I had a major water problem - water main leak, on Christmas Eve day! I spotted the problem as I was walking outside my home and noticed 4-6" of standing water at my foundation beneath my outside spigot. I ran inside the house and had my husband filling up buckets and any large containers I could get my hands on - I knew we had a major problem. A couple of my neighbors came out to help me, lifted the lid on the water meter underground compartment and noticed the meter spinning like crazy. I knew I'd never find a plumber that night so I called the emergency number for the City Water Dept.; they had a rep at my house within 20 minutes. He confirmed it was a water main leak and, unfortunately, it would be my bill to fix it. I had him just shut off the water and told him I would use what water I had collected for flushing toilets and washing dishes until I could reach a plumber. Christmas AM, when hearing of my problem, my neighbor offered me their hose over our connecting fence and also gave me the number of a plumber they had recently used. At this point, either no plumber answered my calls or they were booked with other emergencies. I called DC Plumbing (Dave Camm), left a message-he called me back in 10 minutes and said he could be out to assess the problem between 11 AM & 2 PM if that would work for me. He showed up at 10 AM, spoke with my neighbor with a temp. solution - hook my spigot to her spigot to give me hot/cold water for 24 hrs. until he could get out to trench my situation @ 7:30 AM next day. She was fine with that. Dave arrived on time the next AM, disconnected the spigots and dug the trench from the meter to our water line and found that a coupling had a crack and the crack had migrated down the line, creating the constant leak. Job done by 1 PM! He had a solution to give me hot water for the first time in 5 days, prompt and professional, very fair pricing (he even installed my garbage disposal while he was on the job); I know why my neighbor referred him and I will tell anyone who asks - call Dave of DC Plumbing. He will definitely be my go-to plumber from this point on. He also has the most wonderful dog who rides "shot gun" in his truck! So...I normally don't write reviews unless it is a really bad experience or really great experience. And as far as DC plumbing and Dave, I cannot be happier. There is not enough good things to say about Dave. In the past 5 years since moving to San Marcos, I have have hired him to replace my water heater, replace my water regular, and an emergency visit to fix a busted pipe which resulting in water in the entire house shit off. Every single time Dave was prompt to respond my call, gave a reasonable and accurate quote, and has always been on time and completed the work quickly with good workmanship. Aside from the above, I want to highlight a few items why I am so satisfied as to not only write a review but leave a 5 star review: 1) Although Dave is casual enough to make you feel like you know him, he is extremely professional when it comes to his work. Communication is prompt, work has always been completed above expectation for me, and he truly knows his trade. 2) He has great prices for his services. Trust me. I am one to get at least a few quotes, and he never price gouges, and is a Steele for the quality of workmanship he provides. He is also great about calling back and checking to make sure everything is still good and no further issues. 3) There have been multiple times where I have called him to ask a question about something, and he has given me advise without any expectation in return. Another 5 star experience with Dave at DC Plumbing. I needed a toilet replaced, and he was able to find time in his busy schedule to fix it the same day. WOW. He and his apprentice were on time, ready with supplies, and worked efficiently but carefully. I had a rusted out flange which was not expected and they took their time to explain what that meant, and the options for fixing. I cannot recommend a more upstanding, straightforward company. As Dave and Tom were working around the house, they also mentioned areas that were outdated and could potentially need attention in the future. This is useful for me, because I have only lived in this house for 2 years, and who really has time to keep up with all the advances in plumbing and valves and such. Again, Dave was up front, no mickey-mousing around and above all else a pleasure to have working on my house. I know he does all kinds of jobs, from custom to routine (like my job). Dave Camm, owner of DC Plumbing, just finished a big job for me. He replaced the main gas line to the house, about one hundred sixty feet of gas line. A deep trench had to be dug and his assistant Manny was the best, most professional trench digger I have ever seen. The operation was seamless from the minute I called Dave and left a message with my information. He promptly called back and began the job within two days. He was conscientious about making sure to complete the job before the rain arrives this weekend. This was crucial because we couldn't afford to let the coming rain undermine the open trench on a downhill slope to the street. He completed the job in record time and waited for the city to arrive and sign off on the permit. Manny came back to do the backfill and both Dave and Manny left the property in pristine condition with no debris left over and a smoothly raked result. I could not be happier I found Dave Camm. Incidentally, I had been without heat or hot water for 6 weeks while I fussed around with big plumbing companies who could not remember my name or my project, even though I spoke with them often on the phone. One company sent four different men to my house at different times, each was to handle some small part of the job. After being totally frustrated, I decided to move on and look for someone in which I had more confidence.
