I visited this office about six months ago. Dr. Ciccarelli informed me that I had three small cavities that potentially needed to be filled. To his credit, he recommended doing a single filling to determine the extent of the decay and whether further fillings would be necessary. I was uninsured at the time and decided to wait until I got my insurance back before I had any work done. Fast forward to today when my family dentist, who has been practicing for 31 years and, to the best of my knowledge, has never led me astray, looks in my mouth, looks at my x-rays, and tells me what absolutely beautiful teeth I have. Not only did he find no cavities, he found no evidence of decay whatsoever. Not even anything to keep an eye on. Dr. Ciccarelli seemed like a very nice person and people have apparently been happy with his work. But if I had taken his advice he would have been drilling into healthy teeth, charging me hundreds of dollars, and I'd end up with a bunch of fillings I didn't need. Very disappointed. read more

My initial review was for my first cleaning here. 6 months later for my 2nd cleaning, my thoughts on this place is still the same! Wonderful dental office in Davis. I am definitely going to have a hard time find a new dentist once I move back home. The hygienists here are superb. Lexie did such an amazing job, and is very thorough with her cleaning. If you have to see a dentist, then you better see Dr. Jones. I'd the most pleasant experience here and the staff is great. I've been to many dentists all my life and I usually feel they are out to fix my non-existent cavities. Dr. Jones worked within my budget and fixed my broken tooth. The only thing that I didn't like was that on my second visit , Dr. Johnston, the other dentist who BTW is excellent as well, asked way too many personal questions about my plans after graduation. I just had my second visit at Paul Johnson and Dagon Jones' dentist office. After my first visit, I received what I thought was a bill from the office - but it was a hand written card saying that it was nice to meet me and chat about my job. I was thanked for my business and it was even signed by the Michael - the dentist who did my exam on the first visit. The office sent me a Happy Birthday email on my birthday as well! I received two text notifications to remind me of my upcoming visit and I'm always greeted with a smile when I enter the office. I have never been met with such kindness from a medical office - this makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience! read more

My family has been seeing Dr Jones for about 7 years. Today Dr Jones pulled babyteeth for my daughter. She was very nervous. Dr. Jones and his assistant we're very patient and relaxed, which helped my daughter get through the extractions. They explain things in a way that didn't scare her. From the smiling faces when you walk in the door, to the time you leave, everybody is just so helpful and tries to explain things to where those of us that don't know anything about Dentistry or insurance can understand. I will come to this dental office for as long as their doors are open. Highly recommended to anybody. read more

I came here based on Yelp's reviews, and I can say that I was not disappointed at all. I had my teeth cleaned, examined, and had some fillings here all within two weeks of coming here for the first time, and I'm very glad I did. The fillings themselves went very smoothly. I barely even felt the injections for the anesthetic he gave me; he's that good. Plus, not only was Dr. Jones very efficient and thorough, he was also very informative. He answered every question I had in great detail. On top of that, he and the staff are very friendly and are great conversationalists. I highly recommend coming here if you ever need work done. They truly are great at what they do; they're the best dental practice I've ever been to. read more

You can't go wrong with either Dr. Johnson or Dr. Jones. They are both exceptional dentists with amazing skills! I have a front tooth veneer done by a different dentist 25 years ago!! It is an excellent color match but it developed a stain near the gumline that made me self-conscious when smiling, so while I was there for a separate issue, I pointed it out to Dr Johnson. Not only did he offer to fix it right there on the spot, he matched the color exactly. It turned out to be a very small cavity that had to be filled, but looking at the tooth even under very bright light, I cannot find the repair. Dr. Johnson ROCKS! I don't have insurance so I appreciate that the Drs and staff are always willing to help keep the cost down and not make me feel bad if I cannot afford xrays as often as they recommend. And the one time I forgot my appointment they were very nice about rescheduling me and not charging me extra. read more

I am up in the Davis area temporarily for school, and needed a good dentist since I had a problem tooth with a huge filling that had cracked and fallen out the night before. I was really stressed and nervous about the possibility of needing a lot of work done, but I went with Dr. Jones because of the great reviews on here. The employees were all very friendly and nice, and were great about giving me a heads up when my insurance wouldn't cover certain things, so there were no surprises. They fit me in the same day, and the dental assistant was really friendly and helped put me at ease. Dr Jones was incredibly understanding, and super patient and kind. I do tend to get anxious when I need dental work, and he was just great. He gave me a few treatment options, talked about the long-term and short-term solutions, and helped me make a really good decision to help my oral health. I ended up getting some work done, a build-up for a crown, and it was fast and well-executed. If I end up staying in the area, I would definitely make Dr Jones and his amazing staff my regular dentist! I highly recommend this office for anyone, especially if you have had bad experiences and want care that is thoughtful, respectful and thorough. read more

They seem to look OK as others pointed out, however they are not Delta Dental and their fees are about twice as large as Delta Dental will cover even for such simple things as cleaning and x-rays. And of course they wouldn't disclose that info upfront and when asked why my insurance that usually covers simple things at 100%, will not cover fully these services, the answer I got is 'dont know how to explain'. read more

Great family dentist office! Both dentists are equally good and every hygienist I've ever had has been great. Our whole family goes to this office, including my son. My only recommendation would be for them to get digital xrays, electronic records and mouth microscopes with video monitor projections.....but I suspect they will one of these days. Otherwise, you will NOT find more conscientious dentists anywhere! And I've been a patient for almost ten years. Had everything from cleaning to crowns to root canals (they refer out to a wonderful root canal doctor in Vacaville). Very nice people! read more

I haven't had dental insurance for a while, so I've neglected going to the dentist, but since I actually had to pay for the SHIP this quarter, I figured I might as well take advantage of it. I ended up coming here because of positive reviews on Davis Wiki, and rightfully so. The administrative staff, dental assistants, RDHs, and Dr. Jones himself were all very hospitable, professional, friendly, and thorough. They explained what they were doing, presented me with options where options were available, answered my questions, and always made sure I was comfortable and doing okay. Perhaps what was most surprising, and an over-and-above-gesture, was when Dr. Jones called the evening after I had some dental work done to see how I was doing and whether I had any other questions or concerns. They have an internet-based appointment confirmation system, and are conveniently located in a place accessible by bike, bus, and private vehicle. read more

My 3-year-old son had his first dentist appointment today with Dr. Jones. I was very disappointed. He made no effort to make the visit a fun/good experience and merely marched through the appointment. My son had never seen a dentist chair, had a rotating brush used on his teeth, etc. The dental experience can be very scary for kids. What could have been a great first experience that lasts a lifetime, turned out to be mediocre at best. We won't be back. read more

After having so many bad dentist experiences, I have to commend this dentistry for their amazing work. Once you come here, your perception of how the dentist office is CHANGES. I've been here twice and both Dr. Ciccarelli and Dr. Jones worked on my teeth. I had to come in for an emergency (I had tripped wearing heels and I broke most of my front tooth) and they took me the day of. I needed to get a root canal done. I was devastated at the fact, but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. They went over all the costs with me and tried to be as helpful as possible. Dr. Jones performed the root canal and he really listened to my needs and concerns; which was mostly me whining and crying when it hurt :P. Then Dr. Ciccarelli created a build-up for me. It matched PERFECTLY. You could barely tell anything had happened. After he was done with my tooth, he said "dayum" and rightfully so! I appreciated their carefulness and attention to my opinions. Dr. Jones even called me the night of to ask how my tooth was doing. It's such a nice breath of fresh air from all the bad dental work I've had in the past. I HIGHLY recommend this dentist office. If I won the lottery, I would come here and just spend all of it on whatever they can offer. Coming here has made me realize that you can't skim out on good dental work. You get what you par for. A GREAT DENTAL EXPERIENCE! A good trusted Dentist is hard to find! I seldom feel as though I am going to the right person for dental work! I came across the BEST Dentist in Davis, CA! When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and called back promptly. I was asked questions about what was causing me pain in my mouth and Dr. Jones listened thoroughly and came up with a prognosis, then gave me ideas of what he could do for me. I had x-rays taken by the awesome Dental Assistant Janelle. I was shown what was happening to a tooth that giving me grief and after discussing what the plan was for it, Dr Jones worked quickly and kept me more comfortable than I have ever been at a Dentist office! I was kept informed every step of the process and even offered some cool sunglasses to wear so the light did not hurt my eyes. I do not like needles of any sort and was totally amazed with how Dr. Jones went about giving me numbing medication as he did not poke me hard or scare me as he was about to put a long needle in my mouth. I was provided with complete care instructions for after the procedure I had done and even left feeling excited for the rest of my day even though I had to go to work after! read more

They give you so much attention and are always very thorough with their cleaning and examination. I've always seen Dr. Johnson and have had a different hygienist each time, and recommend all of them. Their dental service is fantastic, however as others have mentioned they stopped taking Delta Dental. I was told that "nothing would change" other than paying for all of it up front and receiving a reimbursement check later. Well, this is what happened, except I wound up paying $64.60 out of $105 for a regular cleaning as opposed to the $21 it used to be. If you work at Bayer in Sacramento, don't bother coming here anymore. read more

I've been treated by Dr. Jones (in the Dental practice of Drs. Johnson and Jones) for about 4 years. He and the entire staff are great. The receptionist/appointment setters are perfectly friendly and patient, and there was never a long wait to from the time I arrived until I was reclining in the super comfortable exam chair (seriously, their chairs are awesome). Leslie, who does my regular cleanings, is very thorough and responsive, and actually remembers things we talked about 6+ months previously, which is unusual in my experience of medical care and surprising considering how many patients she sees. Melissa always assisted whenever I had fillings done (or the poor work of my previous dentist repaired), and she is also friendly and efficient. Dr. Jones is always very patient with any questions or concerns I have. I completely trust him and his staff to take good, proactive care my oral health. Also, I've never gotten the sense that they're trying to sell me unnecessary services or products (like the disastrous sealant I got as an adolescent in the 90's). read more
