Unfortunately I went here for over a decade during teens- 20's, now in my mid 30's and the root canals preformed by Dr. Scheiner are ALL failing, which could lead to life threatening infections. My current Endo informed me this is due to improper dentistry. My older root canals not done here are doing just fine. These mistakes of not properly filling the root leaving an empty space are now causing tens of thousands and loss of teeth. I'd sue if I could! read more

Great place for a root canal! I had my first one a few weeks ago! They were able To get me in within 2 days of my tooth crisis, which was a godsend! My appointment was quick, and painless and I was in and out in an hour and a half. My daughter was seen here several years ago on 2 different occasions for the same thing and even during those visits we had zero issues. Dr Scheiner suggested for her to become a dentist when she was older, and here we are years later and she's getting ready for nursing school!! Great office, and great staff!! Excellent service by Dr. Scheiner and staff! From the minute I made my appointment until the end of my root canal procedure, Dr. Scheiner's office has been incredibly helpful and informative. The office is very clean and they are taking excellent precautions during the covid pandemic. Elaine at the front desk was accommodating and scheduled me within a couple weeks after getting a referral from my regular dentist. She calmly answered all and any questions that I had about the procedure, my dental insurance, and the cost. They even set aside time to do my root canal the same day! Shannon, the dental assistant was great, she was very gentle when taking dental xrays and was on top of it when it came to helping the doctor with the procedure, it was almost like a well choreographed dance at how well they worked together and how in-sync they were. Dr. Scheiner himself was incredible, really nice person that talked me through it every step of the way. He has a very calming nature about him and that really helps when having any dental work done. He wasn't "heavy handed" like other dentists I have had in the past and he did a fantastic job making sure I was comfortable and that the local anesthetic was effective. He was quick and efficient, even got me laughing a few times during the procedure. I guess it is both good and sad news that this will be the only visit I will have at this office (knock on wood) but as someone that otherwise had good teeth for almost 30 years (my whole lifetime) the staff really helped ease and concerns or stress I may have. Scheiner may be a good endodontist, if you can stand being treated like garbage by his receptionist. She is the most stuck up, condescending woman I ever encountered in any medical services. It's really too bad that a good dentist employs such a horrible woman who tarnishes his reputation. I meant to make an appointment but then changed my mind. Treated in Nov 20. Dr Scheiner was amazing, professional yet personable. I hate dentist period end of story yet he made me feel comfortable and seemed like a guy you'd want to hang out with. He was quite quick, better word efficient, chance to small talk while numbing up then all business. Which translated to me to getting it over with with. It being root canal. His dental assistant, Shannon (forgive me and correct me if I got this wrong) WOW!! I had to ask when done just how long they had worked together. They were a "well oiled" machine, thus the efficiency mentioned above. She literally anticipated his next ask, it was something. Biggest surprise? They were just recently a team... WOW. Also at the front desk, more pleasantness and professionalism from Elaine! Their procedures around Covid were great I never felt uncomfortable. This is a first class business in every respect. The office staff is buttoned up friendly and responsive. And the office itself is very warm and welcoming. The root canal procedure was highly organized and Dr. Scheiner gave me a huge degree of confidence while keeping me informed of the progress and time remaining. I'm retired, after spending my working life as a dental practice manager, x-ray tech, and surgical assistant. As you might imagine, I'm picky about my dentist. I knew I needed a root canal, my first, before I was referred to Dr. Scheiner by his wife, a dentist with a practice style I can relate to. She listened to me and I felt confident in her recommendation on how to proceed with my immediate treatment plan. Very grateful to have found her here in Forestville, but I digress. Back to my root canal. Dr. Scheiner did a great job. By that I mean a painless job, in about an hour, and told me my tooth would continue to "talk to me" for about a week, which it did. But, after a few ibuprofens and a few days, I have NO pain AND my tooth! How great is that? Dr Scheiner's office is immaculate (I mean CLEAN!), the staff friendly and competent, and there's free parking. Who could ask for anything more? read more

I'm very satisfied with the root canal work performed by Dr. Scheiner in the summer 2017. He did very thorough work cleaning and filling the canal. He took intermittent x-rays during his work, which gave me peace of mind that the work was completed correctly without the need for future re-doing. The pain I suffered after the work for a few days went away with ibuprofen, and I'm glad that Dr. Scheiner did not recommend the pain killers or antibiotics, so often prescribed by other dentists. He described what I should expect and verified that I didn't need work on another root canal at the time. I feel compelled to write a long review of this entire office, even though I rarely write reviews at all!! Ten days ago I learned during a routine cleaning that I needed two, and possibly three, root canals. It's mid-December, the end of the calendar year, after which I lose my meager insurance benefit for 2019 of $1,000, and a new year will begin. I was madly looking for an endodontist who could take me on such short notice AND who would accept and work with me on my insurance, which isn't popular among dentists. After many unsuccessful tries (either because they didn't take my insurance or they had no openings), Dr. Scheiner's office was my last call (and I was looking at places with an hour or more drive). Vanessa and Mary are on the front desk, and they were immediately delightful and can-do about finding me an opening and making sure that my insurance would work. They took time with me. I'm 66, and I said that I was being picky because even a small error on my part could cost me hundreds of dollars. No problem. I almost cried. Today, I had my in-office assessment and root canal. The office is lovely and each staff member took time to say hello and, even, shake my hand. Mary explained that they always reserve a few appointments at the end of the year just for people like me whose insurance will switch over on January 1st--how kind and thoughtful is that?! Sherri is the hygienist, and she began my appointment by taking a couple of X-rays and explaining just what to expect from the doctor. Dr. Scheiner, too, was lovely as he went over my chart. My referring dentist thought that I would need two and possibly three root canals, even though I'm not experiencing pain. Dr. Scheiner showed me why he believed that I only needed one root canal, as well as showing me on the films why the one root canal was really needed. What a pleasant surprise to find someone who isn't trying to get every last dime! Now, here's the best part: during the procedure, they tend to the smallest details to make the entire experience as positive as possible. First of all Dr. Scheiner said that he was good at placing the anesthetic and he was! I felt nothing throughout the procedure. Second, they put a child-size guard between my teeth on the opposite side of my mouth so that I could relax my jaw muscles and not have to hold my mouth open. I don't know why EVERY dentist doesn't do this--how unusual to be able to relax in the dentist's chair. Third, they do put a metal strip around the tooth to isolate it for the procedure; however, they then attached to it a pliable rubber film (like rubber gloves) that went under my nose, across my open mouth under where they were working, and down my chin. This guard kept every bit of water, drill filings, and junk from inside the drilled tooth from getting into my open mouth and throat. Sherri was rinsing and vacuuming as is usual, but it was all atop the guard, so that when they were finished, she removed the guard and there wasn't any dust or residue in my mouth at all. What is truly remarkable is that I almost fell asleep as they were working, because the whole experience was ENTIRELY stress free. I had NO relationship with this office or the staff before my pressing call 10 days ago. Their kindnesses and attention to every detail of the patient's comfort is something that I have not experienced in recent memory. I am crowing about it to anyone who will listen!! read more

I went to Dr. Scheiner as a new patient, with an urgent root canal needed and had been in a lot of pain for days. His attentive office staff were able to get me in to be seen in a timely manner, and although it was pretty last minute, they also had my insurance quote and everything ready so there would be no surprises. I have in the past, been referred to endodontists and it did not go well. It is already something painful, but Dr. Scheiner gave me a whole new outlook. He gave thee best injections I didn't feel a thing, normally you always feel something. He was kind, and explained everything, and stopped when I said it was making me anxious. His assistant and he worked very well together and made sure I was comfortable. He was compassionate and gentle. After the procedure I was able to go home and rest and am finally out of pain. As far as the other review I read here, I think it may be a very one sided situation. And Yelp hid the positive reviews by other patients. So please, check out Dr. Scheiner, DDS. The professional welcoming staff in the front office to Dr. Scheiner's calm and helpful presence makes this one of the best dental offices in Sonoma County. Mary is so helpful kind and loving and works as an advocate for each patient. She listens and understands the next step in dental health and offers sage advice. Dr. Scheiner is warm and welcoming, looks you in the eye before beginning the dental work. He has done at least 2 root canals for me and 1 consultation for a tooth that did not need work. Every time he has been professional, kind and informative. The office is clean, quiet and easy to access. I have been to other root canal dentists and by far Dr. Scheiner is the best. By the way I really don't like going to the dentist so having Dr. Scheiner on my side is a great blessing. read more

Dr. Scheiner billed over $1000 for a root canal/crown in 8/11, the tooth caused discomfort and pain for quite awhile so I was advised to see Dr. Scheiner again regarding the troublesome root canal/crown. He looked at the x-ray and within seconds said, " the base of the tooth is fractured and the tooth will have to come out." then he reminded me that he does not do extractions (how convenient). When I inquired about the normal ordinary expectation for this root canal/crown to last much longer than 1.5 yrs and that a partial refund seemed appropriate to help pay for the extraction, explaining that maybe he either he chose to do the procedure on a tooth that was not a good candidate, or there was some problem with the way the procedure was done,and only a small chance of natural causes. I mentioned my research suggested that 85/90% of root canals are successful and that I would like at least my deductible and coinsurance ($145) to be refunded to help me pay for the extraction (pulling the gold crowned root canalled tooth that died in less than two years)!!! He became enraged and came around the counter as if he was going to physically confront me, screaming, "do you think I have a crystal ball!" I explained calmly that it just didn't seem fair for him to brush me off with no compassion or concern whatsoever, I was asking for just a fraction of what he made on the failed procedure. He raised his voice and became very hostile. His receptionist, who is about as pleasant as a case of hemorrhoids had called the Windsor police, completely ridiculous considering Dr. Scheiner was the only one raising his voice and being physically threatening. The police noticed how he had come around the counter and got right "into my face". It was best to leave at that point (obviously), although the deputies were very pleasant and professional but they have much more important things to do which is why it was so completely ridiculous. Bottom line I'm screwed $$$$$, my root canal/crown lasted less than two years....my adjoining teeth are in fine health and having to have this tooth pulled after the expensive procedure he performed less than two years prior is so disheartening. He was too angry and irrational to make any accommodation for me whatsoever. His attitude was clearly, "tough shit", cold as ice. Go somewhere else please. I have gotten along fine with every healthcare professional I've ever dealt with and I've never had any of them act so confrontational, rude, and unwilling to do the right thing for a customer. BEWARE: I have no faith whatsoever if a patient has a problem resulting from work this dentist has done that they will be treated reasonably, or professionally, this is based on my terrible experience in this office. Remember I had a root canal and crown that cost more than $1000, in less than two years this dentist casually tells me I need to have the tooth removed, he took no responsibility for the failed procedure. He became enraged when I suggested I should be compensated reasonably since the procedure failed. I know an elderly woman that explained to me she had been treated poorly in this office, but I didn't pay much attention to her complaints, maybe being dismissive because of her advanced age. I am sorry now that I didn't listen to her narrative and now believe it to be true. If there is anyone else out there that had expensive procedures completed at this office that did not go well, left you in pain, or as in my experience a complete loss (tooth extraction needed now to be paid out of my pocket!!)- please take the time to share your experience. I had the foresight to record some of the Dr's ranting on my cell phone, as I was thinking he would assault me based on his body language and actions. Just another example of the regular Joe getting the short end of the stick. My wife tells me to just forget it but I was so shocked at his behavior I'm thinking small claims court (I'm familiar with the process)....I don't really know, just still schocked that the Dr. would act in such a way, the expensive procedure failed, I have to pay for it, and he couldn't care less. read more

My regular Dentist sent me to Dr. Scheiner to have a root canal done under my new bridge and I was promised that Id only need one root canal. After the procedure I was told that took care of it and I wouldn't need another. It was unfortunate that I had to go back for another 2nd root canal. Dr. Scheiner lied and told me, "Well, we knew you needed to have more work done". I am still experiencing pain and may still need another root canal. What I believe now after consulting with another dentist and an attorney, is that the first dentist over prepped the three teeth under the bridge causing the teeth to become very sensitive and painful. The first dentist also over prepped another tooth above a crown which is now sensitive upon brushing since that work was done. Both dentists should have caught this in the beginning before they started the root canal process. They should have told me there was a mistake in over prepping my teeth before the bridge went on or that I was not a candidate for a bridge because my two teeth would not withstand the prepping and, or I could have been told I'd need root canals first before the bridge was put on, and possibly avoid being charged several thousands for root canals. I saw him for a consultation and it was over three hundred dollars for 5 minutes and for him to say he couldn't do anything. I was referred to Dr. Scheiner for a tooth that needed a root canal that Western Dental did not want to touch. I was nervous as this was my first root canal, but Dr. Scheiner not only has wonderful bedside manner but I could not feel a thing and left feeling so much better. Everyone hears the words "Root Canal" and thinks the worst! This office has, for me, taken all the terror out of these procedures. I've had a total of 3 root canals here and I have nothing but good things to say about this office, the staff and my experience. On 12/19/13 I had a root canal done by Dr. Scheiner and i have to say that it was great! I saw Dr Scheiner a year ago for a pain in a tooth. Me being stubborn I went against his wishes to do a root canal at the time and just never went back. Well, I was wrong! On 12/18 My dentist sent me straight to Dr Scheiner's office because (shocking) that tooth was now infected. Dr Scheiner was so amazing that he moved his schedule around to squeeze me in so my 2013 benefits wouldn't go to waste. I felt so bad because I could see what a crazy work day I just made for him and his staff. My root canal went flawlessly. I've had paper-cuts hurt worse! The procedure flew by and before I knew it I was back to normal. A root canal can make anyone nervous, but for me, being with Dr. Scheiner and his staff calmed those nerves immediately. His assistant (I'm sorry, I forgot her name) is so nice I just wanted to hug her! I felt so welcome and taken care. Hands down, 5+ stars! Dr. Scheiner is the best! read more
