Photo Service is pretty good on most fronts…read more Their rentals are fairly priced and they have a good selection of lenses, cameras, lighting etc. Their retail floor has quite a bit of stock but tracking down a salesperson can be difficult at times. They have mostly anything that you'd need, but can also order things in as needed. They have a very good selection of darkroom paper (including colour paper), film (B&W, colour, formats up to 4x5), archival binders and sleeves, etc. With the low Canadian dollar, their prices are competitive with B&H. Photo Service's developing and printing services are both good. Personally, I prefer Borealis for development and I find their turnaround quicker than Photo Service. Both labs offer similar services with the exception of E6 (slide/positive) development which only Borealis offers. Though I greatly prefer Borealis and recommend them to everyone I know, I would still recommend Photo Service- especially compared to Photo St. Denis which is really mediocre. All in all, a quality store with good services and a great selection of products.

Desinfectant was at the door, spots on the floors were there to help with physical distancing and the 2 ladies that were working were super welcoming and also very surprised that I was the 9th customer coming for the exact same picture, I guess everybody took this time off to update their paperwork. They used proper lighting and light diffusers and showed me several takes to choose from. Honestly all of them were perfect. The difference between the old photo and the new one is huge. As someone who was just getting into film, I wasn't ready to spend upwards of $700 on a camera. We found this shop on Google and decided to stop in. It's a small spot, filled with cameras and equipment. There was one other girl there grabbing more film. We didn't catch the guys name but I'm assuming he was the owner. He was very sweet and helpful from the minute we came in. I didn't know what I was looking for so he asked some questions, what did I want to take pictures of, stuff like that, and then pulled out three cameras. He walked me one by one through what the differences are of each. I ended up going with a Minolta SRT-201. He showed me how to shoot for different lighting, and how to put the film in. It was very reasonably priced. I got the camera and two lenses for $275. He told us we can come back to get the film developed and we can pick up physical prints or he can email it to us. He clearly loved what he did and wanted to share that passion.

Also I used to scan my films there , it's not the greatest scans ever, but was working for my need, till I got my own scanner.
