This location offers 24/7 gym access. However the key pad the last several months has been turn off. Access at times was by other members leaving the gym. The ymca and it's gym director are fully aware of the issue. The have yet to provide a working response to members between the hours of 8pm and 530am. The ymca is still taking members fees and still selling membership for this time frame. Knowing full well of the issue of NOT providing true access or provided any temporary means of access. I'm find the honesty and moral work ethic of the ymca questionable. read more

If I could give this location a negative star rating, I would. Below is the email I sent to their entire leadership team. I am not one of those people that proclaims, "the customer is always right." But for this employee to completely disregard me or how THEY were in the wrong, is beyond pale. I saw another review from earlier this month making complaints about the front desk. If this is the behavior that they condone, then their upcoming CEO needs to clean house. The billing representative that I sent the email to did reply and apologize. She had nothing to do with the incident. She also confirmed that I was correct about the matter. "Hello, I would like you all to know the reason for my cancellation. I was treated absolutely horribly today in your facility, primarily by the red headed lady working the front desk somewhere between 1 and 1:30 pm on 6/28/2023. I was first accosted by a middle aged, male employee from Mercy Health. He proceeded to tell me that I could not park where I parked. I parked in the first space on the side of the building. This is an important fact of information. That specific spot has no reserved sign or handicapped sign. I have parked there countless times in the past with zero issues. The red headed lady (RH) jumped on the bandwagon and proceeded to accost me as well. Both were making claims about it being a handicapped spot. I am sure that you are well aware of the ADA legislation and the federal requirements to designate a handicapped parking spot. That specific spot does not meet those requirements. I explained this information to them, but neither RH or the Mercy Health employee did not care to listen. The Mercy Health employee said some choice words (not important or memorable for this explanation) and went back inside. I then proceeded to scan for my children to enter. I was immediately reprimanded by RH telling me that I have to scan individually. I knew this as I have done this dozens of times. I told RH this and she said it doesn't match with whom I scanned. I thought momentarily of going into detail that I have all my kids' cards on my keychain and I scan them separately as they enter. Instead I forcefully asked them why they were giving me a hard time. RH stated that she wasn't and that I was giving the Mercy Health employee a hard time. I then cursed at her. Not acceptable and regrettable on my part. I was completely caught off guard with this debacle and lost my cool. This is when RH said that I could not go in for the day and that if I didn't leave she would call the police. I was absolutely flabbergasted. One of my children had already entered and I was attempting to get my child back and pushed on the bar and momentarily forgot that I couldn't open the gate without scanning. I was once again reprimanded by RH for not pushing on the gate. As I was leaving she said to me, "Have a nice day." I turned to her and told her the same, but I did add the f bomb to that. Once again, not my finest moment and not appropriate. That is when she said she was cancelling my membership. I have never been treated this poorly by people that I help pay for their wages. I have years of experience with customer service in a wide facet of positions for numerous companies. While I was certainly not polite, that does not excuse RH's reaction or her inability to de-escalate the situation. If I was receiving this email from one of my clients, I would definitely take some sort of action. I'm not implying that RH should be terminated or formally disciplined, but she should most certainly receive some form of action for her inexcusable behavior. This should go without saying, but I will be sharing this feedback with all the various review sites and social media. I will not be back and have already started a new membership with one of your competitors. And while I have your attention, I would also suggest you do something about the men that walk around butt naked for anything and everything, including, but not limited to: shaving at the sink Talking on the phone Using the swimsuit spinner Have a nice day!" read more

Wouldn't recommend working at this facility--or at least in the Youth & Teen Department. I worked here for 2 years and it was great until my former boss quit which left me with a nefarious lady and her little tag along bully who smokes dope. They will give you a terrible performance review even if you're a great worker and just your butt for the company and make you feel worthless as a worker and as a person then fire you when you stick up for yourself: which is exactly what happened to me. So much better off at my new job where I am appreciated for my efforts and not bullied and traumatized by a minimum wage job. If you're thinking of becoming an employee, do yourself a favor and run. read more

This is a fabulous YMCA! The facility is fantastic and up to date. We drive 40 minutes jut to go to this Y even thou we have a YMCA in our area. We have been participating in their swimming and diving classes for quite a while now. The pools and pool areas are very well kept. The staff is very nice. I believe I know who the other review mention. My initial experience was similar but I've come to realize she's not rude just very dry and maybe a little monotone when she talks so it comes across wrong. I don't know her personally so it's not like she's personable with me. All of the swim staff is awesome (Catherine, Christina, Dave, Dani to name a few). read more

The front desk is SO rude. It doesn't matter if you're a member or a guest. It took so many times of them speaking so poorly to me and treating me so bad for me to even consider leaving a review. I'm so compassionate to people having a bad day and understanding one person doesn't determine the overall experience of the business. However, even the main female manager treated me so terribly! I've been a member there for over a year. Bring multiple guests and have had 3 members sign up because I would bring them and they wanted to go to the same gym together. And every single time I bring a guest, providing the YMCA with exposure and money they treat me and my guest SOOOOO BAD. I still cannot believe it, and want to inform people so they know it's not you, it's THEM. When they treat you poorly know you're not the only one. I'm not sure why the ladies are so rude to guests or any questions about bringing guests but it's unacceptable and makes me not want to patronage here any longer. read more

I wouldn't go to the YMCA Boardman if it were the last gym on earth. For example, I am 62 with a torn ACL and two meniscus tears and I thought it would be great to take their water aerobics class. They advised me I was too young for silver sneakers and if I wanted a membership for my husband and I it would take an upfront fee as well as $100.00 dollars a month. I went to this gym about 10 years ago and no for a fact that they offer 3 month memberships. Those people hog all the equipment and take all the classes with just a three month membership. I am permanently disabled due to MS and the yoga classes did me a world of good but alas I will keep searching for a gym membership that is more in tune with my needs. read more

As a visitor to a YMCA with a current member I had to fill out an emergency contact form and get my picture taken. It was like I was entering a government secure facility and not a gym. Front desk lady is rude. Acted like she was better then us. It's a gym and a pool, not the pentagon. Completely ridiculous. I'm surprised they didn't ask for a blood sample too. Unreal!! read more

I wish I could give it 0 stars. They had been overcharging me almost double for 14 months and I've been off work hurt for 8 months now and both Melissa and Leslie hurt me emotionally and kept calling to harass me and blame me or someone or something else. The story kept changing. Dont keep calling me unless your going to fix the problem. My mom has also been called names by the front desk before. They wouldnt do anything when a older white male named mike use to sexually harass me or other women I talked to. One had it worse and he use to pull her hair!! He was temporarily banned and he still goes there now! I could go on ans on but today they lost an over 10 year member because of rude and careless workers. Thank you for the mental abuse. read more

Me and my family Love this Y. The pools are awsome and we have taken out of town family as guests. I have Silver Sneakers on my insurance so Its free. Great programs for all ages. Never had a problem with staff. It does take a little longer to sign in people that don't have a membership. And if you don't have a membership I think you have to be with a member to get a guest pass. It's not a. local gym you can just walk into without getting checked properly. It's not bad being my first time at a YMCA. Only thing I can think bad is the price but then again you get what you pay for.

I went in this afternoon to see about a visitor pass or temporary membership for my little boy. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude. I was astonished. She literally waved and said cheerful things to a couple of people, turned around and pretty much did everything in her power to get rid of me. It was really weird. And I am not smelly or ugly. :) It was just a really bad experience, so, fair warning. Mean mean front desk lady. That is all. read more

We absolutely love the Davis Family YMCA. They have terrific programs for all ages. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I'm usually there later in the day and can still get a fresh coffee in the office for a measly 50 cents. There's daycare, playrooms for all ages inside pools and outside pools. I have never heard of the YMCA not selling a day pass. This is an absolutely a ridiculous rule and I really feel sorry for the front desk person the has to convey this silliness. It's probably the only gym in America that I've ever seen not sell a day pass. I don't know what they think they have there. read more

The Davis Ctr/YMCA has recently raised its rates for members thru a mass mail out. My first bill for my daughter and me, including an initiation fee for one year was close to a thousand dollars. If your membership expires and you don't renew within their window, you'll have to pay another initiation fee to rejoin. The facilities are very nice...when they're working. It has taken weeks to fix multiple machines, and there are several times throughout the year when classes, construction, cleanings, etc. will close the pools, steam & sauna rooms, and jacuzzi. There is continual construction going on in the parking lot area, most commonly resealing and I'm writing this review from my home, rather than getting my workout in because there just isn't any place to park. This summer the outdoor pools were closed until 11am due to camps or sign up classes being held. The indoor pools, therapy pool, jacuzzi, and sauna rooms were all closed for 2 weeks for a mass cleaning in August. I've been so frustrated with this business that I've asked the front desk if I can get some kind of refund for the continual problems or facility shut downs that were selling points when I was checking into joining. They will sell you specifically on the pools....what they won't tell you is if they're short on life guards, there's a breakdown, classes are scheduled, or it's cleaning time, those pools are locked up or off limits. Especially the therapy pool. When I asked about a refund, of course I was told no way. It's a clean place and the members there are very kind, but after being a member for 4 years and counting, I'm going to be taking my money elsewhere when my membership expires. read more
