I got it the day before our engagement party and that night three diamonds fell out of the halo, we called them and they told us not to worry, to wear it to the party and they would fix it on Monday. That was really fun to explain over and over again to everyone why there were diamonds missing in a ring I got the day before. We should have told them right then we didn't want it, but didn't want to be difficult, big mistake. They took it back for 10 days, fixed it and then it happened again!! They took it back again for 10 days to fix it and I told them two days after I got it back a third time that the experience was awful and we didn't want a shotty ring for the rest of our lives that I couldn't wear daily, I told them in the first place I was very active and needed a ring that I could wear and not worry about. It should have been simple customer service and a return. They wouldn't return it even though we told them we were not happy, well within their 14 day return window. They said all they could do was sell it to a wholesaler for half price or try and sell it for us in their window, but in order to sell it for us in their window we needed to pay for a second appraisal not done by them, which we did and later found out they charged us an additional $20 on top of the appraisers $45 fee (I found that out when I used the same appraiser to appraise my current ring) talk about insult to injury!!! It has now been two months since we first told them we were not happy. We decided a few days ago to cut our losses and move on and take the half price wholesaler deal, so we spent a good chunk of cash on absolutely nothing. I happened to be looking all over Vancouver for a very special design for my engagement ring and dropped by Gurvin Jewellers again, as they were on my list of fine jewellers to check out. I walked in and began looking around their store, which I later found out is a brand new location just up the block from their old store. I wanted something very unique as I had a specific design in mind. I met with Michael Gurvin, the owner and we sat down and began discussing my ideas. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and most kind and patient as we made some drawings and refined the design. An hour or so later we nailed it and he then showed me some diamonds which were the most lively and brilliant I had seen in my search. We agreed on a one and a half carat diamond for the center and I gave him a deposit. Two days later I received the computer generated imaging he promised I would get, showing front, top, side and end views of my ring. It was very exciting to see it prior to having it made. I called him and gave Michael the go ahead. Two weeks later I arrived with my fiancee and picked up the ring. It was everything I imagined and more. The knowledge and information i received was so valuable and I have total confidence to refer a few of my girl friends who are also shopping for engagement rings in the near future. Kudos for their great customer service. --

I think the name of the woman I spoke with was Monica. As soon as she heard I had a ring from People's, all she would tell me is that I had to go there to have it repaired. I told her that I would rather pay more to have it fixed locally because People's sends it out East. I kept trying to mention my family ring (because I absolutely would NOT send that anywhere in case it got lost) but she refused to listen and just kept saying, "go back to People's!". I literally almost cried because I'm so attached to that ring and it breaking was already so stressful. Anyways, I went to Independent Goldsmith, paid twice what I would have at People's in order to keep it local, and received excellent service. I would not recommend LL Private Jewellers at all, absolute crap service.

I had quotes from 2 jewellers that were much higher and that included up to 10 days in wait times. When I called LL (open til 9pm! so convenient for us 9-5ers!) they said to come right in, and as soon as I found the building (it's that old one on Granville you always pass but never noticed) they buzzed me in to their little studio. They were real, honest and friendly during the consult, quoted me MUCH less than the others and said they'd have it 2 days later! I went to pick up my ring today and it fits perfectly, I realized the reviews were all true, they made me feel comfortable and extremely satisfied with the end result. I'll definitely recommend their no-nonsense, amazing work to my friends and go back to them if I need anything else!

For our tenth wedding anniversary, it was time for a ring upgrade. Coming from California, where we…read morehad been loyal customers to a single jeweller for years, it was time to find someone new in our new forever home. It started with some simple repairs, sort of a test. I gave them a broken necklace and an heirloom bracelet in need of repair. They were quick, communicative, and did quality work, so we moved forward with my custom rings. The process of designing my dream set was better than I hoped for! I made an appointment with Linda, the daughter of the family business, and omg I ADORE her! Every design detail and curveball I threw her way she met with a "yes, and!" Euroshank? Excellent choice. Mixed metals in 14k instead of the more expensive 18k? We love durability! Lab diamond and moissanite? We're not snobs, bring on the double-refractive sparkle! It all started with choosing my center stone. Linda guided me through their supplier's inventory in a super personal process and gave me plenty of time to choose "the one". Then, I said goodbye to my current 5-year anniversary band so the stones could be integrated. Once everything was measured, it was inputted in their system for a design render. They got the engagement ring spot-on on the first try, completely understanding my vision! We went through maybe 5 different versions of bands to perfectly complement it, tweaking to my description until it was perfect. Then, they let me try the wax model and see my diamond, which was a surprisingly emotional experience. Then, with my written approval, it was time to build it. There was a tiny hiccup in sourcing the marquise-shaped moissanite stones, so they offered lab diamonds at no additional cost. But I was happy to wait the short two weeks to have them custom cut. (They were so sweet to avoid inconveniencing me and were on TOP of the communication this whole time! Linda was happy to text quick updates, which was my preference over email.) Less than 3 months after my initial appointment, my dream rings were on my finger. I cannot stop staring at them, they are so exquisite! Anthony, Linda's brother, facilitated the handoff, and he is a delightful young man with the hands of a craftsman. He removed the remaining stone from my old ring with tremendous care, which I took home for a future project. Plus he gave me very fair credit on my bill for the gold in the old setting (I didn't want it). I told them, and I meant it, that they have a customer for life. Linda told me to come by for free cleaning and inspections any time, and I will certainly take them up on that and sing their praises to anyone who asks. P.S. they are very good about asking to validate your parking lol

It pains me to give them this review because I had an emotional attachment to this store. Myself…read moreand my sibling and siblings-in-laws have all got their engagement rings from here. I got an engagement ring, the wedding band and an additional band a couple years later for an anniversary....all 3 were slightly different sizes but they said not to worry as there is a free sizing for each at any point. I then had 2 kids in under 2 years so I didn't want to get the free sizing as my fingers were not their normal size during pregnancy and I told them this when I went in and they agreed with with me. After my babies I took in all 3 rings to finally get them sized and one band had lost a tiny side diamond. When I brought them in they quoted me $800 - to size down 2 rings, replace a tiny side stone and they also said I had another stone that was cracked that they wanted to replace and then to clean it up they were going to rhodium plate it. I took the rings in on Saturday and he said I'd hear by Thursday but it actually took 2 weeks to even get that quote. I called and asked for a breakdown and told the guy (I dealt with the tall man with a shaved head - he is not who we dealt with when we got ANY of the rings or any of the times we were back) they always told me I had a free sizing and he said maybe that was the old way but you have to use it within 2 weeks of getting the ring. He was decent but a bit on the rude size that I'd expect free sizing a couple years later. But I was frustrated because if they said there's a free sizing in the lifetime then I didn't want to now pay $400 just to size down 2 rings....if they had told me this all along I would have done it right away. I asked for a breakdown and not just a total and the breakdown was ridiculous...it took a while and all he told me was the cost per ring. For example one ring had a sizing, a missing diamond and a rhodium played so that will cost $XXX. They couldn't just tell me the sizing cost $XXX, the 2 diamonds to replace would cost $XXX, the rhodium will cost $XXX. I absolutely didn't like the service from this guy so I took the rings back and I took it to another jewellers that we love. They sized all the rings, replaced the stone and they said they didn't see any other stones with a crack or issue and they polished it up...the total was $200 and my rings looks brand new. They also even gave me the tiny bit of gold out of the ring from sizing down. They were incredible and unfortunately I lost a lot of trust in Minichiello's. We have recommended them in the past but unfortunately, they don't seem like the sweet family run business that we loved...they definitely have a bit of a money grab when it comes to getting your repairs done their and they didn't stick to their word. I'm also still upset that they claimed I had another stone they wanted to replace when there wasn't. I'll still take it to a 3rd jewellers to see if they see anything but if not, that was a scam and I'm highly disappointed.

I had been looking for the perfect ring for a few months now to no avail. I had checked practically…read moreevery jewelry store in Edmonton and a few around Vancouver and couldn't find anything that existed that resembled what I was picturing in my head. I was looking for a three stone ring with a center sapphire, flanked by two diamonds, accented by a few diamonds along each side of the band. I finally decided to simply get the ring custom made and kept getting quotes from jewellers in Edmonton and Vancouver that were over twice the budget I gave them. Not to mention most quoted me for a center sapphire of 8mm when I only wanted 4mm. Some stores even told me that they could not get a 4mm princess cut sapphire or that one of that size would not look good and would be too small. Just when I was ready to give up, Minichiello came back to me with a quote that was only slightly above the budget I had given them. They even offered to bring in sapphires for me to look at, which were all gorgeous and exactly what I had pictured. They produced a wax mould of the ring within a week for my approval and the completed ring was done two weeks after. Unbeknownst to me, they tried to finish in a week so it would be ready in time for my birthday, but I was glad that they wanted to ensure the ring was perfect and didn't compromise quality for time. They even sized it down for me after I tried it on for a weekend, as it was warm the day they measured my finger. I absolutely love the finished result and am very happy with the quality of the ring, as well as the service! I have received so many compliments and I will not hesitate to have future rings made at Minichiello! Thank you so much Emma and Maren!
