Outside of the wedding, all my interactions with the staff were kind. The room itself was clean and comfortable, albeit a bit dated. I did get to utilize many of the amenities due to wedding festivities but the pools looked wonderful. Overall, a very good stay although the price felt a bit steep, even after the wedding block discount.

The room smelled funny. On top of that, the cabinet door in their bathroom fell and hit our kid. Unbelievable! The front desk told us our room was indeed cleaned, but when we actually had our room cleaning service the next day, we were finally given a bar of soap and the room actually smelled nice. Makes us wonder if our room was never cleaned when we first checked in. All their amenities, other than the swimming pool and gym, is actually surprisingly small. We drove 6 hours and took time off work to attend a wedding to be left without power for 3+ hours... who knows when it will come back on, we're going to sleep. It may sound like hyperbole but I never had this problem in any hotel in Zimbabwe, Ghana, or other developing countries with spotty grids in all my years of traveling. There are generators keeping the Friday night wedding dance floors lit but all the rooms are dark. Keeping it two stars because the food and service is great! Now I'm hoping the power doesn't come until The morning so when inevitably all the lights and systems whirl to life my sleeping toddler doesn't wake with a fury that can't be put back down.

The pool was awesome, they had a fish tank that's built into a wall in the pool very cool. The outdoor spring pool was a definite awesome hot spring where the warm water clashed with the cold winter outdoors. It was a lovely relaxing long weekend, the room did show some signs of age but it wasn't anything that took away from the experience. Grounds were pretty, the pools, hot tubs and areas were clean and nice. Goes to show that you really can't go off the stars on yelp. This is our new winter getaway

It happens, I guess. Room 19, on the second floor, seemed like a standard cheap motel with the vague scent of smoke lingering in the air. There was no way to lock the door from the inside: The doorknob lacked the locking notch, and the door chain was broken and had nothing to connect it to the door. Pretty sketch! We started watching Netflix on the big flat-screen TV, using our own sign-in. My partner got up and came back to catch her leg on a sharp piece of the metal bed frame, causing her to bleed. Feeling uneasy about spending the night there, we decided to leave. However, no one answered the bell at the front desk or the phone. Upon arriving home at 2 a.m., I emailed the motel to let them know all of the above. They refused to issue a refund, claiming that someone was there and that I hadn't attempted to contact them. (My credit card company took up the dispute.) Having stayed at ramshackle lodgings, luxury suites and everything in between on my travels around the world, this is one of the most memorable stays I've ever had. And not in a good way. Buyer beware.

The staff overall was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was good, and my kids especially loved being able to make their own waffles and choose what they wanted that was definitely a highlight for them! I really appreciated that the room had a microwave and fridge, which made traveling with kids much easier. The beds, sheets, and towels all seemed clean and comfortable. The only downside was that I wish the room had been a bit cleaner. We found some dust bunnies near the desk, and the bathroom lighting was very dark, which made it a little concerning after noticing the dust. Overall, it was a convenient stay with kind staff and good amenities, especially for families visiting Mountain Creek.

However I made sure to note that I would be traveling with my service dog when I booked and was told that there were complaints with me using the breakfast room. However I only used it once during the time I was there and only when it was empty. (There was a couple finishing up and leaving.) otherwise it always had people so I avoided it. When I explained that he was a service dog and I needed him with me, I was told "well he's still a dog" and was dismissed. So yea I couldn't use the breakfast room which made staying here pointless. I could've gone somewhere cheaper that didn't offer food. Other than that I was mostly in and out so can't really complain. Maybe about the random guys yelling and running in the halls at some 1-2am. The staff just needs to educate themselves a bit more regarding things like this. Because I couldve been a total b***h and explained that it was illegal to turn me away and blah blah blah but it honestly wasn't worth the fight and I just decided to check out early instead.
