Great bar with all thinkable alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Very nice indoor seating possibilities followed by a huge all around open terrace shielded from the wind. And on the days the wind is not a factor you can sit outside the terrace with your feet in the sand ... it really does not get much better. On top of all this they have a great menu with very interesting and delicious dishes ... from fish to salads and pizza's. Everything is freshly made with exclusively organic and biological products from the region ... great! Last but not least, the service is very fast, personal and with a big smile. They have a wood oven and boast delicious pizza, we ordered an Margharita and a Vegetarian (there are only 3 choices), the margarita was 75% black underneath, and the cheese was totally hard and crunchy. My daughter eat around it but left most of it, if it was my dish I would have sent it back immediately, I wish I had asked her to do the same as it was a waste of of money. Mine was okay, but I prefer a thinner softer crust, this was really bland and OK for me, nothing special at all. Others at the table ordered the burger and the spear ribs and they were quite happy. They also had a board of cocktails, but when I asked for a Margharita, the waitress said, "we don't have any". So it was not my best day at Zuid. We come here often in the summer, and I feel like there use to be a more exciting menu, specially for a vegetarian like myself.

We walked up to The Fat Mermaid to look over a menu and, honestly, when I saw the Fat Mermaid Breakfast, we were sold. Asked for a table right then and there. Service was a little slow, I did make a note of that. It took a while for someone to come ask for our order. We were content to lounge on the patio and we didn't have anywhere to go, so we didn't really mind, but if you're in a hurry, I'd warn you about that. The food, however, was definitely worth the wait. I started with a cup of decaf coffee and an orange juice and then got the Fat Mermaid Breakfast (which, as you can see from the photo, is a veritable breakfast feast) and my friend got the Fat Frenchie (French toast). I was super pleased with my meal. The eggs were fluffy, the smoked salmon (possibly my favorite food in the world) was homesmoked and great, and I liked the assortment of breads. It's also worth noting that this is an excellent location. Right up on the beach so you can watch the waves roll in and the restaurant is well-furnished with many places to sit both inside and out.
