Welcome back to Humanity! After receiving one year of refinance offers I was confused and didn't know who to TRUST. The Griffin Funding Group was spoken highly about on Veterans Administration website. So, I started my inquiries very carefully. I even went to the Mortgage Bankers Association website which highly recommended The Griffin Funding Group as their Number One lender for V.A. Loans. This made me feel very secure that this company would be able to assist me in the Re-Finance of my existing V. A. home. I called and spoke to "Seth Aguilar" of The Griffin Funding Group. He was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable when answering all of my difficult questions. He never pressured me once during our conversation. I explained that I was on vacation in Puerto Rico visiting family for 30 days and would not be able to finalize anything until I got back home in San Diego, California. His answer was "No Problem", we can work with you and answer any questions that you may have. I proceeded with the long distance loan process on May 13, 2021 from Puerto Rico. I was immediately greeted by his senior associate "Anthony Benigno" who answered more of my difficult questions. The Griffin Funding Group provided a "Fee's Worksheet" as a example of proposed home loan. Well, by the time I got to San Diego, California we were able to sign closing documents by June 14, 2021. The last person, and the strongest member of the group assisted me with our existing documents, her name is," Lexie Estrada". She assisted me in finalizing signatures and documents needed to finish the loan process. She was exceptionally warm, courteous, and confident in how she carefully handled my V.A. loan documents. Thank you Lexie for your kindness during these unsteady "COVID 19 CRISIS TIMES". The wonderful story ended in this fashion: I reduced my interest from a 3.5% V.A. loan to a 2.25% V.A. loan. I went from a $2,100 monthly payment to a $1,548.00 monthly payment, which a huge savings of $552/month savings for the next 30 years. At first, my lovely wife had questions which was delicately answered by the Senior Loan Officer: "Anthony Benigno". Thank you Anthony. I will not have to make 2 monthly loan payments which is a savings of $4,200, and now I can live comfortably with my wife and my 100% disability income after serving 22 years as a Hospital Corpsman First Class in the Navy. I am the guy who did not think it was possible to get a piece of the low interest rate pie due to being self-employed. I needed to go with a non-traditional bank statement loan / no tax docs and that is not an easy task, so I thought. Now let me tell you something......If you go ANYWHERE other Griffin Funding looking for a bank statement / no tax doc loan, you will be penalized via your interest rate. I had already began looking and talking to a few of the companies out there who flood the web and your email if you so much as ask a question about a refi on the internet. I called a few and they said sorry we don't do bank statement loans. I called a few others and they said we can get you funding but your rate will be in the 7's or 8's !! Finally all of my research and work paid off one night in mid June. I left a message with Griffin Funding that evening and a few minutes later I get a call from a gentleman named Guy . I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Guy was going to be the one who made this happen for me. He was professional, courteous and patient. He took his time to explain everything to me in detail. Next in line to serve me was the happiest lady in San Diego Meagan A. I often wondered along the way if she ever had a bad day. She was always so happy and cheerful. Meagan was my quarterback and she is the one who drove my loan across the goal line in 41 days. Every time I text or emailed Meagan, she responded promptly with a clear answer. Meagan made the whole process seem so simple. She truly made it a walk in the park. Fair warning ......Guy and Meagan work fast. You must be on your toes and alert. They do not mess around and waste your time. There is no waiting game. They make things happen fast period. The bottom line is this. If you think you cant get a competitive rate because you are self employed and cant show tax docs, you really really need to get ahold of GUY and MEAGAN immediately. They will treat you like first class royalty, and you will get a piece of the low interest rate just as they did for me. Meagan and Guy, You guys saved me over $600 a month! If they find a better refinancing rate, they only offer and send the options when only when requested and financially beneficial for the customer. For example, we were only contacted when interested rates fell .5% below our current mortgage rate and there was no hidden cost. I have even sent the company random advertisements that seemed like unbelievable offers that I received from other mortgage companies. They took the time to explain how it was a gimmick intended to trap prospective customers with many hidden and unexpected costs at closing. Their final response was that our current mortgage was the best option at the moment and they would contact me only if a better and overall lower rate became available. My name is Anabelle Little and I want to start by saying I have been a Mortgage Underwriter for well over 15 years and I just closed escrow on my VA Loan Refinancing with Griffing Funding. My experience with Griffin Funding couldn't have been any better. Prior to connecting with them, I called several lenders even the Bank I work with, they couldn't give me the interest rate I wanted, Wells Fargo offered a 3.25% 30-Year Fixed Jumbo initially but they denied me because of a Loan Mod they did for me back in 2011 which is over 4 years, the length of time you wait for a Short-Sale if there was even a waiting period which is not, I remind you I am in the industry, in any event, I was very disappointed in the stupidity that there is when you have a NO risk loan meaning high Fico Scores, Low DTI, Low LTV and extenuating circumstances that were actually documented and you still got rejected, no common sense. Whatever I said I will go a different avenue, conventional conforming didn't provide me the rate so I went VA Loan, Wells Fargo actually wanted to do my VA loan and I signed initial disclosures, at one point or another I decided to keep looking because I felt the fees were still too high, Griffin Funding got my email and responded within minutes, not only they replied fast they did their due diligence, the email had an attached Estimated LE with no Lender Fees, I was shocked in a good way, I couldn't believe there was a Lender out there that will take so little just to help, I immediately cancelled my transaction with Wells and went with Griffin Funding. My Loan Officer Erik Jensen and my Processor Kristi Manion were so AMAZING, the knowledge was impressive, their customer service was impeccable. They were with me every step of the way, even when the work for my Section One items for my Termite Inspections was going sideways, they were there to guide me and comfort me, they knew what they were doing with a Rate Lock expiring just when all the work was done, they could predict the closing date, this can only come with experience and wisdom. I will refer anyone to Griffin that needs a loan of any kind. I do not live anywhere near Griffin Funding in San Diego, but the process was extraordinarily smooth! I have had the best positive experience going through a loan process with Griffin Funding due to both Sarah H and Kristi M. You know the feeling when you know yourself that you pay your debts always on time especially the mortgage? Then you decide to phone these businesses that mail you advertisement on how they can lower your mortgage payment and you have been approved and to give them a call? Then you get hold of them and after paying them the application fee they inform you that their manager at some high office did not approve it? Do you know what it feels like to be rejected because of some ratio chart they use to determine whether you can pay or not. Well it is very disappointing even you know all those past years you were always on time to pay your debts and they couldn't trust you. I hope I can articulate how ecstatic I am and appreciative I am for Griffing Funding. If it hadn't been for Michael Varni contacting me and initiating refinancing my home through Griffing Funding, I would be lost. I had an encounter with Quicken Loans that wasn't a good fit to say the least. They, Quicken, made me feel uncredit worthy and attacked my character after I stop the refi with them because they couldn't do what I was asking. I'm (nearly) at a loss for words to express how pleased (OK, giddy) I am that, among the unwashed masses of mortgage brokers, I found Griffin Funding! All of us Griffin Funding clients/reviewers probably experienced similar overwhelm at the sheer enormity of paperwork required to put together a presentable refi or mortgage package in this post-2008 meltdown era. From the first not-so-simple question (conventional or VA?), I was impressed and grateful that I was working with SMART, experienced professionals who took their job and my loan seriously. Neither Colby Freer nor William Lyons shied away from researching and then answering the hard questions. Having dealt with more than my share of worthless (read: lazy, stupid, or both) brokers/agents, I really could not believe my good fortune. I truly expected the pedestal to crumble during the 3+month process. Not so!! Colby and Sara Demerest communicated their expectations clearly, their paperwork was reliable, and their commitment was unwavering. It took over 3 months to close. Part of it was Caliber Home Loans fault. However, I was a little disappointed with the communication between Griffin (Manson MacDonald) and myself. I had to call a lot to find out what was going on, etc. Sometimes, it would take over 2 days after I left messages for them to call. Also, I received over 100 letters from lenders and all of them stated that my VA IRRRL refinance would have no costs out of my pocket. However, I ended up paying $577 at a bad time (caused me NSF - $34 from my bank - Chase). Also, when I thought we were close to closing, Manson called me and said that there was a lien on my home. Why didn't Griffin find the lien on my home much earlier?? I had to initiate a lot of calls to Griffin during the whole process which, as I said, took over 3 months!! Caliber Home Loans did NOT send my my final check (escrow) until 3 weeks after we closed! I almost felt that after Griffin got it's if money from the refi, the communication seemed to really get a lot worse and I had to call a few more times than before and it took a day or 2 to get a reply, which a few times was very vague! In other words, I didn't feel that I got exactly a "straight" answer or sometimes, did not answer my question and I seem to get an answer that skirted my actual inquiry! read more

It was a long detailed informational process. However, the staff at Griffin Funding walked us thru with patience, explanations along the way, clarity and a few laughs from time to time. We had tried 2 other funding/loan companies ( one that advertised on TV). They got us close and then was unable to finalize because of the VA component. Griffin Funding went the distance with determination to get a "jumbo" loan using the VA benefits at a lower rate,thereby giving us a significant monthly savings. It took longer than a 30 day closing but they got to the finish line.Michael would give us a call and it kept us hanging in there. I got a sense they really worked as a team. Each player kept all players updated on the progress of the refinancing of our home.Thanks to the entire Griffin staff especially Colby who we communicated with the most once the process started.
