All of the women at the shop were very helpful. I went with some low end frames to get the job done and save a pretty penny. They also have custom framing but that's not the kind of investment I want to make in playroom art just yet. They have a beautiful assortment of home decor and it changes ultra frequently. Right now they have a lot of mahjong decor which I didn't know was trending right now but it's certainly giving off Southern Living vibes. The attendant for the self checkout area was helpful and came over to help me cancel out a duplicate swipe before I even needed to flag her down. I was impressed with the customer service being so friendly and helpful. I was also able to use my Michael's store cash before it expired and I was able to stack my coupons and saved a boat load of money.

She's very knowledgeable about quilting and sewing in general. The staff there is great as well. They will spend as long as it takes to find the one perfect fabric you are missing from your project. I mean AS LONG as you need them to. The other day I had found 7 of 8 fabrics I needed for a project and just couldn't come up with that perfect last one. After 20 minutes or more we found it! I say we, like I had some hand in it. It was really the 2 other ladies that were scouring the store to please me. They ROCK! :) The store is well lit with room to move around. The fabrics are grouped by type (batik, flannel, cotton, Asian,) and then by color. They have a nice selection of rulers, cutters, threads, quilting patterns, fat quarters, do-dads, and general sewing-type notions. There are sample quilts & projects hanging EVERYWHERE to inspire you. Gift cards are available! In the back of the store there are large tables for classes. Samples of all the class projects are hanging to you can get an up-close look at what you're going to make. Stop by Sylvia's, you'll love it. Even if you're only going in to pet the fabric. :)

When we walked into the store, we were kindly greeted by Jo who taught us so much about qiviut and how the yarn were hand dyed in small batches in Anchorage, colors inspired by the beauty of Alaska. She opened the case with the qiviut and allowed me to handle a sample on my hands. The qiviut was very lightweight, and surprisingly very warm! Walking around the store, I had never seen the yarn color variations that Wooly Mammoth had. Also, I loved how catchy the name was! I eventually settled on the Northern Bee studio 80% superwash merino 20% nylon poison water yarn and purchased a 5mm crochet hook. I really appreciated Jo's kindness and expertise in crocheting and knitting. Definitely a must stop if you're in downtown!

I sure hope my son's girlfriend loves them! :D The nice lady working in there was very kind, available if needed and just allowed me to browse at my own pace. It's quite nice that they offer to roll the hank of yarn into a ball for you as well, which only takes a minute or two each. Just as the pandemic was hitting in the spring, they were getting ready to have classes for spinning yarn and unfortunately that has been postponed until all this ridiculousness is over. I'll probably go to a class or two, since I do have a wheel of my own. I merely dock a star for the price... by all means I will keep shopping there when I'm in need of fabulous yarn, but it's not for the random piece or practice project for sure.
