But I guess you get what you pay for. Within a week of my appointment I had to return to my dentist in San Francisco to repair a broken veneer that was under warranty, at this point he informed me of three small cavities. I was shocked having just had xrays and an exam, in which Dr. Groat said everything is fine. In trying to decide if I should go back to SF to fix them, or drive to Castro Valley to see my childhood dentist since they were much closer, the dentist in Castro Valley told me that these were very minor cavitites and it was possible that Dr. Groat didn't mention them because they weren't significant yet.
But to me, it sounds like shaddy business. Wait until the cavitity grows and the fillings are more involved so you can charge more? I don't really see any other motivation to not tell a patient that there is a problem. It would have been one thing if they had told me about it and said they thought it wasn't necessary to do anything, but to tell me there was nothing wrong was misleading.
However, they do get some credit for being very friendly, accomodating, and easy to get an appointment scheduled with. read more
