I had always heard about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but never knew of any schools offering it in this area. After my first class at Baltimore BJJ, I knew my search was over. At many of the other dojos, I learned a great deal of material that I was unable to use against a non-cooperative partner in sparring. It was very exciting when I found that I was able to actually use what I was taught at Baltimore BJJ in sparring, and presumably, self-defense. Now, I will hopefully never have to use those skills in self-defense, but the impact Baltimore BJJ has had on my personal life is incredible. Knowing that each week I can go in and learn and invaluable skill while getting a great workout alongside a great group of people is awesome. It's nice to have something that I can depend on, where, as long as I put forth the effort, I will succeed. Earning my Blue Belt was a huge event, of which I am very proud. I have earned Black Belts at other schools, but earning my Blue Belt at Baltimore BJJ is probably the accomplishment I cherish the most. I plan on being a student of Baltimore BJJ for a long, long time. With each class, I can feel my knowledge and skill growing. It's great to be working on something positive. Although I'm not typically a person who takes classes on Sunday mornings, I decided to join today because I love Kamaria's classes. Halfway through class today, there was an emergency outside of the room that required Kamaria to step out. Without a beat a member, who was obviously a seasoned instructor, stepped up and guided the class to completion. The class flow was seamlessly and the instructions continued perfectly. It's hard to imagine that an emergency had just taken place. I realized how hard it may be to find instructors, but to have such passionate student/teachers who care as much about other's well being as their own is inspiring. This is truly a COMMUNITY
