I unfortunately don't come here often enough. One, I'm not based in Leeds, and two, if I am in Leeds, I don't do the cafe thing. However, every now and again, I'm in the city, working all day Saturday and Sunday. Typically it's been a late one the night before, and if anything's guaranteed to perk me up, well it's one of Davids Sarnies.
David Street Cafe is my favourite place to go for a greasy spoon in Leeds. I'll be honest, I did prefer it when it was based round the corner and it was a 'proper' greasy spoon - you know the kind I mean, where everything you touch is a little bit 'greasy'. These days, David & Co have moved and everything is brand spanking clean, sigh.
However, you can't knock the food. Sarnies, jacket potatoes, cakes and crisps are the usual fayre. And if what you want isn't t on the menu, never fear, David will go out of his way to provide your choice of filling.
And that's just it; that's what I love about David Street Cafe, the good old fashioned service, where nothing's too much trouble.
As I mentioned earlier, I don't go in often enough. Sometimes it's months between visits. Yet David always remembers me, and asks what I'm up to. And no, I've not given this four stars because he remembers me! Honestly folks, it;s a great little spot. read more
