I first visited this chill and pretty tea house in 2019. I came to Ottawa with my daughters for…read moretheir birthdays and when I saw the Tea Shop, I told them to enjoy themselves, while I enjoyed myself drinking tea. Both then and this visit, this shop had a relaxing atmosphere, an inviting and colorful wall of tea and tisane options in glass jars, and very friendly and helpful staff. We ordered three pots of tea and one was a blend of a lime ginger tisane mixed with a sencha cherry rose tea. My household loves this tea and we brought a bag home to enjoy of both the blend and the tisane all by itself. We look forward to returning. We cannot imagine visiting Ottawa without coming here!

I was exploring Byward Market and stumbled across this quaint tea store with a sizeable tea…read moreselection. I got a tea and scone combo (~$8 after tax) after I found out the scone was lavender + blueberry and came with cream and strawberry jam! For teas, they had several green/black/herbal options, the Casablanca was a light fruity hibiscus tea which was perfect for a hot summer day. I noticed that there were options to get tea for a group 2, 3, 4 which seemed to be slightly cheaper so I can see this as being a good spot to catch up with friends. The warm scone had a light lavender flavour with mainly blueberry chunks and even though my cream quickly melted when I moved onto the patio (limited patio space by the way), I really enjoyed my experience. If you enjoy tea, this is definitely a very cute spot.

The Vanitea Room - Delectable mini chocolate cupcake - reminds me of Beauty & the Beast when Lumière says "try the gray stuff, it's delicious!"

To start off when I went it was extremely busy there was four large parties so my friend and I got…read morethe smallest table in the corner I feel very uncomfortable and very tight in such a small space. If you come here looking for the high tea tower it's about $45 and includes some scones and little pastry items with a pot of tea however for $45 you're really not getting much. I found the prices here extremely high for the amount of food that you are getting. I ordered myself a brunch dish with purple cauliflower a slab of smoked tofu and a cauliflower crust however I found the entire dish extremely unflavourful and quite disappointing. Unfortunately this place left a little to desire that day as they didn't have AC so everyone who was there was just boiling the entire time. Couldn't really enjoy the tea experience because it was just so hot. Giving it 3 stars because the decor was beautiful and the servers were kind.

We visited during the HST holiday. When the bill came the HST was on the bill. We asked whether that was an error and the server said "you don't have to pay it". We then said to her that there was an HST holiday enacted and she asked us "so you don't want to pay it". We found this very very odd as every other restaurant we went to had it removed. Also who wants to pay taxes and the question is if the government is not collecting HST does this mean the restaurant is just pocketing the extra amount ? We found this to be very dishonest and will not return. All of our friends were also shocked as were other restaurants we told the story to. Would say if you go to this place check your bill very carefully

TLDR: This Bubble Tea chain from Taiwan just opened up its first store in Ottawa. Their famous…read morebrown sugar pearls are made fresh in-store. Their milk tea has a potent tea flavour and they use whole milk, so it's very rich and creamy. Their soft opening was June 27, 2024. They will have their grand opening in July. During their soft opening, which is when I went, they only had their 10 top selling drinks available and no soft serve ice cream. Unfortunately for me, during their soft opening they didn't have any discounts/promotions and everything was just regular priced, lol. I went with their classic Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea. I got the regular size ($6.50) with less ice. The sugar level is fixed. They said they could make it less sweet by giving me less pearls, lol. No thanks, I love pearls, haha. So I got the standard sweetness. The pearls were delicious! So soft and chewy. The tea had a strong tea flavour and since they use homogenized milk, it was so rich and creamy, almost too much so for my tastes, lol. Staff were very welcoming and they were so enthusiastic. There's some seating inside and a few patio tables outside too. The store is bright and clean. Xing Fu Tang is known for their fortune boxes. They're like fortune cookies, but no cookie, haha. You choose a stick from the container of sticks. And there's a number on the stick which corresponds with a numbered drawer. In the drawer is a fortune. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I skipped the fun ;) I'll need to return to try their soft serve ice cream. And they have this mango smoothie drink with strawberry boba and a panna cotta bunny on top, which I want to try too. And they have drinks with real taro, so I'll need to take my taro-loving mom here too. They are in Old Ottawa East. Street parking only. (93)

The matcha was so fresh and strong, it was unlike any other matcha I've had in North America. I was afraid the brown sugar would be too sweet but it was the perfect amount of flavor and a hint of sweet. Definitely a 10 out of 10 for the drinks. Staff were very patient with us as we tried to make a decision and they were very helpful with answering questions and making recommendations. The business itself was clean, modern and cute. They were also very efficient with the making of our beverages.
