Stopped in for lunch for our first visit and enjoyed it for the most part. We walked in about 5 minutes after they opened and it seemed like they were quite ready, so our food took a little bit of time but we weren't in a rush. We both went with the #2 combo which was 2 sliders and fries. It didn't include a drink which seemed odd but an easy way for them to get more money. The sliders weren't that small for having 2 in the order but we still finished it all. I wasn't super excited about a Kale Slaw being on the slider but it was actually pretty good and didn't have too much of a "kale taste". I don't do great with spicy but the medium spice level wasn't too much at all. It added flavor without being overpowering, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff were friendly and the dining area was clean. We would definitely come back. read more

Shout out to Marcus M., Brooke(sorry if I misspelled your name), and the rest of the staff! Greeted upon entry, educated on menu, fast food, fast service. When we came in the place was packed and when I say packed, I mean no chairs or tables available lol. Something I like to see in restaurants because it means that they're doing a great job. When a table did become available. Marcus separated the table for us and got the chairs set up for us, so I really appreciated that service. The customers are Vibing with each other having a great time with each other. The food was excellent. I love this place. It's just something about that chicken and the coleslaw together that just makes everything taste great. Great job guys and thank you for a great visit! read more

All the tables were dirty and I had to clean our table myself. The entire time I was there, no one cleaned the tables. All the combos don't include drinks. Very poorly laid out. Too loud, I could not hear people at my own table. Sign states they have to request single-use items including napkins plasticware. The dry rub is messy, it would be nice if they had some hand wipes. read more

The foods good it's just the quantity of sauce given and rushing through the order.would rather make the drive to McAllen p.s check your order before driving off. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - The amount of sauce I was given - Chicken Shop Near Me - McAllen, Texas

The drive thru was a bit crowded. I decided to dine in and check out the decor. The place has giant murals on all sides. A/C vents, tube, chairs and benches are in bright red. I don't have issue with the distracting decor at all. The music is slightly louder than average. Due to the hollow interior in a square shape, there are a lot eches with background noise from the ice maker. Spicy level is really a subject thing. My first try was medium to set a baseline. I ordered a 2 tender meal. The meal doesn't come with a drink, so had to sell out another $2 and change to get tea or soft drinks in small size. The chicken strip was served in a timely manner as a fast food restaurant. The chicken strips and fries were hot as they should. The meal came with 2 slices of white bread and slices of pickles. I think the white bread is a bit non-sense as they could make the bread into garlic bread or added flavoring. For a single meal with drink, I spent $15+ dollars after tax, it is steep for fast food. There are restaurants serving non-fast food for this price. The value wasn't there. I would say if the drink was included, then the price is justified. Overall, it's a 3.4 out of 5 because of the value vs food/portion served. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I had heard how popular it was, but I wasn't very impressed with the food. It looked good, portions were great, and I liked the option of adding cheese. But unfortunately I found the chicken to be bland and wished I hadn't asked for cheese on my fries. I don't know how to explain it, I just wasn't a fan of the taste. The staff was very attentive and I appreciated how they offered suggestions when I was unsure of what to get since it was my first time. I also liked how they walked around asking patrons if they needed anything while they were eating. The vibe was also cool. Puro 956 lol. I don't see myself going back just because there are better tasting options elsewhere (in my opinion) but I would still recommend it. See for yourself, you might like it. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Dave's #4 1 Slider with Fries - Chicken Shop Near Me - McAllen, Texas

***WARNING*** 'Dave's Hot Chicken' is NOT joking. This HURTS. First your mouth, then your stomach, then ....elsewhere (hint: ). I also don't even know how the outside of my mouth hurt in places I don't think the chicken even touched. But let me tell you, it's DELICIOUS. 10/10 will be eating here again. HOWEVER, NEVER will I ever do "Reaper" again. It is APTLY named, I kind of want to die, and maybe would rather die than do this again! I want to reiterate though, DELICIOUS. Service is super fast here also and the place is awesomely decorated in some wild paintings! read more

1st time experience at Dave's. My daughter and I shared Dave's #2, of 2 sliders with fries for $18.68. You get to pick your level of "Hot" which gets as hot as ghost reaper. At that level they have you sign a waiver. They offer regular soft drink options, like other fast food chains. Nothing special about the fries. Their chicken is okay. To my tongue palette chicken was over seasoned, my daughter said the same. If you are trying to watch your weight this is not your chicken. I love the environment and if you want to work here you would have fun. Employee's appear to help each other and have fun while they are hustling. I can see myself enjoying a slider with a cold beer while watching a football game at the comfort of my recliner. If that is not a couch potato, I don't know what is. read more

Super flavorful sandwhich with honey on top! Nice and fresh, crispy, and hot food! Sometimes that's all it takes for a great experience. Vibrant ambience and lots of employees to take care of the busy business. Drive thru was packed, no open tables, line out the door, outdoor seating was packed too. Seems like it's the craze right now. Cane's has some competition! A huge opportunity is a bigger dining area as people were jumping on the next open table once someone gets up! Nevertheless, I will definitely be back! read more

There is a store right near me and I've been wanting to try it out. Well, I went there today and I would never go back again. It is disgusting. The hot sauce is not a sauce. It's like they sprinkle half a bottle of powdered spice on it. And all I am tasting is powder in my mouth. It's just gross. I could not even eat it. read more

SO GOOD! Cannot recommend this place enough. The Mac and Cheese was so good, would go back for just this alone. The pickles were crunchy and so good. The sauce was such a nice compliment to the hot chicken, which was juicy and delicious. The staff were nice enough, but it did take quite a while to get our food. Probably more of a statement to how busy they were than the staff themselves. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Mac & Cheese Dave's #3 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries Dave's #1 2 Tenders w/ Fries - Chicken Shop Near Me - McAllen, Texas

well to start off the line was really long waited 20 mins to get inside. I got the Dave's 1# I waited about 10 minutes for the food not bad I got the food first the tenders were way to big and to much seasoning. when I took a bite it was dryer than Death Valley im not even lying the chicken was flavorless. Fries were really good though. Overall 2.5/10 Bad like Really Bad read more

First time and it won't be my last! The chicken was crispy and hot! The fries were also a solid 9, and crispy as well. Fast service even though they were busy and the "Lite Spice" wasn't spicy at all (I like a lot of hot & spicy food), I'll definitely try the mild next time. The cheese with the fries were sooo yummy and on the slider even more! I ordered a cheese cup instead of on the slider but I'd probably add it to the slider next time as well with order a cup of it to dip my fries in. Overall a great and tasty experience! read more

I'm from SoCal..definitely living up to its standards of how I remember it. Let's just hope it can last...not many franchises that I look forward to doesn't seem to last much out here in the Valley...especially the service. But good size and the heat is there. read more

The food was great. The fires where perfectly warm crunchy and fluffy, sauce is creamy and tasty. The chicken is crunchy and has an almost dry rub spice mix, I really enjoyed the fact that they had a variety of spice levels and other flavors, excited to try more in the future!! Size was smaller than most chicken sandwiches since they are considered sliders!! Love it! read more

I had a bad day so I decided to have Dave's hot chicken, it just made me more upset. Super overhyped and portion size was super small.

I usually don't eat spicy food, but the spices in the chicken and fries are so good! I have gone twice this week because I have been craving the sliders and chicken strips along with the macaroni! It has been so good and it's been difficult to finish the whole meal because portions are big read more

I am hoping our experience can be chalked up to being newly opened. The music was WAY too loud. We almost had to shout to the girl to order. We both had the #1, 2 tenders, fries, pickles, and sliced bread. One lite mild and one medium. We ordered the kale slaw to share. Meals do not include a drink. The prices are not inexpensive. After adding drinks it was just under $35 for two of us. There was no ice or lids for the drinks. The chicken while tasty was not overly spicy. My lite mild had basically no spice. The medium had a little spice. The fries were really good as well as the pickles. The slaw was not good. Basically tasteless. Wouldn't bother with it again. They did not automatically give us utensil packets. We had to ask for them. While I appreciate customer service, four different people coming by to ask if everything was okay was overkill. We'll try them again but definitely go through the drive thru next time and not dine in. We'll skip the slaw also. read more

Guy took my order and came to 13.85 and that's with no drink. He gave me a dirty button clicker and when my order is ready it beeps, gross. I said thank but he did not. Actually not mid but expensive ngl, the only critic I have is I don't like how overbearing the salt is because after the 1 st tender I felt sick I couldn't finish it but it was good read more

Honestly, I was expecting more from their sandwiches. After weeks of hearing the big hype behind this place, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the chicken I received was breading more than anything as opposed to any real chicken in it. I would just go to Chick-fil-a if I wanted a spicy chicken sandwich. I do think it is cool to be able to pick various levels of spice. I don't know if I would come again. read more

This Daves hot chicken was disgusting, you can't even taste the juice of the chicken, the bread is disgusting, and the chicken tastes like paprika, not even chicken. the way they package the food is messy and gross, the only thing i liked was the fries....and the sauce...is definitely a rip-off of Rasing canes secret sauce...the service over there is also not good, when you walk in there would be a group of people shouting "WELCOME, WELCOME, WEEELCOOOME!!!" its absolutely noisy and weird, but also annoying its absolutely loud over there, I would not recommend Daves hot chicken, disgusting place... read more

If I could give zero stars I would !!! It's Pure salt !! Not at all what I was expecting from $63 meal for 4 combos and 3 drinks. I can't believe I wasted my money on this crap. I could not even eat it. the salty seasoning on the chicken was horrible. The heat from mild, medium and hot had no difference in heat. The cole slaw did have much to it either was very dry. The Mac N cheese and Dave sauce are the only things that are Edible. read more

After weeks of passing by and seeing long lines as far as the eye could see I was excited when my spouse stopped by and went inside to order as there were barely any cars in the parking lot . Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. We ordered the tender meal with one slider with fries . The chicken itself was ok not juicy but not dry now the outer layer was a coating of dry ,salty flavorless dust that clinger to the chicken making it undesirable. The crinkle fries were soggy and salty . BUT the pickle slices were crunchy !! To top it off I had the displeasure of re-tasting the few bites I had not too long after as I literally couldn't stomach it. Never again ! I'll stick with wing barn boneless wings or even wing daddy. read more

It was ok.. a bit pricey but the service was good and the place was clean. I would recommend going but wait until it slows down
