Tour De Jeux is a great store to browse tabletop games and legos…read more The employees working there were super helpful and knew what they were talking about when it came to tabletop games (advanced ones). There is such a wide variety, there is something for everyone as well as new games to add to your collection. One of the employees told me that the barcodes are coded for languages. FR for French, ENG for English, and Multi for multi language. This was super helpful for finding games in English. I wanted to buy quite a few games here but the prices were quite steep. They had a 3D Catan that was about $100 more than the one on Amazon (US website). However, this was a fun store to look around and the employees truly were great.

This is a board game store, and not a toy store. This store was created way before the hype of…read moreboard games happened snd other stores popped up like crazy. The good: Staff knows their games and will take moments to explain it to you. Lots of board games, from simple to very complex. They have sections for complex games and popular games. Carries a good variety of local board games. Prices are the same as other stores and online stores. Also has mind games and puzzle section. Has area for the little ones too. The bad: VERY low on card games (so low you really have to look around to find them). Staff can really be in-your-face when you are just browsing, and that is truly annoying. The bad for me is what made me not give a store a five-star review. In fact, l might be generous with four as l am a card game fan (Munchkin, etc.), but they are so rare there. And the staff asking if you need help every five minutes is truly annoying (and afterwards looking at you from a distance).

The manager was rude and ruined the experience of shopping in the store. I had walked in with my coworker (who is a Science teacher) and we had four students. There were two other adults in the store with two children. One of my students took a product off the peg to look at it more closely (the students had money to spend), and the manager came over to me and aggressively said "no one is allowed to touch anything in the store. You can only look. We are actually not a museum so," and with his hand gestured for us to get out. I reiterated by saying, "so we are not allowed to touch or look at your products in the store?" He replied yes. I thought this was ridiculous so I continued to walk around with my students who were behaving and interested in the store. I was talking with my coworker, and the manager came over again and started to tell me that if we do not like the rules of the store then it's too bad and this is the way it is in there. I told him that his approach is aggressive and rude and he replied; "That's ok. This is how it is here. I like it like that." I replied by saying "clearly." All this time, our students were in view and being interested little shoppers. My other coworker now walked into the store and as I was talking with her, the manager came over once again and started to tell me that if I did not like the rules of the store that it is too bad. I felt harassed by this man for continuing on a subject when we were minding our own business watching our students shop. In the meantime, the two other adults in the store with their children were not being told the same rules. I told the manager that I am having a private conversation with my coworker and that the conversation that he was trying to have with me is over. He then continued to point to the wall saying that these are the rules and that we should have read them when walking into the store. He proceeded to tell me that our bags should be left at the door. He also stated that it is one adult for 5 students (we were two adults with four students). He then said that he had asked us as we walked in, to wait outside the store before entering which was not true. I asked him if this were true, why was he only telling us 15 minutes later after we have been walking around. Instead of harassing me about the rules, he could have mentioned to wait outside. Keep in mind that I am assuming that they ask people to wait outside and to leave their bags if there are large amounts of people and groups. There were a total of 10 people including ourselves in the store. I rounded up all four students and we decided to leave. Three of my students wanted to buy something but I explained to them that there is a lesson in this. I asked all four of them if they would feel comfortable spending their money in a store where we were mistreated and discriminated against. They replied no. So we left. We were discriminated against because we were a school. I am sure that the manager has had to deal with many problems with groups of students so we were judged the minute we walked in. I also asked the salesman if he was the owner and he told me that he is the manager and that the owner would back him up 100% percent. Therefore we shall ban this store on future trips and I work for a very large school board and plan to pass the word along about our horrible experience. This is supposed to be a children/student friendly environment. I will never step foot back into this store. EVER! I am only leaving one star because I had to put a rating.

Without the doubt the largest selection of Gundam / Gunpla model kits in all the province as well as a staff of super experienced people in the hobby. Sure the anime rentals of the 90s and early 2000s are gone, sure the manga sales are no more, but you can still get your Japanese mecha fix here and with a loyal costumer base due to great service and knowledge; It's why Sci Fi is still around. 5 Stars.

The owner Lou was very affable and straight-forward. There were pay-for-play gaming sessions held and I fondly remember the Doom deathmatches on Playstation. It moved a while later to Snowden and then after a year or so back to Monkland but this time further up the street from its old spot. Then it moved (again) to Decarie near Monkland where they stayed for almost a decade. No more video games, instead focusing on their staple of anime rentals, manga and anime modeling kits (mostly Gundam). Some of you might remember those two big Rottweilers he kept behind the counter. I was told they since passed away. Their jumping locations has helped to alienate some of their clientele (it's hard to shop at a place when you can't find them) but at least their phone number has always remained the same. Well, Netflix and all the online streaming and downloading sites, legal or otherwise, killed the video rental model (especially anime with all the free fansubs going around), so by the time they moved to St. Catherine St. West near Atwater they were into modeling kits only. They finally moved to Crescent St. where they're presently located (at least for now). A shadow of their former selves (how can it be Sci-Fi Anime without the anime?) I'm not sure what the future holds for them. They've been partnered with Taktik airsoft gun products and services since their former location so maybe that'll be their bread and butter from now on, as they don't seem to have much else going for them. Thanks for the good times, Lou! You were an inspiration and part of the reason I opened my own store after seeing how much fun it can be to be your own boss. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Grab a coffee and get ready to hear the story of the most unprofessional business transaction ever…read more Here's my story, upon hearing it, I hope you guys can learn from all the headaches I've endured with this company. 1) Placed an order on their webpage on a regular priced item, entered all payment detail. Nothing is shipped on the promised ship date. Days later, received an email from the probable owner of the store that they actually don't have the model in stock and there is no ETA on the arrival date of next batch. Furthermore, when and IF it finally arrives, the price on the webpage was too low and needs to be raised by $25 for no reason besides "The price has gone up and we can't control it". The owner didn't even apologize or acknowledge that this practice is complete BS. 2) Various emails were exchanged to express my dissatisfaction of the situation. He explained the difficulties of keeping track of his +1 million dollar inventory and the fact that since they're selling it below the MSRP of the product, its fair game to raise it (ya because everyone knows that as long as the price of something you buy is lower than the MSRP of the producut, everyone is getting a killer deal). 3)Finally I agreed on the higher price and unknown ETA because of the fact that I would rather pay a couple of bucks more to support a Canadian business over foreign businesses. HERE'S THE ICING ON THE CAKE: he was nice enough to inform me that the new quoted price is not a firm price anymore! It might go up even more when it actually arrives because his supplier might charge him "fuel surcharge increase, ship rate increase, exchange rate increase and so on, the retail price will reflect any of these increases." (THESE ARE HIS ACTUAL WORDS!) 4) Gave up and bought the same model from another Canadian model store located in Toronto. For the same price as when I bought it originally from the GPM website. I don't know anyone who would've even gone past point 1 before cancelling the order. The level of frustration I received from this store is unimaginable. Please just avoid the possible headaches and avoid these guys at all cost. No wonder they have over 1 million dollar of stocks available. Who would ever buy anything from these guys is beyond me!?
