    The sticky Bible

This place is terrible. As we walked in our room we got hit by unhinged cigarette smell. I wanted to talk with Jesus tonight because I was real happy to see a bible. As I pick up the bible I feel the stickiest, nastiest, unhinged sticky substance. I forgot my charger so I made my dad go get it out of the car and as a he was walking down a cop pulls up on the side of the building. Also I saw a roach in the bathroom. We were up all night because our neighbors could not stop yapping(talking). But we did eventually go to sleep. We got up and went and ate breakfast. The breakfast was pretty good nothing bad to say about it. Anyways dont go here.

    it's ok.

When we open the door to our room there was a woman and small child in it.Scared the crap out of everyone involved.Seems it was computer error.Staff did not seemed concered. That should have been when we left, but we were tired.Blankets and sheets had holes and stains.Tub and shower curtain was dirty and molded.Good hot water and pressure, bed was comfortable, mattress was clean. The free breakfast was good. The only other thing which is not hotel's fault was city has a project going on next door and was at it all night with big equipment.Could use more outside lighting. If you just want a place to stay for night its ok.

Forgot to mention television not level!

Bathroom shower/ floor dirty . Microwave and fridge on floor. Unsanitary and not up to Days Inn standards!! I WILL be writing a letter to cooperate. Tim Smith and Sharon Kelley RM 208 Dare: 9/24/16

Staff were friendly and accommodating, but the room was dirty! There appeared to be mouse dropping or bugs when I pulled the sheets back. They quickly moved me to another room but it was still dirty. There were small blood droplets that looked smeared on the bathroom tile floor. Needless to say, I took my travel pillow out of my car to use and I never let my feet touch the carpet or tile without my shoes on. I refused to use the shower.

This place was cheap and I didn't want to kill myself after staying here. There were cigarette burns in my comforter but that was all part of the charm. Things were clean but nowhere near renovated. There was a fridge and microwave in the room.

Not bad for the price and they had free breakfast. Could use updated. For a place to sleep while you on the road you get a good deal.

Trying to plug my electronics into the wall outlets was disappointing because the sockets were loose and my plugins were not in tight. My side of the bed only had one plugin that I needed to use for my sleep machine. My iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch all had to be plugged into different outlets scattered about the room. The Hampton Inn and Suites we stayed at in Effingham had a good size mini fridge and ample plug-ins on my side of the bed so I could keep everything at my fingertips. I had brought an extension charger but didn't need it so packed it away before coming to Cullman where I could have used it. My biggest complaint is the beds use to be so comfortable with feather light fluffy comforters. That is not the case anymore. Almost feels like Hilton has downgraded their Hampton Inns, which use to be my fav lace to stay world-wide but I'm thinking I need to check out some other brands. The room is clean but don't feel like I would want to walk on the carpet barefoot.

Being right in downtown makes it easy to step out for dinner, coffee, or a quick wander, while still driving out to explore the rest of the area. It feels central, intentional, and elevated without trying too hard. The suite is where it really shines. It has the polish of a boutique hotel but the space of an Airbnb. Separate living area, king bed that feels indulgent, private balcony, and design details that actually feel curated. Plush robes, premium bath products, Dyson hairdryer, stocked minibar, a mini refrigerator AND freezer, two oversized smart TVs, fast WiFi. Nothing feels like an afterthought. And I have to mention the Nespresso machine. Not a Keurig. A Nespresso. Morning coffee felt like a ritual, not a compromise. Dinner downstairs at Jubilee Kitchen and Bar made the stay even better, and we absolutely visited Seven Daughters Scoops more than once. I stayed at this hotel for an extended period of time because it was the only extended-stay hotel…read morein Cullman. However, I would never go back. I have stayed at a lot of Home2 Suites hotels. This is one of the worst. The rooms are poorly constructed. The hotel was not much over a year old when I stayed there, yet the floors were already settling (sloping) to such a degree that the bathroom door got stuck on the floor. Bathroom tiles were loose, and the grout was crumbling. Bits of it came out from between the tiles and got stuck to my feet whenever I used the toilet. There were large gaps all around the heat/AC units under the windows. On cold, windy days, strong drafts blew into the rooms (I stayed in a one bedroom suite), making it impossible to stay warm. These gaps did not appear to be the result of damage, but rather poor construction. The hotel hallways have powerful ventilation units in the ceilings. One of these was located right outside my room. According to hotel maintenance, these units blow outside air into the hotel. Unfortunately, people in the neighborhood like to start large outdoor fires, especially at night. They do this frequently. These fires create a lot of smoke, and the hotel ventilation system blows this smokey air into the hotel. The door to my suite was loose in its frame, and there was nothing I could do to prevent my living space from smelling like smoke all night. It was unpleasant and definitely unhealthy. Whenever I ran any of the water -- faucets, toilet, or shower -- and it was cool outside, a terrible, literally eye-watering stench rose up from the drains. I think the cause was poorly installed plumbing vents. I've never experienced anything like that at any other hotel, apartment, or house in which I've lived. I reported the problem to maintenance, but apparently nothing could be done about it. Speaking of maintenance, it's hotel practice for them to "clean" the parking lot every few days. By clean, I mean that they blow the dirt off the pavement and up into the air with a leaf blower. Then they hope it blows onto someone else's property, but in practice, a lot of it ends up on the parked vehicles of hotel guests. I made repeated requests to maintenance not to blow dirt on my car, but to little effect. Finally, most hotel staff are rude (for example, the general manager and the man who cooks breakfast) or indifferent (almost everyone else). Marichu, who worked the front desk, was very nice, as was the housekeeper who worked on my end of the 4th floor while I was there. Unfortunately, a couple good employees cannot make up for the problems at this establishment.

Why did this property lose two stars? 1, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've slept in in years. You'd think that a newer property would have newer mattresses. This one had no cushioning. It wasn't a firm mattress, it was just awful. 2. The bathroom didn't vent. After an average length shower with not too hot water, there was standing water on every surface in the bathroom. The floor was slippery and so was everything else. I would not choose to stay here again but it wasn't horrible.

But today's the day that it's come to that. The property is BEAUTIFUL, very nice and updated and smells wonderful. Front desk staff was curt and impersonable, but got the job done and sent me on my way, so whatever. Room was not clean sadly. Brown stains on shower curtain, pubic hair (plural) on the wall, and a dirty rag hanging on the shower rod. People were blaring loud music, running up and down the halls, and slamming doors until 12:30 AM. I usually love a Continental breakfast (I mean free breakfast? What could be better?) but this was probably the worst I've had. The bacon was translucent and seemed barely cooked... kinda a health hazard. Overall I just don't feel that this hotel lives up to the Marriott standard that I hope to see when I travel, as I do often. Will not stay again and encourage others to do the same.
