Short review: GO GO GO. Best dress shopping experience of my life. I did not expect to find a dress at all being a plus size girl (18), but I am so happy I went with David's Bridal JC! Ask for Sarah B! Long review: I scheduled an appointment on a Saturday, January 9th 2016. I just have to say that I was extremely nervous. It was my first time wedding dress shopping and I had no idea what to expect. So I walk in and at first the anxiety hit me and then an immediate calm solely from the atmosphere and positive energy I felt in the store. They let me, my mother, and my best friend look around at all of the options they had and we found quite a few from the get go for me to try on, maybe 5 or 6 I think. Sarah B from Davids Bridal JC that was helping me was wonderful. She listened to all of my wants and all of my absolutely nots. We traveled to the rooms to try on dresses and she measured me. She got me suited up with the bra and the skirt to start and she told me to pick my two favorites and I did. We tried the first one on... So pretty!... but not it. The second dress was the same experience. The store manager then came over and was very very sweet and encouraging. She talked to Sarah for a second and said.. I think she should try on this particular dress (telling her the name of the specific dress). They were both excited and ran off to find said dress. They came back after a few minutes and the first reaction I had was... but it's nothing like I wanted. Nothing AT ALL like I had wanted coming in. I tried it on anyways just to be a good sport. I came out of the dressing room and they wouldn't let me see myself until they had completely laced the corset up. I looked over at my mom and best friend and they are both almost in tears, but I could tell they were trying to hide it until they saw what I thought about it. The girls at DB turned me around and I instantly started tearing up. I just couldn't stop looking at myself! I actually felt really and honestly beautiful. For really the first time in a long time. I look at my mom and best friend and they're in full tears at this point. Then for some reason I look at the DB girls and they're actually crying with me! Sob fest. Huge sob fest. But the best sob fest I've ever had! Sarah got a veil to put on me and it turned my tears into actual real crying. I don't know if any of you all get those red splotches on your chest but I had a ton. It literally made an eagle on my chest. Anyways! I walked out of DB feeling so incredibly confident and sexy and everything you could imagine. Shout out to Sarah B. If you ever see this, thank you. Thank you for making it the best shopping experience in my life. You are a truly beautiful person and I really appreciate you for how you've changed my life. I had a wonderful time at David's Bridal last night, 2/8/2015. I had just come from another store which was a terrible experience, and I went to DB hoping to just get a general idea of what I wanted. I found "The Dress" that night! The staff were all so, so sweet and helpful, and very personable and knowledgeable about their dresses. It was absolutely the best shopping experience I've had, and they really went above and beyond for me, especially as I was a walk in! First was the lady who took my measurements. Her name was Mary, and she was super nice and kind of sassy (in a good way). She sure knows how to tie a corset! She was easy to talk to and was able to get the right bustier and slip right away. Then, Emily and Miranda helped me figure out what I was looking for and pulled some dresses. Miranda said this was the first time she had been able to work directly with a bride, and she did a fantastic job. She was very enthusiastic about it and was very easy to talk to as well! Emily was also super nice, and she did a terrific job picking out a veil and a hair clip that matched the dress perfectly - she definitely knows her accessories. And now, to the above and beyond part! DB was at the Pink Bridal Show earlier that day. Their booth was handing out coupons for $50 off your dress. I filled out a form with them, but declined the coupon because it was only good at the Johnson City store and I live in Nashville and didn't expect to be dress shopping in JC. Emily insisted on asking the manager if I could get the coupon anyhow, and the manager remembered me and they said they would do that! Aaand, about halfway through the dress fitting I noticed the store was emptying. I didn't know their store hours and asked an employee (forgot her name) if they were closed, because I'd leave and come back at a later time. She assured me they weren't closed and I continued my appointment. A few minutes later I found "my dress" and we started to check out. The place was definitely closed now, haha. They were all still smiling and happy to help me, and when I (embarrassed) asked why they didn't say they were closed they said that I wasn't in anyone's way and that they would end up being there that late anyhow. These people are 100% amazing and made my dress shopping experience wonderful! I'm going to be sending them chocolate or something as a thank you, haha. read more

Definitely a visit worth a five star rating! I would give it ten if I could! We were greeted with a smile the moment we walked in the door and it just got better from there. We were approached by an associate named Sarah and from the minute she introduced herself I felt like I'd known her forever. She promised to get me into the perfect dress and she did it! After asking me just a few questions and taking my measurements she came back with five stunning gowns. She was helpful, encouraging and just lovely. She showed me the many options available for each style and was quick to make suggestions to make the gowns even more stunning than they were before. We finally settled on a gorgeous strapless gown and she hand picked the sash to go with it. Her measurements were spot on and the gown will need very few alterations. She really focused on me and my preferences the entire time and was always quick to fix even the smallest details I was uncomfortable with. When we finally chose the gown and she was explaining the bell-ringing tradition, she was as emotional as I was! I truly feel like she was just as excited for my big day as I am and that made the entire experience so special! It may sound silly but in the two hours we were there I feel like I gained a friend along with my gorgeous gown! I can say that I have had experience both as a bridesmaid, a high school prom girl, and now a bride. David's Bridal this go around for my bridal gown held no stops! They were very helpful and gave me honest and personal opinions. My bridesmaids are states and countries away. So having another's opinion other than that of my own and my mother's was a huge deal! My consultant's name was Allie. She was very friendly and easy to be in-company with! She helped me figure out what I wanted as to fit and fashion style. She took my favorite parts of the dresses I tried on and compiled them into finding the right dress! I was very impressed. She totaled all costs to let me know cost differences and was on board with the idea of saving as much money as possible. Which is a big deal, assuming the ladies are given ratings on the percentages they pull on sales in the store. Also the ladies were very helpful in allowing me and my mother have an unplanned search for the dress. I have learned sometimes the best things aren't planned out. I am thankful that the store's team in Johnson City was able to handle a non-appointment potential client, because it is not the normal situation of bridal shopping. I was on my way home from work and decided to stop by Davids Bridal just to have a look. I am getting married next May and wanted to get an idea of what I like. It was about 15 after 8 when I got there and was promptly greeted at the door by Tara. She asked what I needed and I told her I just wanted to look to get ideas. She told me that they were not able to set me up with fittings that evening, as they had a young lady already. I told her that was fine and that I can always come back for that. I saw a dress I like and asked if I may try it on, Sarah was by the dressing rooms and said yes and assisted me. It was a basic dress, which is what I was looking for. I saw another dress I liked and told Sarah, she went with me and she pulled my size, it was a fit and that was it! SOLD!!! There will be minimal alterations to be done and will have to happen next year. The ladies informed me that I can get the dress and at any time and at any Davids Bridal have the alterations. Tara, Sarah and Kathy the manager all waited on me and was so very helpful and caring. They wanted to hear my love story and cried with me. I enjoyed this experience, because I was not rushed out the door. I was treated the same as if I had spent thousands of dollars but was in hundreds. They care about the customers and go the extra mile! read more

I'm not sure why some women have posted such scathing reviews of this location, perhaps they've never been to any other bridal store. I have visited this particular locations on MANY occasions. Once for a bridal appointment with my best friend, once for a formal dress for a cruise, once for a bridesmaid's dress, and once for my daughter. I cannot say enough great things about the consultants and their management staff. These women are truly committed to creating an ideal experience for each bride and client that walks through their doors. They spent extra time beyond my best friend's appointment making sure she felt beautiful and that every accessory was perfect(I saw another reviewer said they "try" to charge for every little thing...pretty sure that's every bridal shop. You pay for the dress, the belt, the shoes, the veil, the headpiece... those are all separate pieces). When shopping for my bridesmaid's dress, even though my sister(the bride) wasn't with me and I really loathe the dress she picked for the bridesmaids, their consultants made me feel beautiful and important. When going in for my daughter's flower girl dress, they made her feel like she was a princess. Even looking for my formal dress, a consultant spent time looking for my size and made several great suggestions. read more

When the NYC David's Bridal messed up my order and failed to ship my dress, the Johnson City Store came to the rescue!! I tried on a dress and measured the dress at NYC and arranged for the dress to be sent to a Kingsport address. I was supposed to receive the dress in mid may but I never received a call that my dress had arrived at the NYC store. Finally in June, I called the NYC store to make sure my dress should be sent to the Kingsport address I provided. The dress was not sent until my bride to be called and had it overnight shipped to TN. Due to the inconvenience I called davids bridal customer service and requested free alterations with only one week to have the dress altered before the wedding. The NYC store refused. Because of the poor service from the NYC store, the Johnson City Store agreed to take the price of the alterations off of my dress. The JC store had had no part in the mishap but they still were hospitable and accommodating. When I arrived the staff was ready for me at the door and whisked me in and out in no time, while exhibiting the most pleasant demeanors. I just walked in one evening without an appointment and was immediately greeted by friendly and helpful staff members who made me feel so calm and relaxed, which is a miracle because I was very overwhelmed at the thought of having to pick out a dress. I was lucky enough to get matched with Sarah as my consultant, and she is an angel! I am not joking when I say that she is like a fairy godmother. Not only was Sarah sweet and funny, but she has GREAT taste and was a stickler about staying within my budget. By the third dress (which she picked for me!) I knew that we'd found The One. I was by myself and wanted my Mom to come back with me and Sarah was sweet enough to let me schedule an appointment for a night when she was working. Once my Mom and friends were with me and had picked out a few dresses they would like to see me in, Sarah was so kind and patient and never once made us feel rushed or like we were keeping her from something else, and even let my friends pick out a ton of different sashes for me. I left my appointment with a gorgeous dress (The One Sarah picked for me the first time I was there!) on order and a huge smile on my face. I can't recommend David's Bridal in Johnson City enough, and I will send every person I know to sweet Sarah. read more

This David's Bridal location is truly a 5 star location! I had visited this David's Bridal location after having a horrible experience at the David's Bridal location in Asheville, NC. I had purchased my wedding gown and accessories at the Asheville location, but ended up bringing everything to the Johnson City, TN location because of the terrible customer service in Asheville. I have probably encountered almost every associate that works at this location and they are wonderful! These ladies and the manager corrected my previously bad experience and turned it into a fairy tale. They reordered my gown in the size I needed and helped me to replace my previously bought accessories for accessories that truly complimented my dress. These ladies were so accommodating and made me feel like a princess. They are extremely knowledgeable with the products and accessories and go above and beyond to make sure that you get what you want. I have worked with Ashley, Miranda, Allie, Casey, and Hannah and they are great! Janet in alterations is fantastic and so helpful! Kathy and Natalee saved the day for us bridesmaids! It was the night before my friends wedding and we had bridesmaids dresses that did not fit well in certain areas, were not the color the bride had wanted, and were just uncomfortable all around. Those dresses were not from David's bridal. After getting with the other bridesmaids and discovering they hated the dress as much as I did we decided to (clear it with the bride first) head on over to David's Bridal. I called before I arrived because it was already 9pm and the normal closing time. The girl answers the phone and I explain our crazy situation. She gets Kathy, the manager, who tells us to come on in! With the help of Natalee willing to stay late and pull every short coral chiffon dress they had in our 3 different sizes we left feeling so much better about spending several hours in dresses that fit better, feel better, and look fabulous on all three of us!! If it hadn't been for these two ladies and their love for their line of work we would have been rushing to get out of the other dresses as soon as possible! First off, I showed up without an appointment and they took the time to work me into their schedule, which was great! Secondly, this was not the first wedding dress shop I had looked at that day. I had gone to other various boutiques, like Annie's Room, that had very little selection and was very disappointing when they only had two dresses I could try on in my size (size 10). David's Bridal was fully stocked with many different styles and had many in my size. My consultant Audrey was amazing. She was patient while I tried to explain what I wanted and when I vetoed most of the dresses I tried on. She walked me through what I liked about each dress to try and narrow down the look I was wanting. I'm glad she was there with me! I did find my dress! It ended up being different from the vision I had walking into the store, but it was well worth all of the effort that went into finding the perfect dress. Even the consultants looked teary-ed as I upheld the David's Bridal tradition of making wishes for both my wedding day and my future before ringing the bell. In all honesty I'm not sure how to even accurately describe how pleased I was with my visit to this David's Bridal. I arrived around noon with my future mother-in-law and my aunt, keep in mind I did this without an appointment. The icing on the cake to this was that I'm getting married in roughly 5 weeks, so to say I may be a difficult client to assist was an understatement. However, we were promptly greeted upon entering and all the staff we encountered were so positive, helpful, reassuring, and upbeat. Cambrie, was whom personally helped me with trying on and finding gowns. I must say she is beyond amazing!! She truly knows how to interact with clients, is knowledgeable, and does whatever she can to make this a wonderful experience, as it should be. She even went as far as to help with accessories. This was the only bridal shop I visited and quiet frankly the only one I needed to, as I found the PERFECT dress for me!! I would recommend this shop without a second thought! The staff was amazing and I will cherish this experience and memory for a lifetime too! read more

Booked an appointment at 1030 to find my perfect wedding dress, and I did! They began promptly, taking me back as soon as I arrived. I was helped by a girl named Emily and she was EXCELLENT!!! She found dresses I would like quickly, and offered helpful suggestions. Found and ordered that dress the same day. It even came in petite size to help save on alterations. My bridesmaids had an appointment immediately after mine. Emily was very helpful finding dresses in the styles I was looking for, and found enough of the same styles so that all of the bridesmaids could try on the same dress at the same time. They also found and ordered their dresses that same day. Only negative to the visit (giving 4 stars instead of 5) was that my bridesmaids had to use one dressing room instead of each having a dressing room. So only one could change at a time. That took a bit longer to try on the dresses. Very successful trip having ordered my wedding dress AND bridesmaids dresses in one visit. Very thankful for Emily's help!! read more

I started my journey to find a wedding dress out last minute and called Sunday evening and they were very helpful with being able to get me an appointment the next morning. I drove over an hour away and got caught in traffic and we were about 10 minutes behind. They were very understanding. My biggest fear with wedding dress shopping was whoever helping me- would rush me- not read me- or just kind of shaft me to the side. I was set up with Olivia Goins and she was none of those. She was very patient with me, asked a lot of questions, was very interactive with everything. I am a plus size bride and sometimes it's hard to see the whole picture or find just the right dress because of it not being in your exact size. She was very honest, told me the pros and cons of each dress based on what I liked and everything. Today was my first day looking at wedding dresses, and I left with my dream dress. Arrived for a 4:30 appointment, and the assistant manager Kathy tried to send me away because they were short staffed since my consultant had been in an automobile accident and I wanted to exchange a dress that had never been worn. After making me cry, I really thought she had ruined what should have been a happy day. But my consultant Olivia Goins saved the day! She made sure I was taken care of and even spoke with the store manager to ensure that everything was smooth and that the exchange would take place. She put me in a fitting room away from other guests and helped me try on a ton of dresses to make sure I was completely satisfied for my wedding day. Olivia (and the store manager) was so great, I've even booked my bridesmaid dresses appointment with her. She definitely made up for the unpleasant beginnings to the appointment. As long as you don't have to deal with the assistant manager Kathy, I would definitely recommend this David's Bridal. read more

Went to David's Bridal on 3/24/15 to pick a wedding gown, and was immediately greeted by smiling faces. My aunt and I were assigned to Morgan as our consultant. She showed us which dresses were within my budget and we looked. Unfortunately, I found nothing, and got very overwhelmed and disappointed. Morgan saw this and immediately went to get help from Kathy. This turned my frown upside down into a HUGE smile!! Within 10 minutes we found a dress that I absolutely fell in love with, and from that point on, 3 other consultants came together and the whole team helped me find my ensemble, from the headband all the way down to my shoes and jewelry. They even got me into alterations that day!!! The ladies at this shop were my heroes! They took a shy and sad woman and helped her turn into a beaming bride to be!!! Thank you ladies so very much!!! To each and every employee at this place.. WOW!!! I had a bad experience at my local David's Bridal and decided to give you all a try.. Boy was I blown away at the difference.. And I am so glad that I made that hour and half trip.. These people ROCK!!! I was teamed up with Casey Ann and this girl is amazing.. She took the time to listen to me and knew exactly what I needed and was looking for.. The managers that was there on Sunday 02/01/2015 hats off to you.. You all have an amazing bunch of girls working for you.. In the business of sales, its the customers that keep you there. From the moment I walked in the door, I thought I knew the exact dress I wanted. Of course I had an entourage of family and friends with me; so I told them that they could all pick out one dress for me to try on! As they were doing that I quickly ran up to Casey and Sarah and told them that I was dead set on the one dress and that I was just trying to be nice to the rest of my party. So, Casey helped me find the dress I wanted and we went on to the dressing room. I tried it on, played around with shoes, tiaras, just little extras before trying on the other 7 dresses!!! Well of course the first one I try on I love!!! And it ended up being the one I bought!! I had an enjoyable experience with all the girls, Casey, Sarah and Tara!!! I set up an appointment with David's Bridal at the Tri-Cities Pink Bridal Show in February. I showed up at the store on 2/28/15 and was immediately greeted and assigned a stylist. Morgan C. was my stylist for the day She was absolutely amazing! She listened to me and my ideas and also contributed some of her own to help me find my perfect dress. I gave her a budget and she stayed very close to my price range. The dress I chose was one that she had picked out for me, and I hadn't even considered it until she suggested it! Also, Kathy was also a big help in my dress choosing. Morgan C. and Kathy cleared the dressing room hallway so I could walk and see my dress. I was nervous about trying on dresses that day, but David's Bridal staff (especially Morgan C.) helped make the day as easy and memorable as possible. Thanks for all the help and work!
