Came here for breakfast with the family as we were tired with the hotel breakfast. And we are sure glad we did. My daughter ordered the Chicken Avocado Omelette. She said it was really good. My wife had the Pannenkoek Banana Walnut. It was yummy. The portion was really big that we had to pack some for later. My son and I shared the Dutchman Platter sausage and eggs. It was also great. This place has a cute diner vibe. I went for brunch and was happy with my experience overall. I got their freshly squeezed orange juice, which was delicious, and their breakfast bowl. It had a very good flavour and I was happy with my choice. My partner got the chorizo benny and it was good as well. This place makes a good hollandaise sauce! Try something different for breakfast, and probably a little healthier. If you've got that craving for breakfast at a restaurant, a crêpe or "pannecoek" from here is not as heavy as pancakes. Their version of bacon is not as heavy or crispy (read: less fatty) - it's a pork shoulder roll sliced thin and fried. The atmosphere is clean and friendly. The coffee is good enough. 75 bucks for 3 basic breakfasts. 3/4 of the plate was cold soggy partially raw....what they call hashbrowns. Absolutely disgusting. All 3 if us ate the eggs only. What a waste of money. Coffee wasn't good. Service was worse. Had to hunt down the waitress to get cream and sugar for the coffee and utensils when the food came. Who forgets to give you utensils! The 2 girls working there didn't have a clue and actually told us there's no management. Um there's a huge problem. Cook could have cared less. Been years since we went out to ate. We had a family breakfast date at this location on Saturday - four kids under 9 and 5 adults. Denise was our server and her attentiveness and skill with our large, active group was outstanding. Disappointing. Split a BC Benny- packaged everything. Hollandaise sauce inauthentic, hash browns frozen and not even cooked, presentation = none. Two locations of De Dutch in Kelowna but you can find this franchise all over BC and Alberta. As for franchise/chain restaurants, this was pretty tasty. Admittedly I am a bit of a picky eater and pain in the bum. Though I'm nice about it, I never seem to order anything without asking that it's changed. This was no problemo here @ De Dutch when I asked for my strawberries to be rinsed off (I don't like the sweet syrup they sit around in), they came the way I asked. As Kris E. states (in a review of the other Kelowna location) breakfast was a '...tasty, carb-bomb...' Friendly staff, clean environment, clean washrooms - check check check. My first time here at De Dutch. I came here to meet a client for a meeting (his suggestion). Warmly greeted by the hostess and seated at a comfortable booth. Promptly offered a drink. Our server (Amy) brought the drinks. Very pleasant lady. She took our order. Great menu choices for breakfast... however I'm a bacon and eggs kind of guy so that's what I ordered. Happy to learn the offer gluten free bread - yes please. Our breakfast arrived within minutes - perfectly cooked and presented. Amy checked on us regularly. We could see she's managing a number of tables, maybe 7 or 9 tables. I'm a people watcher and she seemed to have and handle on all of us. I had a small issue with my bacon which I didn't like - I made Amy aware of the issue (first world problem at the end of the day). She was very apologetic, and when the bill came, she'd comped my meal. Oh. Being that this was a work related meeting, we also had access to free wifi via ShawOpen. Very convenient... I was happy that I didn't have to hotspot my laptop. In the end - barring #bacongate - I was really pleased with my service, with the staff, the food, and would happily come back. I normally write long and detailed reviews of the restaurants I go to. But I just don't want to with De Dutch. It is just too pricy for what you get. I didn't have a bad meal. It was adequate and nothing more. But for the prices they charge, I should have been happy with my meal and complimenting the chef. Instead, I left underwhelmed, still hungry from the small portion size and pissed off that I had paid a large bill for a meal that should have been served on a $5 menu in a fast food joint. I did not like the service at all! And the quantity of food they actually serve you is very little so the price is way to much. I had much trouble getting the attention of my server and frequently saw her eating behind the counter. I could also hear a lot of loud conversations coming from the kitchen. This is one of our local go-to restaurants. The food's good and fresh, and service is always friendly and helpful. It's a nice change from the usual breakfast places, and they have a good loyalty program. Before moving to Kelowna, we ate at the Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus in Calgary for years. This isn't quite as good as the Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus, but it's pretty close. read more

The food was definitely good and fresh. However stopped in here after a long morning hike with a ravenous appetite and left unsatisfied with the amount of food. Even without the particular appetite that morning, would say that the amount of food is a bit less than what I would expect at the same price point from other breakfast/brunch places. Worth the experience maybe of trying out their pannakoeken, if you like trying something different and possibly healthier than other alternatives.
