of like chicken to be honest, just with smaller bones. I think the price was okay considering the quality and type of dish. The fresh grapefruit juice (€5.80) was very good too. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I was seated right away and the service speed was pretty quick. They have a decently sized indoor space as well as outdoor patio seating. The environment has a traditional Belgian restaurant/pub kind of vibe. Overall, Le Bistro has high quality traditional Belgian food in a pleasant setting and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area near Porte de Hal / Marollen.

The typical little French brasserie I guess I can't say A lot about how things normally are or go…read morein this restaurant since I went here during the annually 'braderie' event de Lille. During this weekend they have a little fixed menu.. I've read about the wines they serve but even the wines are narrowed down to red, white and rosé. And are all bottles drafted from the tap or cask, I'm not really sure if its the former or the latter since I've not seen them do this. But we had some insects in our bottle.. After giving the waiter notice our bottle was quickly replaced by a new one without any fuss. But it was possibly a bottle that stood outside the night before and wasn't properly washed before refilling. Anyway to get to the food, some of us had the moules or mussels which is a big thing in Lille at this annual event I've been told 500 tons of this stuff Is eaten, you can literally see them served anywhere at any price as low as 7€ for 1kg, but they are all little orange (French) mussels and I think they also use a B quality for the event. So I went with onglet a l'echalotte, onglet is a cut that nobody used to want.. It's cheap and most of the time the butcher himself took it home for that reason. But it has a lot of taste and when prepared properly isn't chewy as you might expect. I enjoyed it a lot, and was pretty happy with the choice I made. On the other hand the mayonnaise they served was a big disappointment, bad and thick. Fortunately I didn't need it, there was enough Charlotte sauce to accompany the fries. Overall an ok experience, but not a wow.
