I expected a referral to a specialist, but instead he began to treat it himself: ordering an MRI and putting me in a immobility brace. The treatments he prescribed caused me to develop new chronic illnesses. While failing to treat and resolve a patient's illness may be common in the medical community, and can be excusable, his attitude changed over time as I failed to improve. He showed signs of disbelief and began to dismiss my symptoms. I think he got in over his head by trying to treat my symptoms himself and couldn't accept his failure. Ultimately, he stopped helping me with this problem and I stopped being his patient.

I've dealt with complex medical issues recently which were overwhelming, but Dr. Armstrong makes me feel heard, and completely supported every step of the way. He listens deeply to my concerns, takes my personal health goals seriously, and never rushes through our appointments. During stressful moments when symptoms felt unstable, he provided immediate clarity and guidance on exactly what steps to take next. I almost lost out because I was discouraged by the wait as a new patient. He is truly wonderful--his bedside manner is outstanding, he is patient, listens carefully, and is genuinely compassionate. He always takes the time to make sure I feel heard and understood, which is so important in healthcare. The entire office staff is equally amazing. They've assisted me with additional requests such as filling out applications and other administrative needs, always with kindness and efficiency. It's rare to find a medical practice where both the doctor and staff care so deeply about their patients. I feel very lucky to have Dr. Armstrong as my physician and highly recommend his practice to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy family doctor.

Recently I broke my leg so severely that after four days in a hospital, I was confined to Lake…read moreForest Nursing Center for seven weeks (see my review on this superb facility). I just moved to the area so didn't have a physician here. Because I could not get to a doctor's office for the first weeks after arrival, the nursing center provided me with a primary care physician who sees patients at the home to coordinate my care. They also provided me with an orthopedic specialist (see my review of Henry Bruce MD). Candidly, I did not know what to expect from physicians assigned to me by the nursing home. The primary care doctor that they assigned to me is Cameron Khavarian, MD. Although I am not a physician, I was head of public relations and patient relations for a 1,000 bed medical center, as well as a consultant to several others. Having worked with so many physicians and handled all manner of doctor-patient issues I may have a different perspective (more critical with higher expectations) than the typical patient. With that in mind, I have to say that by any measure, Dr. Khavarian (Dr. K) is at the top of the list of the best physicians I have known or who have treated me. He is extremely knowledgeable and very responsive. And, he's a very nice guy! If you think that old fashioned "bedside manner," has vanished, you simply haven't met Dr. K. Couple that with today's technology, and Dr. K was a quick email or a phone call away when I or the nurses needed a change or addition to medications, or a different treatment regime. When it was important that I personally meet with him, he was always there within a very reasonable amount of time. Throughout my stay, and for the follow-up aftercare, he was patient and understanding, and was both a superb medical practitioner and advocate for me at the home and with my insurance providers. In addition to the broken leg (a tibia plateau fracture) and related conditions, Dr. K diagnosed a number of annoying persistent ailments I have endured and prescribed treatments that simply made it vanish. If you or a loved one is confined to a nursing home, Dr. K is the doctor you'll want and will genuinely appreciate. Watching other doctors at the home, and from my personal experiences, Dr. K is the best physician practicing at nursing homes. Dr. K's website is http://nursing-home-do.... He makes rounds at about a dozen Orange County health care facilities. The only downside is that Dr K's practice is limited to seeing people that are in nursing homes. If he took regular patients, he would be my primary care doctor. I am going to miss having him as my doctor. Incidentally, my leg healed and I was walking in 7 weeks rather than the 12 weeks that all the orthopedic surgeons at the hospital and the home said it would take before I would even be able to put weight on it. Not bad for a guy on Medicare!

After seeing Dr. Mikhail for nearly 15 years and talking him up to my mom the entire time, she…read morefinally relented after dealing with one mediocre internist/GP after another. Plus, their offices weren't very responsive or helpful. She had been concerned about the drive to Irvine since she doesn't live in OC, but after meeting him today about a list of issues, she walked out feeling empowered and happy to be in some expert hands. I went with her to her appointment so I was there to see how he treated her. He asked her questions, listened to her answers, and carefully examined her as if she were his own mom. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that level of care and patience. Now my mom can't stop talking about how amazing Dr. Mikhail is -- she said that all her other doctors have never been so thorough. For instance, she has had breathing issues the last few years yet no one had ever had her do a breathing test to figure out the cause. Dr. Mikhail quickly got a test ready for her, then diagnosed and treated the issue. I can't thank Dr. Mikahil enough for all these years of outstanding service, expertise, and kindness. He is the kind of doctor that won't run batteries of tests on you unless it's actually called for. I now live 50 miles away from his office and will still make the drive down to see him. I've recommended a number of friends and colleagues to him throughout the years and they all agree that Dr. Mikhail is hands-down the BEST internist around. We are SO LUCKY to be his patients! P.S. Dr. Mikhail's office is WONDERFUL. They are on top of everything and are smart, patient, sweet, and always helpful.

Not to mention his staff and him were too lazy to even to type out a linki shared with them that had my health records. This doctor and his staff actually told me they "can't copy and paste" the link because their portal doesn't allow it. They didnt even try to type out the link on the browser or anything because never got a notification that someone was requesting access to the link. They just looked at the link and said no come in with a hard copy we're not going to bother with the link. Rudest and most inconsiderate response and handling of a patient records. I have never had a doctor so lazy and ignore my health needs like this doctor. And his staff are extremely rude and condescending and rush you off the phone every time. This doctor didnt look at the blood work at all. Other doctors saw my blood work and recommended things based off my family history because they saw things that concerned them. And when I went back to ask him about it and to look at my labs again and order extra testing because of this condition that runs in my family, he literally dropped me as a patient and said "there's a problem with our doctor-patient relationship." This guy is joke and he doesn't even answer questions. If god forbid you have a question, he actually gets annoyed if you ask him too many questions. He is very impatient, lazy, not thorough, and gives off an atmosphere that he hates his job. The 5 star reviews in here are fake trust me.

The rashes were so itchy that it kept her up all night and made her so sleep deprived during the day. She visited both her primary care doctor and a dermatologist, but unfortunately, the medications they prescribed didn't bring any relief. That changed when she saw Dr. Young. From the moment he looked at her rashes, he seemed to know exactly what was going on. He diagnosed her quickly and confidently, and the treatment he prescribed worked almost immediately. The rashes improved significantly after the first night. My mom finally experienced relief after weeks of discomfort and frustration. Dr. Young's expertise, attentiveness, and quick action made a world of difference.
