I have had cancer twice so trying to stay on top of my health issues. Dr. Wong ordered an MRI which I had done about 3 weeks ago. I am still waiting for a response from Dr. Wong. I have sent 3 messages through the John Muir portal plus leaving messages for him at his office but still NO response. I can't believe the lack of care/concern that I have received. My husband had a colonoscopy and when he was finished the doctor came out and said " Your results look good, but I think you have Celiac disease, go get a blood test". He got the blood test and never heard back from Dr. Wong. After pushing my husband to call the office, it took another month to get a phone visit with Dr. Wong. So now three months after his colonoscopy, he waits one hour on the zoom for the Doc to get on. As soon as he does, Dr. Wong says "you're positive". My husband said "positive for what"?. He said Celiac. So for three months, my husband continued to eat gluten and was still losing weight, but the doctor couldn't be bothered to follow up. I was steaming mad. Needless to say, we found another gastroenterologist. The only reason for the extra star, is the colonoscopy itself went fine. read more

We used Dr.Wong's services for several years managing symptoms of a rare disease. He has many, many patients and because of this, he is rushed and usually late to clinic appointments and outpatient procedures. You can feel the anxiousness on him. It was only after needing to move on to see a specialist that we saw how truly disturbing Dr. Wong's practices were. When confronted with our new found knowledge we received a cold shoulder from him after 5+ years of "care". We were disheartened, to say the least. To sum up my complaints: -- Gastro procedures/colonoscopies done with a heavy hand result in pain and discomfort after. Please research what a procedure entails from start to finish and the possible side effects of a job poorly done. -- The office keeps horrible records on visit notes and billing. Keep your own notes. -- Dr. Wong's attitude is somewhat obnoxious when you press for accountability. Ask questions, be involved in your care, do not allow yourself to be mulled along (like we did for years). read more

I just had colonoscopy today at Dr. Wong's facility. Everyone there was so kind and gentle. They took good care of me!

This guy should not be able to practice medicine. He is a horrible doctor and quite frankly a horrible person. I was experiencing stomach issues when I was 15 and went to see Dr Wong for the first time. He told me nothing was wrong with me I'm just being a "teenager" He would not even treat me, do any tests, really wouldn't talk to me at all, until I went through 6 psychology sessions. I was forced to go through these BS sessions or else I would not be able to get treated for whatever my problems are. He did very minimal testing for me, but one he did he did completely WRONG. I was having an endoscopy and pH balance test done. Being a minor, my parents signed my sedation papers and then the nurses took me back to get ready for the procedure. About 10 seconds before we started the test Dr. Wong decided he was going to do this WITHOUT ANY sedation. None of the nurses knew what was going on or why he was doing this. This test was torture, having a tube being shoved down my throat while being completely awake and then attaching a device to the bottom of my esophagus. I was terrified. After being completely assaulted I was removed from the procedure room and in to recovery. The nurse ran to get my mom and my mom was demanding why I was screaming and crying. The nurse explained that Dr. Wong decided to not use anesthesia at the last minute and she was not sure why he decided to do so. She apologized over and over for what I had to go through. Dr. Wong does not care for his patients. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!!!!!!!! read more

WARNING, avoid Dr David Wong at any expense! He is a careless doctor and a total jerk! I first saw him for a simple endoscopy in June of 2011, uneventful. I later discussed with him surgery to fix my long term reflux. He admitted that the procedure he performs is sub standard where as he goes down via the esophagus and creates a make shift valve in the top of the stomach with little plastic clips that can break or pull out and don't last long. I decided to get a Nissen Fundoplication, the gold standard surgery for reflux, which requires a more in depth surgery than what Dr Wong is capable of at his speciality level. I had this surgery on 01-05-2012. I was having pains and complications after this surgery (which I know now was gall bladder stones, well within the realm of what a descent GI doctor could diagnose). I returned to Dr Wong on 02-18-2012 to see if he could help diagnose what the problem was. After two short minutes in the room, his response to me as he walked out the door was "You made the decision to get the surgery done by Dr. _____, let him figure it out". Unbelievably unprofessional to be told that by a doctor! After finally being correctly diagnosed, by my regular doctor no doubt, I had my gall bladder removed on 05-29-2012. Still suffering from the same pains the following week, it was determined that I had stones that had slipped into my common bile duct and would require a procedure called ERCP. I had the ERCP done on June 8th, 2012 by Dr Wong. When I woke up, I was in severe pain and my abdomen was swelling. I had to have an emergency surgery performed by a real surgeon on June 11, 2012 to save my life. Dr Wong had torn the area between my bile duct and my intestine and it wreaked havoc on my body. I had severe pancreatitis, a collapsed right lung, massive amounts of caustic fluid buildup in my abdomen along with numerous other problems and tons of pain. I spent over a week in the ICU and a total of 7 weeks in the hospital. I had two drain tubes sticking out of my stomach draining fluid and spent over three weeks with an NG tube constantly vacuuming out my stomach (hell on earth if you've never had an NG tube). Not to mention the scar of 24 staples that runs from my solar plexus to below my belly button. As I write this today on Aug 4, 2012 I am still suffering. I'm home now, but my intestines are still so inflamed that they won't work. I have a picc line in my arm and have to be hooked up to an IV machine for over half the day. I can barely drink water and haven't eaten in 2 months. I still have abdominal pain, no energy and other complications. I have no way to tell at this point if the symptoms with my intestines are temporary inflammation or if they are adhesions which will require more surgeries or long term complications. The real kicker is that for the first four days after the surgery, Dr Wong walked into my ICU room to "treat" me. His idea of treatment was to stand five feet from the foot of the bed with a scowl on his face and his arms crossed and say over and over "I don't think there is a tear". Just for the record, if all my symptoms weren't enough to prove he had botched the surgery, the CT scan clearly showed a tear. After four days of this inaction, we fired him. He had the nerve to walk back in the room after we fired him and say "I understand". NO WONG, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND! I can tell you over the next 7 weeks I met several great GI doctors and received actual treatment and care from them. Spare yourself and/or your loved ones from the potential of this type of suffering and go somewhere else. There are some wonderful GI doctors in this immediate area, Dr David Wong is NOT one of them! read more

Saw Dr. Wong and my initial impression was he was good. He listened, he took notes, he asked questions. He performed all the typical "nursing" duties himself. So I felt like I got great attention from him. Had bloodwork...now cannot get him to call me back about the bloodwork. I've left 4 voicemails over 4 days. Every time I call, they tell me "I'll give him the message", however, that doesn't seem to be working as he has yet to call me back. I'm not sure I would consider this doctor attentive, who considers a persons health as his first priority. As of right now, I feel like a forgotten patient. I cannot refer Dr. Wong or TriValley Gastro. I'd advise going elsewhere. read more

Dr. Wong was my primary physician when my Crohn's disease was unmanageable. Later I moved to the East Coast and where there is a crisis I still seek Dr. Wong's counsel. His competency is amazing. I can't write a bad enough review of this "doctor". He gets 1/2 star at best. My sister went in for a colonoscopy and Wong took out 10 polyps. Told her she had 60 more that he couldn't remove and that she would likely need a colostomy/bag. In addition, she bled profusely from the procedure and ended up in the hospital. My sister was a basket case for two months until we talked her in to getting a second opinion. She just had a colonoscopy with a real doctor today and her life is back on track. She only had nine polyps, which were removed, and so far, no bleeding. Don't believe Dr Wong! Get s second opinion! read more

I went in for a Preventative Colon Check on April 15th 2015, I was the first patient at 6:30 am. Not only was he late for my procedure, two days prier he was late for my husbands Colon Check. I was in the procedure room for at least 10 minutes before the Anesthesiologist said he's here, then put me under (never saw the Dr.)by this time he had three more patients lined up. My husband saw at least 5 Paramedics go into the procedure room, then the Nurse took my husband in the back room in the corner away from other patients to Dr. David T. Wong he told my husband "I cut your Wife" the paramedics are going to take her the the hospital for Surgery my husband asked is she going be alright ..Dr. Wong's reply I don't know. Next thing I know I was rushed to San Ramon Regional Hospital with a Punctured Colon (again No Dr. Wong) I was in Surgery for 5 1/2 hours. Total stay at the Hospital was 1 week 4 of those nights in the Cardiac Unit. My heart rate was 197 beats per minute. The Cardiac Dr. advised my husband to stay at the hospital, because of the Critical Situation with me. 7 days in the hospital total medical bills was $240K, Co. payments was $5,000.00 (OUT of POCKET) He also billed our Insurance Co. $1,500.00 for an Incomplete Preventative Colon Check. Not to mention an 8 inch Scar. The billing staff was Incompetent.......Dr.. David T. Wong No Remorse and No Rescores.. .. . I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. read more

In short, I have waited for total of 45 minutes, 15 minutes in the front office and 30 minutes in the patient's room, to see Dr. Wong. During this 45 minutes nobody has shown any curtesy or interest to let me know for how long I have to wait or why my visit being delayed. In my way out I told the front desk that have to leave to get to my next medical appointment (she already knew about my medical appointment, I had told her when I first got there) her response was "OK". She didn't even bother to ask if wanted to make another appointment or explain the delay. This is simply a case of overbooking to protect their bottom line. I have blame Dr. Wong for not having a proper oversight on his front desk as how his patients are being treated before he get to see (or not in my case) them. read more

I HIGHLY PRAISE Dr. David Wong, for being an excellent Gastroenterologist. For five years he as helped me deal with my Crohn's/Colitis Disease, that was first diagnosed in Houston, TX (2001-2002). When I moved back to CA I needed to find a new Gastroenterologist. I tried three doctors in the area before I found Dr. Wong. I knew when I first met him that he was the doctor for me. It took three hospitalizations of one week each and one for the month of December, all in 2009, for him to skillfully and compassionately get me through some very tricky flare ups. It was not his fault that in addition to a severely bleeding colon, it was found that I had a "deep vein thrombosis" (blood clot) in my leg. During mt month's stay in San Ramon Regional Hospital (which I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND), I was tested in so many tests and procedures that I can hardly remember all of them. I do remember the "vina cave filter" that was inserted from my groin to an area just above my navel, to prevent the clot from traveling to my lungs. Toward the end of my month's hospital stay and one "critical event" that landed me in ICU for four days and many blood transfusions... it appeared that i would have to have my colon removed and wear a bag. I was given a lot of information about the surgery and met my surgeon the evening before I was to have the surgery. MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! Around 2 AM I used the bathroom, and for the first time in four weeks there was no blood!!! Then again in the morning...no bleeding. I called Dr Wong, we both celebrated and called off the surgery. We discussed a drug Remicade and he fully informed me about what it would do, and what the risks might be. He let me make the decision. I had my first Remicade infusion before I left the hospital, and I have continued until the present. I have had no IBS/Crohn's/Colitis symptoms for almost three years. Dr. Wong did not cause my IBS, nor do I credit him with my personal "miracle" but, I do give him full credit and my sincere gratitude for being the professional, caring, trustworthy, Gastroenterologist that I still rely on today. I went to see him as there was a little mucous discharge after the bowel movement. He did nothing but giving me silly explanation about bio-feedback saying you are anal sprinter is too tight eat more fiber. He asked me to come fro a colonoscopy. After the exam also no solution, I went to another Physician Dr. Peter Tuxen in Stockton. It took this Doctor one sitting and 15 minutes of Rubber band ligation of the prolapsed area, and completely cured withing a week. Dr. Wong, all he would do is bunch of Endoscopies, colonoscopies, and make easy money. Don't go there, he is too lazy to do procedures, Avoid him at all costs. . read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Wong for nearly 10 years - he has perforned several colonoscopies on me and used advanced imaging techniques to correctly diagnose my Crohn's disease. Treatment of my condition has been complicated by allergies to the most common drugs, and he has worked with me to find altenative drug therapy. He is an excellent gastroenterologist, very intelligent, knowledgeable of current developments, and cares about his patients. He works late into the evening to return calls to his patients, and visits his patients in the hospital when possible. It sounds like a handful of patients have had unfortunate experiences, but I am not convinced that Dr. Wong was at fault for their problems. I would highly recommend him. read more

When dealing with medical issues you would think hiring caring staff is a priority. All other offices & medical issues I had were handled via an email website but I told they don't even have email. ??? Not sure what made me think of Dr. Wong or maybe everything I have gone through is what made me think of him this morning and felt I needed to see other's opinions and experiences. I originally saw Dr. Wong in 2008 shortly after I relocated to the East Bay and was quickly dx. with Ulcerative Colitis given meds for a couple of months and told that in 3-5 years I would need another Colonoscopy since I recovered quickly I didn't need to see him until November 2012 when my UC came back with flare! I scheduled an appointment with my Gastroenterologist and another Colonoscopy was completed and found to be flaring. I was nieve. Never researched Ulcerative Colitis when I was Dx. because in 2008 it was a 2-3 month issue but now it was 2012 and I was in a lot pain, loosing weight amd not keeping food down or in. That Fall I saw Dr. Wong regularly. Was placed on tons of medications, had complications and ended up in the hospital. That Fall/Winter I went from 175 down to 130 lbs. Trusting my Doctor I took everything he gave me, listen to all him advice and because I was seeing him regularly I was confident we would figure this out. I end up in the hospital in December he shows up. I end up again in January he shows up. At this point I am on about 25 different pills per day. I improve a bit and I am tapered of some medicines. Then I hit the fan again in May 2013 and Dr. Wong never showed. Never returned the hospital doctors calls. I was left hanging! Not sure what happened but I didn't have time. I was in bad shape. Thank goodness for John Muir Hospital and their staff I am alive. Leaving the hospital I found a new great Gastroenterology Doctor. I am about to have my 2 year anniversary of my 1st huge Ulcerative Colitis flare and I was thinking of my journey. Hoping Dr. Wong doesn't forget to call his patients that hung from his every word he said. I understand now Ulcerative Colitis is complicated and I don't have an easy case but I deserved follow thru. read more

I've had 3 colonoscopies with Dr Wong. 2001, 2006 and 2012. In all cases, I found his care to be excellent. The first was done at San Ramon Regional Medical Center Outpatient Building so process was more cumbersome due to the hospital requirements. The last two were done at the San Ramon Endoscopy Center which is organized specifically to make the process as efficient as possible. In at 9am out before 11am. I've been given complete information about my results and the opportunity to ask questions. Dr. Wong's nurse called on the next business day to check in and make sure I was okay. They also provide a evaluation form with a stamped envelope asking for patient feedback. read more

Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done and Dr Wong and staff at the SRR center were very good, caring and professional.

The bowel cleansing prior to the procedure is the difficult part. The procedure itself is the easy part. I had upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in March 2013 under sedation. I slept through the entire procedure and woke up seeing my wife in the recovery room. I received the results of my biopsies after about 4 weeks. I plan to return and repeat the procedure in 5 years as recommended. read more

I should have read the reviews before going to Dr. Wong. Sounds like I have been lucky as I have not had any bad experiences with 2 colonoscopies and endoscopies. My primary care Doctor was not happy however that he performed the last endoscopy for no medical reason. Before reading the reviews my primary complaint has been the staff and the sometimes as long as 1&1/2 hour wait and once I even left because of it and no one seemed to care; I guess it was too common of a complaint. When I made an appointment to be his first patient of the day at 9:00 and arrived to find 3 people ahead of me and still had to wait an hour; they do not care nor did he when I complained to him. They are haughty, rude and uncaring. I have a history of colon cancer 12 years ago so take my tests seriously but will not be returning to him. I am surprised that the word is not out more in the community. Thank you to those who shared their amazing stories; I am lucky not to be one of them. read more
