Since working with David I've felt more balanced in my body and life, and have become more self assured. He also is a wealth of information and introduced me to resources that has been very important to me and my development. I highly recommend Life Forces!

In our initial call, David claimed one session could cure my trauma. Already a red flag…read more When I arrived at my appointment, David led me to an empty floor of the building and an empty office. I did not feel safe. The first half (yes half!) of the session was David patronizingly explaining physical and spiritual concepts without soliciting feedback. I know what a chakra is. I know that the human body can carry an electrical current. I couldn't get a word in edgewise to say that, or to disagree with some of his wilder claims. The energy healing itself wasn't helpful for me, which is fine - clearly we weren't exactly vibing. My real complaint there is that I told him "This isn't really working for me," and he gave me this smug look and said, "Oh it's working." He also left the room for the last five or so minutes of the session without saying anything. I'd look for energy healing elsewhere.

Wendy's manner was excellent. She took time getting to know my history, habits, complaints and lifestyle before every treatment. Wendy's help and guidance over the past couple months have truly been an integral part of my healing process. I've been doing a weekly combination of acupuncture and reiki, and I highly recommend it. Even after a just a preliminary reiki session, I immediately felt more grounded and at peace, and my lower back pain was gone. Wendy took great care to thoroughly go over my physical and mental health history, as well as past and current life struggles before we began our sessions. She tailors each session accordingly, and very thoroughly explains her reasoning behind her decisions--it is so interesting and informative! She has provided me many helpful tips and tricks to take moving forward! Along with being an amazing healer, Wendy is such a kind, thoughtful, and caring person--I am truly lucky to have found her in my healing journey.

I knew I needed to get a massage, but I've tried a few places in Capitol Hill previously and the massages were not great. Thus, I expanded my search bubble and found Unwind AdMo, and I'm glad I did!!! Nina gave me the best massage I've ever had - her technique was amazing, I was never uncomfortable, she focused on the right spots to get those tight knots out, and she made me feel very comfortable. Pricing was right on par for DC too. I will always come to Unwind Wellness now - even though it's ~40 minutes by metro/walking away, compared to some local spots I could be at in 5 minutes. I'm even nervous to try their Unwind Navy Yard location...because I only want massages from Nina, she's that good.

If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.
