You can tell that Jubilee/Olympic fever is in the air. The shop display of David Aitchison is decked out in shirts and menswear in the patriotic colours of red, white and blue.
Once inside its clear that this is an upmarket menswear store of high calibre, catering for well monied, middle-aged and retired successful gents who want to look good and for whom money is not an issue. Most of the shirts are around the hundred pound mark. While they do look good, they aren't to my taste or pocket and some ties catch my eye. A detailed, asymmetric paisley tie in particular. Made of silk in muted green and yellows its going to be the perfect item to accessorise a shirt for those occasions when I get to dress up and its not a funeral. At £29 it's pretty dear, but its pretty tidy too. And as I last bought at tie in 1998, I'm over due a purchase of one. Ting!
David Aitchison also offer a bespoke suit hire service, and can deck you out for any special occasion with couture from the suit itself to ties and cufflinks. read more
