My kitty, Finley is doing remarkably well ever since switching over to holistic care at All…read moreCreatures Wise and Wonderful. Last spring, he got extremely ill and tested positive for a fatal retrovirus. We thought he was a goner. The conventional vets pretty much gave up on him and told me to consider euthanasia. Finley bounced back after we put the prednisone in the trash bin and instead gave him some Acemannan "inner leaf" aloe and CBD oil from Pet Releaf. He started seeing Dr. Matthews after this (early last spring). She tested all of his food, and medicines to make sure they agree with him. She recommended a limited raw food diet, continuing with the aloe and CBD, as well as monthly acupuncture treatments. Dr. Matthews has a way of communicating with the animal, understanding their backstory and knowing what they need. It seems a little hocus pocus but you can clearly see the animal responding. She was also trained as a conventional vet. She has a lovely side-kick named Dee Dee, who does Reiki and just loves up the animals during their procedures. Dee Dee gives Finley "cookies" and places a scarf over his head so he feels secure, (and looks like a baby babushka). Finley does get very stressed from the travel so Dee Dee's relaxing and loving energy has been especially helpful. The office also provides 'acupuncture' treatments over telehealth. Don't ask me how this works, but it DOES. Since Finley started as a patient, he has been acting happy and healthy, getting into lots of mischief, "helping" around the house, and posting his latest thots to Instagram. He does have a bit of a "herx" reaction which lasts about 2-3 days after each appointment, but I assume this is a good sign.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about. THAT is service, THAT is being considerate and THAT is appreciated.

No wonder vets across the country are suicidal! They want to help animals, but prices are sky rocketing and people move onto where they can afford. Very nicely I asked her 2x if she can give me a BALLPARK price of what neuter for a male cat costs at their clinic. She tells me she can give me a price of an office visit. ??? Is that what I asked? You do not recall 2-3 different totals for a neuter to give a client an estimate???? As in it's in 200's it's in 400's - so a person has SOME idea what you charge? You are a very rude little b---c and if I'd fire you if I was the vet and you cheated me out of that much income. This review is solely for today's gatekeepers, not to reflect on the vets or nurses

I recently transferred the care of my pets to the Longmeadow Veterinary Clinic. While this…read morelocation is new, the underlying practice has three other locations. That gives some depth and maturity to the practice as a whole. I like having the option to be seen at one of the other nearby locations if necessary in a minor emergency. The problem with my old vet is that the practice is overbooked and is now limited to only wellness care. I attended a pre-opening open house for Longmeadow Vet Clinic and was impressed that the office is well equipped and is not limited to only having simple exam rooms. My transfer to Longmeadow Vet Clinic was well rewarded recently when my elderly dog suddenly developed drooping in one eye, together with a retracted eyeball. His eye looked truly awful. My first concern was that one of the two cats I had adopted a month earlier had gone for his eye. Oddly though, my dog wasn't in any pain. I was able to book an appointment with Dr. Jost for the very next morning. Readers from this area will know what it's like to wait in the local pet emergency room for 24 hours, so I was already very favorably impressed. Dr. Jost gave my dog an extremely thorough examination that was entirely on par with what I would expect from a good human ophthalmologist. Ironically, I would not have received as good care, as promptly, and for so low a cost from my own general practitioners at Trinity Health. I will mention here that I'm a retired attorney who attended the first two years of medical school before changing to law. I had consistently performed at the center of the bell curve, but just didn't like medicine. So, I'm often critical of physicians and other health care providers, but not here. We have a terrible shortage of good general practitioners here in western/central Massachusetts. Maybe veterinarians should be allowed to treat humans.

We switched from Salmon Brook to Simsbury Vet on advice of a friend with an eccentric dog. Our…read morehappy-go-lucky lab had developed severe separation anxiety and was destroying house and home. Salmon Brook put him on antidepressants which didn't help and instead caused seizures. They then said we needed to take him for a psych eval to Tufts. Dr. Potter diagnosed our boy in a very short time. She noticed how he shivered slightly when she touched his spine or ribs, the bowing of his spine, and said that he was in severe pain. He'd hide the pain when he was with us, but when we weren't with him, it was agonizing and he'd destroy out of the pain. She prescribed mild pain relief and glucosamine. In a matter of days, he was back to his old self. After that, we permanently switched to SVP. I like having the same docs, especially Dr. Korton. They have a great bedside manner and are very pet-savvy. Salmon Brook has had a lot of turnover since one of their founders died a few years ago. It's not the same level of care that we used to see, and their prices are crazy. Four years ago, our beloved pup stopped eating. Dr. Korton saw him right away, and ran some tests. Within a few days we found out that he had a massive tumor blocking his intestine. We had no choice but to put him to sleep as it was inoperable, and he was 13 years old and weak. Dr. Korton was kind and understanding. The entire staff said goodbye to our pup as they'd gotten to know him over the years. The process was gentle and pain free, and Dr. K. gave us all of the time and space we needed to say goodbye. We even were able to leave through a side door as to avoid reception after he was gone. When we adopted a new lab rescue, SVP gave him a full workup and found out that he had scabies when we'd been told it was just a mild skin abrasion. When he suddenly put on weight and started to lose fur, we were concerned it was scabies again, but it was underactive thyroid which again Dr. K diagnosed right away. The staff is wonderful, but the vets make this practice. It is an old-time practice where the docs KNOW the pets and take the time to see them, not just run tests. We've boarded here many times and our dogs have been healthy and cared for. I've had labs for 30 years and am thrilled to have a vet I can trust who explains things clearly to me. Dr. K has even taken my sons for tours "backstage" and let them look in microscopes. I can't say enough about this wonderful team of very clever vets. We've been with them now almost 10 years, and have recommended them many times to friends who have been equally thrilled with the care and diagnostic abilities of the SVP team.

He gives her kisses, which he won't give me. When we don't go there for a week, he is very antsy, like he has missed seeing her. He is doing so much better, will even run a little with me. I can't speak to the actual grooming but 0 stars for the owner's attitude. My dog came to get…read moregroomed and I let the receptionist know that he does not do well with other large dogs, that he's not aggressive but overly enthusiastic and it creates tension w other dogs. The staff at the groomer tried to put him in a temporary corral as opposed to a crate. I spoke up that this didn't seem safe for my dog because he could climb over or jump out (he's a large dog) and that I'd prefer him to be crated so he's safe from other dogs. Both the staff and the owner treated me like I was being unreasonable or some kind of jerk for not consenting for him to be kept in such a way. When the customer behind me asked what was taking so long I said I was waiting for them to have a crate for him bc he wouldn't be secure in what they suggested, the owner came out to tell me to stop talking bad about her employees. I'm not really sure if this was an off day for them or something but it was an incredibly negative interpersonal interaction and I won't be going back to this groomer. I also watched 2 dogs escape out the back door (which the owner told my husband I lied about). So: I waited about 7 mins to be checked in, rang the bell and watched utter chaos unfold in the back room. An electrician was working on a ceiling light above a corral w 2 small dogs. The electrician went to leave and the owner tried to move the corral to scoot it over to allow the electrician out the door but the dogs escaped under the corral and ran out the back door. The owner of Valley dog then went out the same back door you can see from their check in screaming for the dogs to get inside. Then several minutes later she finally addressed me waiting. This corral is (per both receptionists) is the same corral they wanted to use for my 100 pound dog. The owner tried to pack peddle and say that no, it wouldn't be the same corral but yes it's the same height and material and weight. Same corral. Overall a very negative experience and a huge waste of time. In addition the woman seemed exceptionally immature and unprofessional and then was talking about me to other customers. Update: the owner just called my husband and told him to take my review down. She also impotently threatened legal action if we refused. To the woman making this threat: feel free to pay your attorney to explain to you what's wrong with your behavior today. Do better. And telling my husband you're so tired of people taking their bad day out on you? No ma'am, honey it's you and your attitude, you're the problem.
