He gave me a quote of $3400 and said it would take one or maybe two days. We were in a hurry to get it done before the holidays so he agreed to come that Sunday, first thing. (He didn't get the right permits or do the survey required for burying electrical cable like he's supposed to do). We paid him the $1700 deposit, thinking he needed to rent equipment or whatever. The night before the job, the HOA changed its mind, and I had to cancel the project. I contacted John and explained the situation as soon as I heard. He didn't have to do a single thing. He didn't even have to come out to my location. When I asked for my deposit, he refused at first. At no time did he say it was a non-refundable deposit. You have to disclose that in writing before you can keep someone's deposit. I wouldn't have paid him the money if I had known he would pull this. I had even offered him $200, plus I'd cover any expenses. After negotiating with him for weeks, he agrees to pay the deposit back. He said he would Zelle $1200 that day. He sent $500 and lied about Zelle not letting him send more. It's been three months, and he refuses to return the money. At this point, it becomes both a criminal and civil case. I'm filing charges for larceny and taking him to court for the remainder. We gave him every chance and even offered to finance a payback schedule.

They showed up a day late without so much as a courtesy call to let me know they weren't going to make my appointed day/time. When they finally cut my tree down, when it fell it destroyed a floral arrangement I had. They went and replaced the wood but it wasn't until later that I saw that they didn't replace all of what was destroyed. They did a horrible job of cleaning up and left my yard in complete shambles. My sidewalk and driveway are permanently scarred and chipped. Dale tried to assure me the long marks would 'wash off' but it's permanent damage. Dale got very belligerent with me as l pointed out the damage they caused. I had to sternly tell him he needed to lower his voice and calm down. As if that wasn't bad enough they left 80ft of timber in my yard for a week and a half. After waiting the 2 or 3 days Dale said it would take I began calling them daily. He stopped answering my calls altogether. I left message after message without hearing back. Finally I got through after remembering that dialing *67 hides your number. This trick worked as Dale answered and I told him he needed to come get these logs as it was killing my grass and well past the 2 or 3 days he said it would take. He yelled back at me telling me and I quote 'there's nothing like I can do' I told him to come get the logs or I was seeking legal action for the logs amd the damage to driveway and sidewalk. He hung up in my face but an hour later a guy shows up to take the logs. I do not recommend these guys as they are unreliable and not true to their word. Yes my tree is gone but the damage they left wasn't worth the cheaper price I paid. Not at all! CAVEAT EMPTOR....BUYER BEWARE!!!

I used Georgia Landscape for about 15 years for firewood but they stopped offering that service…read morelast year, so had to find another provider. The wood that I got from the provider last year was just fine but It wasn't a true cord. The big deal to me is when ordering a cord-what are you going to get? You'll find plenty of companies that deliver "by the truckload" and by "half cord/cord", etc. However if they tell you that they are selling a "cord" of wood, it is critical to know how they measure that cord. A true cord is 4'x4'x8' or 128 cubic feet. A typical full size pickup truck with 8' bed will hold at most about 1/2 cord. A "face" cord is 8'x4' with a typical length of wood about 16". So with a face cord you are only getting about 1/3 of a true cord. Be very careful and ask exactly what their definition is of a cord and only pay for what you want and expect to get. Now to Champion Yard Services. I found them on my Nextdoor App where they advertised the sale of wood. They showed pictures of the wood (like many companies do) and quoted prices for different sizes-1/2 cord, full cord and what it would cost to either deliver and stack, deliver and carry to a place not directly where they bring the truck to, or self pickup. They indicated that the cord size was a true cord or 4'x4'x8'= 128 cubic feet All costs were clearly disclosed-they hid nothing. I emailed them 2 times to make sure that the cord was a true cord in measurement and they assured me it was, so I ordered 2 cords and asked them to look at Google maps so they could see that my driveway was on a hill and my stacking point was up 12 steps and about 45 feet from the parking area. In other words, not the easiest delivery and I held my breath hoping that I'd get what I was paying for. They delivered as scheduled, one day after the order was made. The 2 cords of wood were in "cages" exactly as shown on the website and the wood was exactly like the pictures-no "file" photos-no tricks. In addition they sent 4 guys to haul the wood to my backyard. It wasn't an easy job (I've done it many times myself) and the guys worked very hard for about 2 hours without any complaints-very nice guys-all pleasant and very polite. The next day Jimmy the owner called to make sure that I was happy with the wood and the delivery. I can say without question I got exactly what I hoped to get-2 cords; the wood is clean, appears to be aged at least a year, no "scrapes" or tiny pieces of wood, no filler wood (pine) and exactly the length that was expected (about 16"-18"). I paid what I think was a fair price for the wood and the labor. I recommend them without any hesitation and will use them again. I hope that your experience will be as good as mine--

After meeting with myself and another individual to go over project, contractor provided quote. We accepted quote, paid for material and he constructed the fence shown below (it is the one without paint). He did not replace gate AND did not install fence to match the adjacent fence that surrounds the entire yard. Then wanted payment AND WOULD NOT FIX. Contractors need to do what they say and not expect that the client accept their shoddy work done as "they always do it". That is just NOT acceptable and should not be up to Yelp's standards. BUYER BEWARE!!!! How can value even be determined if they don't do what you request????
