Bad experience.....Campers be advised: -Bathrooms and…read moreshowers are only for "tent sites" even though we were told over the phone they would be available (lies) -They ran out of water the first day and on second day the Water truck charged us $50 to fill our pool half way. Guy was nice but owner made the water guy leave our pool to go fill someone else's. -Was scolded and told we couldn't drive to the bathroom building and needed to walk through the mud to and from across the camp ground by the jerk who runs the grounds. Female owner apologized on his behalf but he should have been a man about it and realized he was being ridiculous. -"Free shuttle" is non existent instead needing to pay $5 per person each way to the festival for a ride. -Any rain at this place turns the whole grounds into a washed out mud pit. -Was charged for parking passes even though we paid for a site and a camper (How on earth else would we get there and park) -Discussing pricing with our neighbor campers revealed we were charged more money than them for absolutely no difference in stay. Lots of promises and amenities were listed that were in fact not present or mislead upon arrival. Overall I would not recommend this place.

A mile off I-65 exit 291. Easy in, easy out. Gas and diesel located at the exit. Gal who greeted us was very pleasant. Directed us to a pull through site with water, 30/50 amp, and sewer. Great spot for an overnight! Peeked into the laundry room which had several washers and dryers. Ladies restroom looked like it has been updated with nicely tiled showers and new curtains. My husband said the men's needed updating. I gave it three stars because I feel it's still a bit of a diamond in the rough. However, I can see work is being put into the campground and facilities. For an overnight, it was perfect!

The views are absolutely beautiful, the amenities are plentiful, and everything feels so well planned and inviting. The owners were some of the nicest people we've ever met. They were incredibly helpful with directions (we may have gotten turned around a couple of times since it's a bit secluded and we arrived after dark), and they made the whole experience feel welcoming and stress-free. Even in just one night, we could tell this is a special place. We would absolutely stay here again if we're ever back in Alabama!

Bama Campground and RV Park - A Hidden Gem Near Bankhead National Forest…read more We had a wonderful stay at Bama Campground and RV Park. The owner and his grandson were incredibly welcoming and hospitable, greeting us personally and making sure we had everything we needed--even sharing a personal phone number in case we needed anything. The gravel sites are well-maintained and spacious; ours was a generous 32'x60' and backed up to peaceful trees. Full hookups with 50/30 amp shore power made setup easy. The park is clean and quiet, with a small general store onsite that the owner offered to open if we needed anything. Pet owners will appreciate the nice dog park, and while we didn't use the shower room or laundry facilities, they're available for guests. It's also conveniently close to Bankhead National Forest, making it a great base for exploring the area. We spoke with a few extended-stay guests who had nothing but praise for the park and its management. Overall, a great spot with genuine Southern hospitality. Highly recommend!

You do not need another reason to visit Cullman. This is the reason…read more We stayed two nights at The Flying Fifty Hotel, and it completely made the trip. Being right in downtown makes it easy to step out for dinner, coffee, or a quick wander, while still driving out to explore the rest of the area. It feels central, intentional, and elevated without trying too hard. The suite is where it really shines. It has the polish of a boutique hotel but the space of an Airbnb. Separate living area, king bed that feels indulgent, private balcony, and design details that actually feel curated. Plush robes, premium bath products, Dyson hairdryer, stocked minibar, a mini refrigerator AND freezer, two oversized smart TVs, fast WiFi. Nothing feels like an afterthought. And I have to mention the Nespresso machine. Not a Keurig. A Nespresso. Morning coffee felt like a ritual, not a compromise. Dinner downstairs at Jubilee Kitchen and Bar made the stay even better, and we absolutely visited Seven Daughters Scoops more than once. If you have been waiting for a sign to book a weekend in Cullman, this is it.

My partner and I stayed in the vintage airsteam Tonomo and other family members stayed in the three other living spaces (one other airstream and two suites in the main buildings). Everything was well thought out, comfortable and beautiful. Smith Lake itself is a treasure and I will remember early morning paddle boarding as one of my favorite Alabama experiences. Kayaking, swimming, tubing and floating are great too. Alex and Jim, the husband and wife who own and run the B and B, are what really stand out. From stellar breakfasts, interesting conversation and a wealth of tips about the area, these two are charming and knowledgeable hosts. A wonderful combination of private and social spaces and sunsets that I will remember for a long time. I strongly recommend this as a true get away.
