I contacted Brian Henselman again to tune Things Two's baby grand piano as it was recently moved as…read moreI purchased a new home. Its important to tune a piano after a move and on other occasions such as: 1- When a piano is not played, the strings will gradually stretch with the passage of time and the piano will fall out of tune. Pianos need regular tuning at least once a year to keep them up to pitch and playing the correct notes. 2- When fluctuations in temperature and humidity occur which cause the wooden parts of the piano to expand and contract, affecting string tension. 3- When a piano is not tuned regularly. Pianos get set in their ways as they age. A piano that hasn't been tuned in a long time will go out of tune again very quickly. Pianos are temperamental and should be tuned at least once per year. I like to think of a piano like a car in that, cars require regular tune ups, oil changes etc. Brian showed up on time, was efficient and gave some great tips on piano care. If you are seeking an honest and reliable piano tuner, Brian is the best bet! Total for tuning: 205.68 #supportlocal

They're only doing rentals there right now, but it will be a full service violin shop in short order. I can't overemphasize how great the space is. It really captures an old world vibe in a quaint but well used space. I'm also excited to have such a competent shop in this part of Austin. It's very helpful for my professional musician friends that live in the area. I'm also happy that the shop is committed to innovating in ways that are directly beneficial to their customers, like creating an online store so people don't always need to come in for accessories. As someone who runs a violin shop myself, I'm happy to recommend Blackerby Violin Shop.

I…read morehad no idea what this guitar would sound or play like, so I gave Andrew a call (he answered and I got a quote and appointment set up within 5 minutes) I got there and asked him if I needed a setup, and instead of being un-transparent like other repair places, he tested the intonation and sound right in front of me so that I could hear if it was sounding right. He seemed pretty busy this week and told me it would be about a week's wait for my work to be done. Well, Andrew called me in HALF the time he said it would take to finish the job. He let me play it in his home to make sure everything worked okay. Well, holy cow, this guitar sounds and plays better than the Gibson Les Paul classic I hawked a year ago! His prices are really great too. Definitely going back to Andrew in the future. Thanks!

I went back to the room that had the acoustic guitars in. I looked around and kinda fiddled with a couple of them. Again, not knowing anything about guitars or what I was looking for. I came out of the room and an employee asked me if I needed help with anything. I explained to him that I wanted to possibly buy a guitar and that I didn't know anything about them and I've never played a guitar. I told him that I was interested in a couple of them based on looks and what I've been told. He hooked me up with his guitar salesman (Fernando). I explained to him my situation. We went into the acoustic guitar studio/room and I pointed out the guitars that I kinda liked. He took them down and played each one of them to see how they compared. While he was playing, he was explaining different things to me. He took his time with me and was very patient and understanding. He knows everyone is a beginner at some point and time. After about 2 1/2 - 3 hours of testing out various brands of acoustic guitars I was able to make a decision on the guitar that was best suited for me. Then he helped me pick out a guitar case, strap, tuner, stand, etc... I never felt rushed, dumb or an inconvenience to Fernando, he spent as much time as I needed from him. I also met the store manager (Daniel) who was very nice as well. I'll be going back to take guitar lessons from one of their instructors in the near future. All in all, I had a great experience dealing with everyone and buying my first guitar from Guitar Center. I highly recommend them for any and all of your musical needs. Great employees and customer service!
