PROS: - My fur baby is just that, my baby. This establishment treats your pup like family. My job had me on the road at least one week out of every month, so I utilized their services several times (often for 7-10 days at once). - Prices: Overnight lodging starts at $26 per night, but I did the Silver Activity Package every time (this costs extra, but means your dog gets extra play time, pampering, and a treat or walk). Amazing cost (for comparison, since moving I now pay $40 per night for comparable treatment). - Awesome staff: Wayne Ragen (owner of Dawg Gone It) and staff are wonderful. I completely trusted them with my girl, and knew that she was in great hands. If my little one was scared, they let her cuddle with them at the front desk (no extra charge). If she was too overwhelmed in play time, they spent one-on-one time with her on a walk or in her suite. When choosing her "extras" at the beginning of every stay I was confident saying "Please choose based on how she's acting that day." - Accommodations: Dogs have suites - full rooms with doors (blocked on the bottom so dogs don't bark at one another, but clear on top so that staff can easily check in). Two play rooms (one for big dogs and one for the little ones), completely enclosed so there is no chance of getting loose in town. Walks take place outside (and Dawg Gone It is in a nice neighborhood). - Most importantly: My dog was never scared to go through the door at Dawg Gone It. Additionally, she was never panicked to leave when I picked her up. My little one is definitely a homebody who resists change, so this behavior told me she was comfortable there. CONS: - None. Seriously, ZERO cons. NOTES: - Say hi to Big (the Dawg Gone It mascot, and Wayne's fur baby). - Dawg Gone It has the usual requirements for its guests - up-to-date on vaccines, good behavior and social skills, etc. read more

We had a very disappointing experience. I had high expectations but after a tour and several discussions with staff, I reluctantly left my dog for a few hours of daycare. When I picked him up, he was wet, anxious and stressed. He is used to doggy daycare back home so I know it wasn't the group environment. Bad vibes all around. No outdoor play areas either. read more

We have 18 mth Chesp Bay Reteiver, he loves going to play and stay the night. The staff is outstanding and love to see him walk in the door. As painful as it is to leave our awesome little dude when we go out of town, I always have total peace of mind when leaving him with Dawg Gone It. The staff is friendly and personable and they show a sincere interest in his well-being and treat him with familiarity. In addition, since our little guy is super sensitive towards other dogs, the private suites are totally a life saver. I seriously doubt we could leave him at any other kennel. I also appreciate the fact that they take great care with his medication, even calling us after drop off to confirm the dosing schedule. Another thing that I love, is the package program where we can add extra walks, extra play and personal time, treats, etc. -- totally helps ease the guilt (haha). Great place! Great staff! read more

Went to Monterey for my birthday weekend, found this place thru Yelp. I called the place and spoke to Wayne who has very helpful and friendly. We need a place to drop off our dog for 4 hours so we can go to the aquarium. The place was just what we needed. We got a short walk in tour and was very satisfied. Left our dog and came back 4 hours after. We got a full report of her stay, such friendly staff. We will surely come back again next time we visit Monterey. My dog Ellie loves Dawg Gone It ! She is 70lb pit/boxer mix. I take her there for daycare about twice a week or more, she gets super excited when I drop her off and she comes home exhausted. My dog khai loves it here and we are sad we have to move. This place will surely be missed. Clean, friendly staff. I dnt even have to call anymore and would just drop khai off for play. My dog absolutely LOVED this place. Staff was friendly and helpful, and my people shy dog was always super happy to go into the daycare and always super tired when I pick him up. My only thing holding me back from 5 stars is price. $30 is a bit steep for doggie daycare, and the 6 visit package only saves you $2 each time AND you have to use it within a month which they did not tell me when I purchased it. They were fairly lenient on the month thing but I wish they would've told me prior. But love the staff and place seems clean and fun for your dog. read more

My husband and I were in Carmel for the long weekend and left our energetic pup for a day while we visited some of the sights. They have a very large, clean playroom. We wanted to have a family trip with our dog but unfortunately the hotel doesn't allow pets. We also wanted to be able to take Bono out when we were going on our excursions. Dawg gone it completely fit the mold. It was literally a dog hotel for him. We picked him up and dropped him off when it was time to go back to our hotels. I am very satisfied with this place. I was completely satisfied with the service provided by Dawg Gone It. Having a large German Shepherd, I have found that some "dog-friendly" service companies discriminate against large breed dogs. Not at Dawg Gone It, these guys treated my big baby like a queen. I was in town on vacation with my family and dog, and we took advantage of the doggy day care service to get some dog free time for the aquarium and attractions. My big girl got a walk, a quiet nap in a private room, and even a peanut butter filled kong treat. When we returned a few hours later, she was so happy and relaxed, she didn't want to leave. Her expression spoke volumes about the atmosphere and her experience. Very affordable and professional. Thank you to the staff. Brought my Kizzy for a weekend trip for just a day here. I forgot her vaccination records for her first time visit, but since my Vet was open on weekends, they were able to call them and get a fax of them. She was there for a day and they gave her a bath, fed her, walked and even had playtime with the other small dogs. I even got to go in and check on her when we stopped by mid-day. We spent about $40 for it, which is pretty affordable. Would definitely bring her back for another visit when we return to Monterey. read more

we were staying in Carmel and needed to leave our dog for a day so that we could go to the aquarium, our hotel and the Carmel visitor center recommended Dawg Gone It. Very nice lobby area, very clean, smells of apple and not urine. That's the first plus! $30 for the day is another plus! and, they really took very good care of Shelby. She is an older dog, so she just kind of hung out at the day care for a while and then they moved her to a private "suite" (no kennels here, which I love!) with a cot that she could sleep on. She was very happy to see us when we came to pick her up, of course, but we could tell she was treated very well. We will use them again when we return to Carmel. read more

This place is THE best! Our little Bella is happy and wagging her tail when we get there and she is still happy and wagging her tail when we pick her up a few days later. That hasn't been true when we have boarded our pups at other facilities. I always used to feel guilty leaving them as I could tell they were unhappy as soon as we arrived. It was like taking them to the vet. They hated it. Not here! It is great having the peace of mind knowing Bella is at a safe and fun place when we travel. She loves the play groups. I was really impressed with this place. As always, for me, front-end staff make a huge difference in how confidence I am with a business. The woman who picked up the phone was polite and very helpful. The woman I dropped my pup off with was also polite and helpful - I think she was probably the same person to be honest, I'm just terrible with names. What I really appreciate is they're sensitive to the fact that "day care" for some dogs means they dog would love to spend an afternoon running with other dogs, and for some dogs (like mine) ideally day-care means just hanging out for the day, not necessarily with a bunch of other dogs. And the cost for both services is the SAME. This is a HUGE draw for me! A lot of people have dogs who, while social enough to get along with dogs, would prefer to hang out with people, or just chillax for a day while their owners are out spending outrageous sums of money at gift and chocolate stores (#tourists). So the fact that this business understands and caters to that - well, lets just say we will definitely be coming back to Monterrey with our dog, and when we do, she'll be going here. I have been taking my 50 lb dog here for over a year when I need to go away. He really is very comfortable and is happy here. I think there is a safe feeling as he is a very anxious animal. He really seems to be well-looked after and has no trouble agreeing to go "down the hall" whenever we go back to board him. I pay for the extra long walk. This is a new boarding and doggie daycare facility in Monterey so I decided to try it out. I have 2 small dachshunds which I left for 2 nights and 1 day of daycare. Wow! was I impressed. First I stopped by for a tour (unannounced of course) they were happy to oblige and gave me a thorough tour of the clean, bright and well laid out facility. They have great procedures for dog introduction into the daycare room which is staffed by a real person whenever dogs are in there. The room is spacious and clean with toys and a doggie play gym. The suites are clean and bar less (for all those neurotic cage biters) with a clear front they can watch the pets through. You can call for updates anytime your pet is boarding - and they seem to know exactly who you are and who your pet's are when you call :) You can bring your own food, bed, toys anything your pooch likes from home. My girls were able to board in the same suite. When I came to pick up I was greeted by two happy dogs. They weren't crazy or neurotic (as they have been from boarding at other places). The prices were comparable to other places on the peninsula but with a better facility and knowledgeable staff. I as also pleased in the fact that I knew they weren't in a cage all day long. All in all I was VERY happy and will use them again for both daycare and boarding. I recommend you check the place out and take a tour. Set aside time for the paperwork when you tour or book - takes awhile- it really gives them a profile of who your pet is though so it's totally worth it. Would love to review the facility but they failed to return my calls. When I called for info to visit and check out the facility, phone was answered by a recording which took my name and number. A second and third call...same results. Messages left, no return calls. Very frustrating and annoying. Not a good business practice! I realize animals, like children can cause busy, crazy days, but failure to return business calls is not a good business practice. Sorry, really wanted to like them. read more

I took my dog there for the first time to have her initial review by the owner and his staff. Upon entering, the owner was very cold. His demeanor was uninviting and not what I would want for someone who is going to caring for my dog for hours at a time. He and a staff member took my dog back to the room to let her play with the other dogs, but came out 10 minutes later and said that he is not right for their facility. The staff member and owner who were communicating this to me came off very rude and had no tact what soever. I am so disappointed with this place and I am shocked at the character of the owner especially after reading so many good reviews online. I was not happy at all with my experience there and I do not recommend this place. read more

On the way to Napa for my wife's conference in May, we stopped in Monterey to visit our daughter. We boarded our two dogs at Dawg Gone It after reading the Yelp reviews. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Zack who proceeded to give us a tour of the facility. He was very informative and made sure all our questions were answered. The place was clean and the four legged guests appeared to be well taken care of. Our daughter was allowed to visit our dogs and take them for walks.
