I had my first appointment with David Polk at Salon Loft #13, and I am truly beyond impressed. I came in transitioning from a perm to my natural hair and wasn't sure how it would turn out--but David exceeded every expectation. He skillfully blended the remaining perm at the top with my natural tapered cut so seamlessly that it looks completely intentional and polished. The result is a clean, feminine, and professional style that I absolutely love. On top of his talent, the convenience of Sunday hours and his location right in the community made the experience even better. I walked out feeling confident, "recharged", refreshed, and honestly speechless. If you're considering a cut--especially a transition to natural hair--don't hesitate. David knows exactly what he's doing. Pamela read more

He gave me exactly what I asked for and more. A kind soul who has a lot of experience within his job. He knows how to hold a conversation and he cares for every customer. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a cut. read more

A great cut with great conversation. It's a one on one space so you know you'll get his full attention. I highly recommend

Dave is the only barber that understands my hair. My hair is thin and very fine, extremely soft like baby hair. He cuts it in a way that doesn't make my hair look thin. His lines are crisp and clean as well. I can rave about his work for the longest but I also want to state that he is extremely kind and encouraging. He is professional and keeps his station and area immaculately clean. You would not regret ever going to him. There's been a couple of occasions I've tried other barbers just to have variety....never again! I regretted it each time. No matter what I will never step out and go to a different barber. Dave is the only one! I've been going to him for years and he has remained consistent. The parking at his current location on Washington Boulevard, salon lofts, is great. I'm always able to find street parking in that area at any time of day. read more

David is a great stylist and barber! I found him on Google after seeing the amazing cuts he did on his clients and I'm fortunate to be another one to add to the list. He had great energy, precision with cutting, and provided wonderful guidance about the type of styles that would work for a client. He takes great pride in the work he does and you will not be disappointed if you go for a visit! read more

This was my very first time cutting my hair and I had been contemplating for years on who was the perfect fit. I found dave on Instagram and my friends raved about him. The booking was super easy and the location was easy to find. Dave is really nice and very patient for whatever your needs are. Prices are great and shop was nice. I would recommend to anyone looking for the best of the best in the game. I will definitely be going back. Thanks again, Dave. read more

They took some new ways of ensuring health safety during these COVID times well. There were masks, we had to be escorted in to avoid other people, and things were cleaned and prepped well. The barber was pretty dope and the cut was really nice, exactly what I wanted. The catalog is so diverse so check it out! read more

Dave Polk - Me after my haircut - Barbers Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Dave was kind enough to let me walk in on a busy Friday and was upfront about getting to me after taking care of other appointments. I was impressed with the overall service from start to finish. From the moment I sat down he knew what he wanted to do and made sure to adjust his approach according to any requests I had with zero hesitation or attitude. He had a very friendly and professional demeanor which only validated my decision to take a chance on his services. $35 for fade, lineup and scissors. Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good. I'll be back. read more

There are so many things I'd love to say about Dave, but to start off, he is an absolute craftsman when it comes to his work. His attention to detail and knowledge of how to make their hair work naturally based on its flow was utterly mind-blowing. For example, as an Asian male with non-traditional hair, he was able to help me figure out a haircut that would fit my facial profile while following the natural flow of how it grew. And as if that wasn't enough to make me a long time client, Dave is just an absolutely amazing guy. The positive energy and vibes he has makes it a joy to sit in the chair as he cuts your hair. In fact, you almost don't want it to end because the conversations are stimulating and inspiring. Can't recommend him highly enough. Be sure to check him out! read more

I found Dave via Yelp and after seeing his reviews, I wanted to check him out. He uses StyleSeat so I booked a morning appointment. When I arrived, he greeted me warmly and wrapped up the client in his chair. In fact, his personality is awesome and I enjoyed our brief convo. He was done in no time as I just needed a neck taper for a short hairstyle. I had forgotten cash but luckily he was able to accept my card payment. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the price I paid was more than the app said the service would cost which I'm assuming was a mistake. I don't think I want to continue going to a hairstylist for the curls and a barber for the neck. However, if I ever cut my entire head and need a full haircut, I'd go back regularly. read more

I've been going to David for a few months now and he is a solid barber but definitely have been cutting corners as of late. Not starting on time, rushing the cut, lack of attention to detail, and talking way too much for you to not do a thorough job. In addition, one of the services advertises a oil and hot towel treatment that he has not done once. When asked about it, his excuse was "due to the pandemic...." That makes zero sense. Nice guy and could be a solid barber, but you'll gotten my business for the last time. read more

I rarely write reviews but Dave gave me the freshest cut I've ever had. He is truly a craftsman. Moving to a new location brings all types of anxiety and finding someone you trust to cut your hair is a task all its own. Dave will talk you through the entire experience and offer guidance where he see's fit. As an African American male, finding your barber is like entering into a committed relationship.. Once you find a good one, you have no reason to go anywhere else. Book an appointment with style-seat because Dave is the best barber in the DMV, so he is in high demand. It's a world class cut without world class prices. read more

Alright I might be in my feelings on this one but here me out. After moving to Virginia I been here for about two years and couldn't find a barber for me and my boys in northern va. We been to all the so called master barber and couldn't even fade my son head. The only place I found to cut hair is this place in Fredericksburg guy name AJ cut my boys and my hair it was the best cut since moving up here from Texas. But I forgot his number and the place where it was at(if your reading this and know please let me know) Anyway let me give you my reason for one star on this place. So I found this place by mistake I was just looking for black barbershop in the DMV. Seen a few pictures of some nice looking fades and found this place. So I quickly made my appointments.... here comes the bad part So I made three appointments for this Thursday one at 10am,1030am and 1145am I made them few days ago. So I'm hype cause I know I'm getting an great haircut finally.... so everything great I get confirm this morning about an reminder for tomorrow.. so I went to check my email today and both my 10am and 1145 been cancelled so this leaves me with only 1030-11am. I made this appointment and now its cancelled for what? I mean is he close for the day? Nothing so I'm thinking he made room for an regular or someone he knows and said the hell with me ill give him one cut and this dude gonna have to come back whenever.... Yo my man I don't care how good you cut hair you just lost some good money. I don't know who is at fault but I am going with you I was confirmed what if I paid then what I could of kept my spot. I'm off to find a new barber now this guy will not get my business. I was really looking forward to this cut but to cancel my appointments and leave me with one is not cool. With all that said this place gets an Jordan crying face I'm heartbroken that I couldn't get an cut and mad that my appointments were cancel unless he had to do something important at my time then I can understand but to me it look like he cancel my appointments for someone else. read more

Dave is the best kept secret in the DMV! He can work with any kind of hair, and can design, and style. A great haircut is key to any man's (or lady) carefully crafted style--but finding the right Barber isn't just about striped poles and antiseptic combs. Dave will never assume you are getting the same cut. He will ask, and make you part of the creative process. The salon is calm with a positive vibe. read more

Dave is a top notch hair stylist. I discovered him a few months ago when looking for a stylist who knew how to cut a men's fade undercut. He cuts a mean fade. But in addition to being able to pull off the fade, he can style and use scissors with the best of 'em. He can put a hard part in if you like. Adjust the shape of the back. Connect your sideburns to the beard and fade it. All the little details that make a modern men's haircut "pop". Importantly, he asks you before each cut what you want to have done today, and you're not nervous that it may or may not happen. I've even referred a female who loved my cut and he now has a repeat customer in her as well. So, in summary, as much as it pains me to have written this review because a potential hidden gem will be inundated by more requests thus making it harder for me to schedule an appointment, Dave is the kind of person who anyone would root for -- kind, humble, friendly, and most importantly, expertly skilled at his craft. read more

Great service and great experience. Dave was extremely nice and friendly. I'm fairly basic when it comes to hair cuts and Dave was extremely helpful with figuring out what was the best style to go with. Very professional and quick without skimping on the quality. I was in and out of there in 25 minutes and will definitely be going back again. Glad to have finally found a barber that I plan on going to again and again. read more

I had never gotten a design shaved into my head, so I was super apprehensive about who to pick. Dave had such an amazing review on yelp, and wow he lived up to it!!! First of all, he was so personable and charming. He's so talented, and really talked me through every step of the haircut. He told me exactly what he was doing and asked if it was okay. I specifically wanted it to be pretty feminine, and he found the perfect combination of freshness and femininity. He hyped me up the whole time and I felt amazing through the whole thing! I thought I would not get a side shave once and just let me hair grow out, but I'll be back in a couple weeks! I've never gotten so many compliments in my life on my hair. I love it. Thanks Dave!!!!! I was in a desperate need for a haircut and I have been waiting until I found the right barber to go to. I just randomly googled master barber dc and he was the first to come up. I saw all these great reviews on yelp so I decided to call and lucky me he was kind enough to squeeze me in same day! After a formal introduction, handshake and a relaxing smile, I showed him a pic of how I like to style my hair. He was able to give me a cut to fit that style exactly and even warned me he would be making it lower in order to do the style complete justice. While cutting, he showed and communicated exactly what he was doing. You could definitely see his passion for his art and he works so efficiently. This is definitely the only person that will be cutting my hair from now on! (pics soon come) read more

Dave is my go-to guy in DC for a great cut, hands down! Dave is simply amazing. I can't find any barbers in the area who not only can cut Asian men's hair, but know style. He takes his time and has your best interest in mind. Dave knows his stuff. He does it right, he does it tight - not only does he know how to make you look good, he makes you feel good while he's at it. I would give him five stars just for class and customer care. But beyond that, his skill and versatility more than earn top marks. You can see it in all the photos. Those brought me in, and his consistency has kept me returning. He's the real deal. As someone who always has a hard time finding the right fit for my hair type and desired look, I am exceedingly grateful to say I've found my haircut-home.
