The others were more inclined to go through the marketing speak without explaining the numbers and the pros and cons. He was really helpful and was always available. One thing about getting a mortgage is that your relationship with your loan officer does not end on the first meeting. There is this constant back and forth with numbers trying to figure out all the financial what if questions for each house you find. He was always there to help and provide advice whatever time of day. I give Dave an A+ on customer service. Our closing went by without a hitch and ahead of schedule. Honestly, the whole process was too easy to be true, but it was. I always had this notion (from hearing others experiences) that closing was hectic, complicated with lots of commotion and paperwork flying all over the place, but it was far from that. One afternoon, Dave just called and said "congratulations, the house is yours". I felt like I had to do more work but I'm glad it's all over. Well were do we start? Me and my wife got a pre approval back in December 2019 from David. Our situation is a little difficult being self employed. We put the offer in on the house and had it accept and moved in Jan 1st as the sellers wanted to close on March 23rd. We agreed to pay rent till then and go into escrow. David was worried about my taxes so he had me do them and not file them as he wanted underwriting to go over them and make sure the numbers added up etc. I did my taxes and forward them to him Feb 25th. He assured us that they were with underwriting and they were just backed up with Covid19. Every day I am calling/texting him asking if I can file my taxes, it comes to March 12th and apparently it is STILL with underwriting, he also tells me that he is leaving the company and my file will be taken on by someone else. I call around and speak to Mark Robertson who looks at my file, tells me that NOTHING was done, the figures were not inputted, he NEVER sent the file anywhere! Thanks to Mark, he got our file all taken care of and we closed. As a first time home buyer I found David to be an excellent loan officer. I was easily able to use my VA benefit to purchase a condo in Point Loma. David was able to structure the vast majority of my closing costs into the structure of the loan for only about $35/mo additional.
