I came here for dinner on one of my frequent business trips and sat outside. As the name of the restaurant would suggest, their wine list contains a list of about 10 Beaujolais wines (pretty extensive for the size of their wine list), along with some Cote de Rhones and a few others.
I ordered one of the restaurants specialties, andouillette grillee, and asked them to recommend a wine to go with it. They gave me the Cotes de Brouilly, a dry red wine served slightly chilled (which I appreciated, since it was a very hot day). I wasn't sure how much I liked it at first, until the food arrived. It was a great pairing.
They started me off with a small plate of aperitifs/hors d'oevures: 2 pieces of warm toasted bread topped with a delicious pate and a crusty gougeres. The gougeres was ok, but I really enjoyed the pate.
The bread they served was not great. The outside was not crusty, but was actually quite chewy, and the inside felt a little on the dry side. But I didn't come here for the bread so it wasn't a huge deal for me.
The andouillette, my main course, was a large sausage with a good texture - slightly chewy, with a little crunch from the casing. I liked the flavor, but it was a little too salty. The andouillette came with a side of potatos topped with bruleed cheese, a baked half tomato, and a baked egg custard stuffed with cauliflower (as do other main courses, I believe). They all tasted pretty good although not particularly special.
Overall a nice casual place for some decent food and wine. read more
