I came to them as a kid when they had their shop on Skippack Pike and Dekalb Pike. Then when they tore that shopping center down to build the current one, it took Mike's some time to find another place. I was happy to find they had moved down the street on Dekalb but they are now in the back of a building with a consignment store on the front. It's a little harder to find but they have small-ish signs out front. Mike and his Dad, Mike Sr., have both been cutting my hair for so long. They always listen to what you want and do a great cut. They are big Philly sports fans so if you start by talking about one of the teams it will turn into a great conversation. Can't say enough good things about this family business. If you're ever in Blue Bell and need a good haircut from some great barbers, Mike Devlin's is your place.

Not only is Shear Supreme very reasonably priced, but the owner, Michelle, did a great job with my cut and highlights and I've received a few compliments on the cut at work this week. Michelle is a one-woman operation, but she kept her appointments running smoothly and on time. I also liked the small town atmosphere of the shop where Michelle has known some of her clients for years and she makes new clients feel very welcome. The only draw back is that it's cash or check only, but that's the case at many salons, especially smaller establishments.

I was contacted fast by this location and we set up a meeting and etc. I informed him that I am hard of hearing. He ensured me that all his clients are treated the same and I was in good hands with him, I believe he's the owner. I wanted the girl who was getting a lot of clients but I'll have to wait 2 months for her so I went with him. When I got there it looked beautiful. All these people getting gorgeous dreads and it was black owned, which I love. He was nice at first and asked what I want. But that did not last. Let make this short. He burned me with hot water twice, was jerking my hair and I told him like 2 times it hurted. The dryer was so hot I told him like twice it burning me. People kept looking at me while he was doing my hair as if they was talking about me ( he know I'm hard of hearing) which wasn't cool. I was in there for 4 hours and my head hurted so bad. My babysitter was like what took so long. I basically wasted like 200 dollars . I hate going to the salons cause something always go wrong. But this was the worst experience I ever had and it really traumatized me that I will NEVER EVER GO TO A SALON AGAIN. I am writing this because I don't want anyone to go through what I went through. If you are different than others don't go here. I started my dreads on my own . The one he did looked like shit . He clearly didn't know what to do with my natural hair type . He even kept asking me if I had a perm. My hair worked better with gel. I wax. I have soft curls. My dreads look really nice due to ME. I did like 3 attempts before I got the look that I wanted which is free. If you want to start dreads. Please take my advise. Do it yourself.
