Ordered two bagel sandwiches for delivery here. Loxed and Loaded - this is the lox sandwich with all the fixings (scallion cream cheese, tomatoes, capers). I found the capers + lox were a little too salty overall, but then the tomato did balance it out a bit. Once the tomato slipped out of my bite, the bite would be a bit too salty though. Egg + Smoked Pork Sausage - I never got to try this one because they messed up my order and I got a bacon and egg sandwich instead. The bacon was very crispy, which is actually not my favorite type of bacon. And I also didn't get any salsa verde with my order (because I received someone else's sandwich). And once again, the sandwich was too salty. Not sure if there was a random heavy hand, and I'm not 100% sure what it was. It wasn't the cream cheese, so it had to have been the bacon or the egg. They did provide a refund on the mistake, so I'll have to try the Sausage some other time. read more

THE BIG: Bagel food truck located in East Austin off of Webberville road. Also a pop up on Sundays at the Mueller's Farmers Market. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: When im in a bagel fix, I always opt for David Doughie's. Bagels here are just made different (and tastier). They have bagel sandwiches but usually I just grab a couple of their donuts and be on my merry way. Typically I get 3 or 6 bagels. You can pay per bagel if you only feel like having one. At the Mueller Farmers Market pop up, they only have the bagels and spread for sale. The everything and sesame bagels are bomb. However the za'atar is meh. The seasoning doesn't stick to the bagel. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For a 6-pack bagels, it is around $17. Hot take but these are the best bagels in Austin (as of this review being written). My go-to for quality bagels. read more

These bagels have a perfect crunch, a wonderful structure, and a delightful crew. BF gets his usual plain bagel with egg and plain bagel with honey butter here ($14 for both). They are served warm and perfect. On point branding with the cutest bagel stickers. It's a food truck with the nicest man running the truck. There are labels outside you can eat on and a coffee truck next to it too. They are only open on the later half of the week. I wish they were open everyday! read more

Loved the bagels here! Service was quick and very nice. The bagel was cooked to perfection-- crunchy yet soft, bacon was cooked well, the honey butter was sooo good. 5/5!! Amazing bagels and breakfast sandwiches. In from out of town and wanted a good bagel. My husband ordered the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The owner Devin took our order and said they go heavy on the schmear. They weren't kidding. There were whole, fresh scallions in the cream cheese, delicious. I ordered the hot mess sandwich but on a plain bagel-yummy! The crunch of the chopped bacon and sweet pickled onions is something I will crave. This is a food truck and there is some covered outdoor seating shared with the coffee shop next door. We came before the rush early on a Sunday morning. The owner was very kind and checked on all the customers. I would definitely recommend this shop to others. read more

Very fast service. They will get your bagels out within minutes. The bagels are huge! Really nice way to start your day. The coffee shop Nextdoor is separate so it might be recommended to order online and get in the coffee line right away. read more

I love a good bagel just like a next person and this was definitely a great experience. The bagels are nice and toasty very generous on toppings. I got prosciutto seasoned lox bagel and my party got as breakfast sandwich bagel. Definitely try the green salsa they have, it went well with both! They were busy, but the line was moving fast, and the order was ready in under 10 min. I will be adding them to my breakfast rotation for sure. read more

I love yelp because it really knows how to guide me to a good authentic place when in search! I hit Google search for a bagel spot in Austin and it gave me like 15 locations. Some had reviews some meh I didn't trust it. I wanted BAGELS NOTHING MORE! So I swapped to yelp because it never disappoints me! First spot on bagels was David Doughies! When I got the the owner Devon greeted me , didn't rush me and explained the menu .. and guess what? The money was BAGELS NOTHING MORE! I found what I needed. Good ass bagels made by people not machines and with local ingredients. All three bagels we ordered were a HIT, nothing needed to be different or added! Their spreads are amazing and not artificial malt flavored. The place had enough space for sitting and very basic but who needs a fancy place to sit and enjoy a bomb bagel? 10/10 I WILL COME BACK! I hate carrots. Like absolutely despise them. Why is this important to know? Because I believe that the mark of a good chef is if they can turn something that you absolutely hate into something you absolutely love then their food must be good. And without a doubt David Doughie's is churning out delicious bagels and food. I was craving a bagel but I can be picky about bagels - I find bagels often too dense, or too thin, or too overtoasted that they taste stale. Though these bagels are pretty close to NYC style with crispy shiny crust that you can hear the snap when you bite into it, the interior is not nearly as dense and chewy as NY bagel is but still better than a lot of the NYC style bagels I have had in Austin. As a vegetarian, I appreciate there are vegetarian bagels sandwiches for us to eat! I got the carrot "smoked salmon" bagel sandwich on an everything bagel and instead of the vegan cashew cream cheese schmear I got the scallion cream cheese schmear. And oh man oh man let me tell you that carrot smoked salmon is absolutely to die for. Remember how I said I HATE carrots? Well this carrot smoked salmon is about the most delicious thing I have tasted - a little salty, a little briny, nice underlying smoked flavor without being overpowering and just the right amount of crunch. I couldn't taste the "carrotness" (I find carrot too bitter I know weird most people find carrots sweet) and I didn't find anything overtly sweet about the smoked salmon. My husband who eats meat even commented that the carrot was one of the best things he has ever tasted. The scallion cream cheese schmear was dressed generously and I appreciated the sandwich was served open face style with thinly sliced red onions and capers on top. Service was incredibly friendly and I appreciated the guy working the counter who gave us suggestions and allowed me to taste the carrot before buying. Even on a busy Sunday morning, we didn't have to wait long for our sandwiches. Parking is free on the street on Webberville. Do like me and grab bagel here and grab Desnudo coffee just down the road. read more

Good customer service and the food was ready quickly. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel. It could have a bit more cheese, but the bacon amount was good. They weren't skimpy on the star of the show, and I appreciate that. They are known for their salmon bagel sandwich, so next time I will get that. I have a feeling that I will enjoy that one more. The food truck is at a great location for outside eating. Great place to hang with the gang on a nice, sunny weekend. read more

I think the bagels are great! Not quite NYC of course, but they def nail the chewy interior well. They're a little different, but that's intentional as he uses local grains and such! That's why the color is more of a brownish hue rather than the tannish gold color in New York with areas a bit darker from cooking. Hard to explain but check out the photo and you'll know what i mean. Also the seasonings on the bagel are more relegated to the top as opposed to NYC where they're all over. Now, obviously bagels are a premium product in ATX so they're def super expensive. $5 pulp fiction milkshake scene popped into my head while i was enjoying my bagel/scallion cream cheese - pretty ducking good bagel...not sure if it's worth 6 and one half dollars. I thought the ordering process was easy online and the dude (guessing it's David) is super nice and friendly. Overall, I felt really cool going to East Austin and it's also by a coffee shop and other food truck area, so it's a good time. I will definitely return and would bring friends / family etc here. Now, I am more on the southwest side and love Wholly Bagel over there..so in general..kinda pumped that we are getting some good bagels in Austin! read more

One of the better bagels you'll find in Austin that is also conveniently located next door to the popular and bumpin' Weberville food park. Whether you're a Fleet or Desnudo fan, grabbing a coffee and a lox bagel sammie is a combo that cannot be beat. Super chill and low key for grabbing to go, or to people watch. Quick, convenient, and pricing on par with that of Nervous Charlie's, but certainly worth it. Note that this is all outdoor seating, for which there is a solid amount, but be prepared to bring out the inner extrovert to possibly ask to share a table with some other hungry folks. read more

David Doughie's was one of the first places I tried to get my NYC bagel fix up at the Lakeline Mall. When they opened their trailer down south I was pretty certain that I'd not make the trek down for it again. When I came down for a coffee meet up at Fleet I saw that the DD trailer was down here and decided to try their Everything bagel and scallion schmear. The trailer here is definitely an improvement-things came out quicker than at the Farmer's Market. The owner took my order and was friendly and answered my questions about if they were still at the Market on weekends. When I mentioned how things were quicker, he credited his staff and how great they were. The bagel is as close to NY style bagels as you're going to get in Austin and they're pretty good. Probably the best bagels you're going to get in town. read more

Amazing bagels and great vibes at David Doughie's! The bagels are truly unique - slightly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, with the perfect amount of bite and chew. The bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel was loaded, and the sesame bagel with lox (plus avocado mash on half) was fresh and delicious. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and serve generous portions. The owner was friendly and welcoming, and the cool music gives the shop a unique Austin feel. After a few poor bagels while in Austin I was starting to think Austin couldn't deliver a good bagel. Well David doughies changed that !! The bagel was absolutely delicious, actually warm from being toasted long enough, and the perfect amount of schmear. Perfect way to end my morning run. Also the chef/owner was very friendly, respectful, and open to answer any questions and explain their process/products. A little piece of New York in Austin. This bagel was as close as I have found to a true NYC bagel outside of NYC. Something about that tang they just nailed. The perfect crust, fluffy chewy inside and that unmistakable yeasty flavor. The pumpernickel flavor was icing on the cake not overpowering but herby goodness. Note this is their half cream cheese option. Will absolutely be back. They do sell out so plan accordingly. We got there about 11. I got the last pumpernickel. Even with the rain there was a short line. When we left at 1 they were announcing they only had one bagel left. read more

I've decided to come out of Yelp retirement to say one thing: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Because once you go, you'll never stop going. I first saw them at the Hancock Center Farmer's Market. I resisted. I saw the line again and resisted harder. Then a friend forced me to try their bagel. This friend orders burgers with only meat, cheese, and ketchup, so I wasn't expecting much. It was a plain bagel with plain cream cheese. And it was still incredible. The first time I went for myself, I got talked into adding cucumber and jalapeño to my lox everything bagel. Sitting at one of the tables next to the trailer, I felt a single tear form in the corner of my eye. It was beautiful. The next day I came back, because lox isn't even my favorite breakfast. That title belongs to the breakfast sandwich, and I'm picky. Years ago, I was a Sunday regular at a bodega. The guy knew my BECLTOAMH on a roll by heart. I even got him a Christmas gift because I knew I was a pain. So when I ordered the breakfast sandwich here, to go, I was nervous. But when I showed up, something unexpected happened. The guy remembered my name. He said, "Welcome back," smiled, and asked if I'd ever tried jam on the breakfast sandwich. Then he tossed a small container of it into the brown paper bag. Back home, I took a bite. It was amazing. The jam made it amazing-er. Now I have a problem. I eat here at least once a week. When I don't, I dream about it. This isn't breakfast anymore -- it's a situationship. He still smiles and says my name every time I pick up my order. There's only one problem with this fine establishment. We're too deep in our relationship for me to ask him what his name is. Awkward. read more

Finally a new and worthy contender in the Austin bagel sandwich game. We got the two egg and cheeses on everything bagels: 1) add bacon sub scallion cream cheese for the cheddar 2) add bacon and a side of green sauce (skhug) The owner was working the cashier and he was fantastic with customer service. Such an above average bagel, thank you! Prior to David Doughie's there were maybe 1-2 solid options in ATX, but nothing like David Doughie's. The bagel is soft but has a crisp to it. It's fluffy but doesn't have a bunch of air in it. They do a great job, thank you! read more

David Doughie’s isn’t your typical carb dealer… it’s a full-blown schmear-ience! Born from a love of real-deal NYC bagels (and the belief Austin deserved better), we hand-roll, cold-proof for three days, then boil and bake to chewy, golden perfection. No shortcuts. Ever. We use organic heirloom grains from Barton Springs Mill, local pasture-raised eggs, and stack up bold, messy sandwiches; from the classic O.G. bagel and lox to wild signature sandwiches like the Zhuggy Stardust and our Jalapeno Popper. Everything’s built to slap your taste buds. A little trippy, a little edgy, very Austin. We don’t take ourselves too seriously… but we take bagels very seriously. Meet the Business Owner: Devin B.

Hi, I'm NOT David. I'm Devin, the chef and owner of David Doughie's. (my 5-year old Bowie loving daughter at the time came up with the name David Doughie... David Bowie... get it?) I started off cooking in fine dining and Michelin restaurants where I grew up in Washington, D.C. Restaurants 1789 and Kinship/Metier. I moved to Austin in 2019 with my wife and kids, where I worked at Odd Duck until the pandemic hit, which gave me the opportunity to channel my roots and perfect the bagels y'all enjoy today. I don't take myself too seriously, but I take bagels VERY seriously. Come swing by our trailer and see me in our window.

They have been operating out of the farmers markets stall at Lakeline and Mueller on weekends, and it's no question they are popular for their New York style bagels, from their constant long lines. Their bagels are made fresh with a thin crackly crust, lightly chewy interior, and perfect crumb. I like to order mine with their housemade cream cheese (scallion is my preference) and fresh smoked salmon. They also plan to expand their menu now that they have a trailer. It was also great to be able to order through QR code and not have to wait in the lines you would normally expect from them in their farmers markets stall. The space at Lustre Pearl is also fantastic with plenty of seating. They have a parking lot as well.

She then came back and said "it has pecans! Is that bad?" And I said "yes. Kinda bad" Luckily because I only had one bite and then proceeded to chew on a few Benadryl I ended up being okay and my throat and lungs were all back to normal in an hour or so, even if I had to spend my day in bed high on said Benadryl. If I had eaten any more of the sandwich though, I very easily could have ended up in the ER. All that to say - the menu does not make any mention of pecans being in the chicken salad, either in-store or online. Which is strange because tree nuts are disclosed in some of the other menu items. This feels like a bit of an oversight, no? Fellow nut allergy-havers: do you avoid chicken salad altogether? Am I ignorant for not knowing the risk of ordering chicken salad? I don't know but this did ruin a whole day for me and very easily could've cost me $2000 and a trip to the ER if I really enjoyed the taste of the sandwich. (Luckily I did not.) Sorry to leave a shady diva review for a time-honored Austin institution - the worker we spoke to seemed very apologetic and reasonably frightened.
