Previous years, David provided excellent services. In 2023, after signing a contract for the next year, David emails me to tell me that he sold the business in April. This should have been disclosed to me prior to solicitation of my business. I requested a return of my payment for services, to be told "no refunds"! I find this bait and switch disgusting and no way to conduct ethical business. read more

David Beck was supremely lazy and unhelpful when I paid him good money to help me file my very simple income tax return. I'm surprised he didn't try to charge me extra fees for pushing a button which seems to be all the work he did when filing my return. I had to contact him multiple times for him to actually send me the instructions that I needed and then I had to ask how to navigate his awful website (which was also missing critical information/documents that I needed to file my return sucsessfully). Nobody I talked to seemed happy to help me. He had some lady answering the phone for him and she seemed very put off when I asked for help because they changed websites without telling me so I was trying to login to an old website with no idea that I wasn't even on the correct site. I think a box of rocks would be more helpful than David ever was. read more

Despite previous years of providing excellent, responsive service, the 2023 tax return season (filed April 2024) was a complete disaster. Despite providing all the necessary information in February - March, including several follow-up email requests, I received nothing back until I received draft forms the evening of Friday April 12. I provided minor corrections later that night, but did not receive final filings for approval (or any other response) until April 22, and the form was not filed until April 23. Because of the firm's slow response and late filing, I was forced to pay substantial penalties and additional interest, for which the firm refused to reimburse me. They even suggested that I should pay them more money to request an abatement of penalties from the IRS. read more

David helped me last year and was generally responsive and helpful. It all came off the rails when he accepted a down payment to complete my 2021 taxes, but when tax season came around he ignored my first three emails requesting to start my taxes. He didn't respond until AFTER the tax deadline. At which point he said "Not interested in business together. Sorry bud." Soooo unprofessional. He is now ignoring my requests to get my deposit back. Dude is literally STEALING money from people. DO NOT WORK WITH DAVID. He doesn't care about you. read more

Go elsewhere! Took deposit, did nothing, now threatening to take me to small claims court to keep the $250 deposit instead of refunding. Unprofessional and untrustworthy. In poor practice, we were sent an email in 2021 to request we pay a deposit for personal tax services for the following 2022 tax year. Then, we needed to cancel our service and request refund. We were refused a refund and directed to fine print that deposits are non- refundable. If this is the way David is making his money, stealing people's money when zero services are rendered than it is a testament to his poor character and ethics. My experience working with David Beck started off well, but quickly went downhill. For anyone considering working with him, here's a summary of why I'd advise against it: 1. His communication skills were seriously lacking - after a couple of months, if I sent him an email, I had to follow up (and on occasion more than once) before he would reply. And half the time, the reply wasn't answering my question or providing sufficient information. 2. We agreed to a set hourly fee for him to consult with me on some specific help I needed, as it was out of the normal scope of tax preparation. What could have been accomplished in under 30 mins (and easily was with the accountant I hired to replace him), took over a month of back and forth frustrating emails, with him never actually helping me with what he said he would. Because the task needed to be accomplished by a certain time, I had to frantically find another accountant to help me when David just stopped communicating. 3. When I sent the returns David had filed for me to the accountant I hired to replace him, I was told "Unfortunately, I discovered that David Beck CPA made a huge error in the preparation of your personal tax returns. He forgot to report the Schedule K-1 income." So not only do I now owe the government money, but I had to pay $400 extra to have another accountant file amended returns because of David's careless error. read more

Stay away! David is really unprofessional and does not pay close attention to the documents you are sharing with him. Specifically, he screwed up my taxes prep last year as he failed to take into account 1) The fact that I had health insurance as a Boston resident (you are required to pay a penalty if you are not insured), and 2) The fact that I specifically asked him to link my taxes account to my bank account so that IRS can withdraw money automatically. As a result, 1) My refund was ~$500 less than it was supposed to. When i realized he failed to incorporate the insurance, i pointed out to him and he admitted his (huge) mistake; 2) I delayed paid my taxes for several months (as I thought he had done his job including direct deposit there), and I had to pay a penalty to IRS for the delay. If you want to minimize your tax return and get penalties from IRS then I would highly recommend David! read more

I had an incredible experience using David for the first time this year. He's everything one could ask for in a CPA: i) incredibly easy to work with ii) very fairly priced and iii) very knowledgeable about nuanced trust related matters that make most CPA's heads spin. I can not emphasize the last two points enough. The incremental value and savings that he was able to add in my case was significant, decreasing my tax bill by over 40% in the first year, and providing advice that will yield exponential savings in future years. He can concisely break down complex tax structures and scenarios, including answering questions about nuanced theoretical tax scenarios. His clients can have confidence that David will always help get the most economically efficient result possible - be it for the most complex or most simple of tax situations - and at a very reasonable price. I absolutely will be using David for the foreseeable future, and can not stress how valuable & rare his detailed understanding of trust related tax processes really is. I had a phone consultation with Mr. Beck and he was helpful. I explained my situation. Never said "we" although married/single didn't come up. I only say all this because if what then happened. He quoted me a fee around $300ish which seemed a fair fee for my simple taxes. So I get home and check email and there was the proposal from his firm. I open it and it was for married filing jointly. Okay, I email back that I am single and a proposal for "individual" was sent along. I open That one and it has fees on two lines for something like $247 each/twice. This is a Lot more than I remembered so I emailed again and asked for clarification. I quickly got a new proposal (3rd one) with corrected filing status & fee. He also promptly emailed an explanation ie: "it defaulted to incorrect married/joint return fee". So I send an email to thank him for prompt response and let him know that with Two incorrect proposals I was hesitant to proceed but since I got a quick explanation and I understand default errors happen I would go ahead and do business with him. Then I get and email that he decided to withdrawal his Thrice corrected! proposal. "I'm actually going to go ahead and revoke the proposal. We are extremely busy at the moment and we typically end up having issues with people who are already reviewing minutia in an engagement letter. If you accepted the first letter, there would be no issue in the first place."  So this firm is annoyed by someone "reviewing minutia". I think that's code for someone who reads documents and pays attention. He just saved me $300. Good luck to anyone doing business with these folks! Apparently, attention to detail ain't their strong suit and they don't want a customer annoying them by pointing that out, even politely. read more

My experience with David Beck was terrible. I received a quote and then he told me that the quote didn't include all of the items that I had provided during the original consultation. Then, I had to check his numbers because the forms provided weren't entered right. I sent him a bunch of questions about the draft return and his responses were always delayed and incomplete. I don't recommend anybody doing your taxes online with him. The whole process is very inefficient. After he filed my return he pretty much ignored me. Not for a CPA year round. More like a tax preparer with supervision required. read more

I LOVE HIM!!! I was having such anxiety about my tax situation as I was a few years behind. He put my overactive mind at ease by answering all my 'silly' questions.
