Pfeifer replaced my composite roof with a standing seam metal roof this winter. My experience was…read moreessentially perfect, or as perfect as one of the most stressful home purchases you'll make can be. I got four bids from local companies and while Pfeifer was not the cheapest, they had the best combination of knowledge, experience, and price out of the four. Sam's advice about the best underlayment and important details of the panel structure and flashing made Pfeifer stand out from the pack. Pfeifer scheduled the removal of my composite roof for the next time that the weather cleared. Hector and his crew were out here early every day, and they worked hard. They worked almost every day for about a week including coming in on the weekend when the weather allowed. Once the underlayment was on they waited about a week for the panels to get produced and delivered and then Hector's team was back out at my house daily for about two more weeks installing the roof. Higher level supervisors from the company like Christian, Martin and others were regularly in touch and visited several times to make sure that the quality of the installation was up to their standards. Since I don't really know much about roofs there were a couple times when I was worried about the way several details looked. Hector was consistently patient with my questions and every single time his explanation for how he was installing the panels matched or exceeded the manufacturer recommendations I found online. My roof is significantly more complicated than I appreciated at the start of the project, but by the end I was confident that each valley, pitch change, and vent was expertly flashed and sealed. There was a small amount of additional work that needed to be done around some siding on the house, and the quality and the cost of that work were both fair. Metal roofs are a craft, and the details matter for the roof's long-term performance. Once the roof installation was done I asked an expert roofer I know to come out and provide a consultation for me about the quality of Pfeifer's work. He doesn't think very highly of roofers in general, but he was quite literally floored by the multiple signals of extremely high quality work he saw on my roof. Hector and his crew are excellent at what they do, and the whole team at Pfeifer are professional. There is a reason that they have so few CCB complaints for such a long tenure as a company: you can trust Pfeifer to install your metal roof the right way.

I reached out through Yelp for estimates to replace the panel in my house and install a car…read morecharger. Scott quoted me 600-1500, and asked to come out the next day, not even looking at where I lived on a map. I couldn't do the next day and requested the following week, and he asked to come over the weekend. Then he increased his estimate by more than double, and made it sound like he was giving me a deal when he shaved a couple hundred off. After a lot of back and forth, he ended up saying he was coming and then not showing up just about 5 days in a row after realizing I lived further away than he thought and making excuse after excuse . He'd say he was coming, and text me 10 minutes before he said he'd be at my house telling me it wasn't happening, like I hadn't rearranged my entire day expecting him. To top all of this off, today I had to file a dispute against him with my credit card, because he's as of yet refused to refund me the $750 deposit he made me give him. He pushed me repeatedly to pay him via venmo or cash and now I'm SO happy I didn't because you can't dispute those payment methods. In the end, I got a different company to do the work for $2000, a full grand less than Scott quoted and it was done cleanly, quickly, and without issue. I would be extremely wary of hiring this company, they do not have it together.

He came out the next morning (Thursday) and estimated the job. His estimate was very reasonable, considering the extent of the job. The estimate included materials and labor for 42 squares of shinges, a synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield in the valleys, new flashing and edging all around, and a replacing all the roof vents and up to 2 sheets of plywood. The shingles are Owens-Corning Duration 40-year architectural shingles. The coming weekend was supposed to be rain-free, and I asked if they could start right away. He said he could start at 0830 Sunday morning. I picked the shingle color from a link on his website and printed off the contract he emailed me. He asked for half the fee up front. At 0830 Sunday morning he and his crew showed up at my house in Otis - an hour from his shop in Keizer. I gave Jason a check for half the bid and a signed contract, they climbed up the roof and started tearing it off. Jason estimated they would be done Tuesday evening. In a few hours they had half the roof torn off and had started putting on underlayment and the ice and water shield.. I had to leave on business. When I returned Wednesday afternoon the roof was done. It looks FANTASTIC! New metal edging all along the house, flashing in an area where there had been a leak, no more leaks around my gutters, some rotted fascia replaced and the whole thing cleaned up. Jason had sent me photos of the roof that morning, but in person was better. Jason also told me that an addtional 4 sheets of plywood had to be replaced. He also emailed me an invoice for the remainder of the bill. When it was all said and done there was an additional 1 hour of labor plus 4 sheets of plywood billed - an extra $205. Very reasonable for replacing the plywood, fascia, and a rotted 2x4. The next day his crew showed up again to re-clean. I had thought it was fine, but Jason had seen some things he thought needed cleaned up better. I sent the check for the balance with his crew. I would use Cravenho Construction again without hesitation. From contact to final clean-up was a week and they straight-up did everything they said they would do on time and for the amount we agreed upon. I couldn't be happier with this experience!
