We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

The Pantry - I hadn't had Dutch apple pie since my days waiting tables at Denny's, in the '80s & this was well worth the wait.

So they sat us in one of the back rooms. I believe everything was from the Edwardian era. The room we were in had this beautiful fireplace. We were the only two people there. So we had excellent service and they were so sweet. They kept apologizing for the noise from the party. The menu was small but we tried to pick foods we've never tried before. Everything we had was very good. What I thought was cute was that at the end of our meal all the cooks and employees can to the room we were in put some tables together and sat to eat. They were having such a nice time together and it felt like we were having dinner with family. I'm sure they were taking a break before having the big party come in to eat after their drinks.

Mika was a wonderful host and we absolutely loved the mustard soup with eel and homemade fresh bread! The spinach and cheese ravioli was simply a party-in-your-mouth experience! We also ordered the steak and fries, while the steak was good, we absolutely loved the fries! I don't know what that used to make those fries, but it's the best I've ever tasted! My friend and I are were craving a mocha coffee and for some reason, there was none available from the shops we visited. Mike was gracious enough to make us some and it was simply DIVINE! We suggested she add this to her menu, especially since you can smell the rich fresh aroma of cacao that permeates throughout the area. The reason there's a strong chocolate scent, is there is a chocolate plant in the heart of the little village. Initially, we couldn't make out the scent but it only took seconds for our olfactory nerves to identify it, & signal that information to our brain! Outstanding service, food, price, & ambiance!

Most people dining were locals, which was a refreshing and interesting environment that fascinates me when traveling. The food was absolutely amazing - we had the fish entree and steak entree. The fish entree was honestly one of the best seafood dishes that I've ever had, perfectly cooked and with a great balance of flavors. The bearnaise sauce was insanely good as well. The people working here are so sweet and welcoming, and I think that this restaurant really reflects Haarlem as a whole - effortlessly charming and cozy.

We sat outside because it was almost warm enough in Holland ;), and everyone ordered a 3-course option. I had a lentil salad starter that was fantastic, a salmon entree that was good - not quite as cooked as I prefer salmon to be, and a creme brulee for dessert, which was off-the-charts fantastic. OFF. THE. CHARTS. CREME. BRULEE!! The wine selection wasn't quite as good as the food, but not bad. The ambience is perfect in this quiet, church-centered neighborhood, and I can't wait to go back and sit inside - because the interior looks super gezellig! A very good find.
