    Two years ago my crown fell out after 20 yrs. Called my insurance carrier for Dentist in my area…read more After several calls to these on their network, no one would take my insurance. I received a verbal agreement from my insurance carrier to go outside network and they would pay for costs. Found Southern Oaks on Calder. Talked and went in an got verbal assurances that the costs would be covered by my insurance and all I would pay would be an initial cost of $39.00, I agreed, set up an appointment, paired my $39 dollars on Credit card. Can in got prep work done and a Temporary crown, about 7 days later got call came in and had Crown installed and left. That was August 2022!! Today August 29th 2024 I received a RED letter invoice stating that I owed $ 483.60 and had 30 days to pay it, or it would got to collection agency. It was Friday around 3:45 pm, tried to call them and no one answered, left a message. Called United Healthcare told them what happened, the woman called their accounting office, the 3 of us talked and that's when I found out about the outstanding amount that was not paid and now it was too late for me to dispute or appeal why the cost was not paid. The agent said she would call me back Tuesday after Labor day, and we would both call the Dental office. Tuesday we called on a three way call and talked to Brittany. Brittany informed us that they had problems with the staff their and records were misplaced due to the staff they had at the time. And that's why I got the bill. I told her that was their fault and now nothing can be done because it's been too years and their no way for an appeal or a way to correct their mistakes. Brittany said she had to get with the staff and get back to us. The insurance agent said she would follow up with me on that Friday Sept 6th 2024 to see if they got back to me. About 10 minutes later, Brittany called back stating that for some reason they don't know why that I called their office on Sept 17th of 2022 and I was informed them of the outstanding bill. I questioned her about why would I call if I had no problems to speak of, which she had no answer, as if I caught her in a lie. Then why did I never receive a billing invoice, with that Brittany made an excuse to talk to the staff again My question to myself was waiting didn't Brittany say that there was a mess up with their records and now Brittany is saying they informed me on a fictitious call I made, and why then did they not send out a bill then?? What the day after I called allegedly called you was the day your records magically got messed up? Went to Better Business Bureau to file complaint and their was already someone else complaining about the same thing, checked their reviews on Yelp and found another person complaining about the same thing. Seems that this must be a common Accuracy with Southern Oaks Dental on Calder. As if they would rather get the entire payment from their clients then take discounted payments from insurance company.

    I will never be returning to Southern Oaks and it's unfortunate because the orthodontist the nurses…read moreand dentists we've worked with are incredible. It's the office staff that needs serious help. They gave me an entire work up of the dental work I would need, with prices included for each thing only to tell me later that they made a mistake and I actually owed significantly more than I was first told. They made a mistake, but I had to pay for it and when I cried because I found out about the mistake I was told by their staff to calm down. I tried to look past that and thought, "Well everyone makes mistakes." This was last year around June and then literally today, I had an appointment that I booked two weeks ago and I made it very clear I would need to know a cost of the appointment BEFORE I went and I called several times to reiterate that, and every time I was told I would be called the Friday before with that information. The only call I got was to tell me some info was wrong, I corrected it and was told they would call me before the end of the day and did they? You guessed it, they did not. It's ridiculous that I could predict that they would fall down on the job and continue to have insensitivity towards patients. Needless to say my whole family is now looking for another practice.
