With Dawn, Ronda, and Mary as my midwives, I felt supported and prepared for the arrival of our son Ronin. They are amazing women!

Sue's presence & availability even outside of appointments through text or calls was exceptional. I truly felt like she was always there if I needed her even if it was to answer a little question I had that came up during the week. During the labor & delivery process I had full trust in Sue and her decision-making. She consistently updated my family members who were waiting in another room, showing kindness and consideration for them as well as me. She knows her stuff and has amazing assessment & midwifery skills. I needed to be transferred to the hospital because of decelerations and Sue was there by our side for the hours and hours of labor. She has amazing rapport with the staff at VCMC. Her presence with us and the way she helped us understand & process the decisions we had to make in the hospital brought us peace & an acceptance of the process. For the 2 weeks postpartum until my follow-up appointment Sue checked in by text to let us know she was praying for us and asked how we were doing. We felt so loved and cared for by her thoughtfulness. I knew that I could reach out at anytime if anything came up. Much of the advice and encouragement she gave me along the way in pregnancy, labor and postpartum continues to come to mind in times of need and her words give me strength & perspective. At my follow-up appointment I really appreciated her un-rushed availability yet again to talk through the labor and any questions I had. She has become a friend through this process and we are so thankful for her and love her.

We toured the office and both decided before we even left we wanted Sue to be my midwife. I always felt so cared for each & every visit. I never felt like I was supposed to be doing better than I was, Sue always assured me I'm doing exactly what I need to be doing. Even when some issues arose as they do, Sue was always quick to handle things and again make me feel so cared for and that she was always on my team. My birth didn't even go remotely as planned as the baby had other ideas and once again Sue was there by my side. She was with me through my 17 hour labor, 5 hours of pushing and 2 hour c section. She was in the room when my son met his father for the first time and she was the second person to hold him - she sang him happy birthday . I would not have wanted anyone else to be my care provider, she spoke up to the staff at VCMC & constantly pushed for my birth plan even if at the end it didn't work out that way. But again Sue made me feel that all was ok and exactly how it needed to happen and that I did everything I could have. Sue we love you so much!

My first birth was at her birthing center, & my second was at home. Both of these experiences were life changing for me. First, because they made me a mother. But second, because Karni helped me to realize what natural birth could be, & that I didn't have to be afraid of what my body could do. I feel blessed to have connected with her when I was pregnant with my first & didn't know what kind of birth I wanted - I just knew I didn't want what the western world has normalized for births, unless interventions became absolutely necessary. The first day I visited her birthing center, my mind had been made up & I knew I would give birth there. She told me to visit several midwives/birthing centers so I could make an informed decision but secretly I never did... best decision I've ever made. Me & my husband are forever grateful that she's our midwife & we look forward to birthing all of our future babies within her orb of power, however many we are blessed to have!

After that, we only had one follow-up appointment with Melissa, and then she completely disappeared. We never had our second visit, and I was left with irregular postpartum bleeding. I had to see a completely unfamiliar OB just a few months postpartum, which was both traumatic and embarrassing after the experience we had already gone through. My prenatal care was amazing and her presence alone just gives you a sense of calmness during such a big moment in your life. She took the time to answer all my questions and I loved that she has a website that I was able to log in to see all my information like lab work, visits etc. I saw someone posted a review saying she canceled an appointment and didn't wait for confirmation. During my care, another baby was being born when I had prenatal visit. I'm assuming the same thing happened and she was able to see me the following day. Babies are on their own timelines and you must have grace since she is one person and babies being born wait for no one and I can't imagine she had the time to check her phone while she's trying to catch a baby! I'm done having babies (I have two) but I will tell anyone if you're thinking about having a midwife, you won't be disappointed, she is a 5 star all the way.

I switched from an OBGYN to LA Midwife Collective around 30 weeks pregnant with my daughter and it made all the difference in how I felt about my prenatal care, birth, and postpartum care. I felt cared for, listened to, and protected, which is almost the exact opposite of how I felt at the OBGYNs office. Each visit felt private, calm, and un-rushed (exactly like the birth of my baby!) and after every appointment, I was more and more convinced I was always meant to have my baby at home with M&J. Skipping all the fun stuff: Jennifer caught my baby in my own bed, and then Monica made me the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, and then I got to cuddle with my newborn at home. 10/10 would recommend. We love Monica and Jennifer so much. I won't go into gory detail about HOW much we love them but...I would have another baby just to hang out with Monica and Jennifer again.

Jennifer also helped me figure out which supplements and natural herbs/tinctures were safe for me during pregnancy in addition to postpartum. So thankful for her kind and skilled care!

I could not have chosen a better practitioner/midwife to be under the care of. So grateful she's part of my birth team. Her weekly prenatal group zoom calls have been supremely helpful during this difficult time. They've brought a sense of community I felt like I was missing during this pandemic. Knowing that others are going through the same things is so so helpful during this time. I love cheering on fellow members as they get closer to meeting their babies and cheering on the newly pregnant people as well! And her Innate Journey class with Haize Hawke was the cherry on top! So informative, so realistic and caring. Precautions were taken to keep everyone safe during class, while bringing us together as a small group of couples getting ready to meet our babies.
