His bid was professional, quick, and thousands less than my expectations. He talked me through the work that he was planning and explained it so I could understand. He never upsold me on anything I didn't need. He even offered to clean my yard up, because I hadn't raked the fall leaves. He said, "I want it to look nice when we're finished." Second, Ofilio and his crew completed what seemed like a week's worth of work in less than a day. They took down a 30ft oak, with stump grinding; trimmed up another 30ft oak; trimmed up a large maple near power lines; and trimmed up another large tree by mid afternoon! They cleaned up the yard waste better than it's ever looked and even disposed of some random wood that I'd kept laying around the yard. Finally, there is no better feeling than coming home knowing the tree that had literally been hanging over my head is gone. The tech was a great guy and made quick work of the repair. I was really happy with the completed job. That was until the invoice came over at just under $400. I was shocked when I saw the price and thought it might have been a mistake, so I asked for an itemized copy of the parts. Turns out it was not a mistake, they just mark up their parts by 400%-600%. I understand the business side and marking up parts... I am completely okay with that. However price gouging to this extent is pretty excessive. Sprinkler valve box at $40 each.. and small waterproof wire splices at $5 each is absolute robbery. The tech did a great job with the repair. I was happy with the work done, but I paid a PREMIUM for it. Just be aware of this before you have them complete any work for you.
