My experience with Dave was by far the worst part of purchasing a home. I hate to be sour grapes and am usually a very reasonable conflict-averse person but Dave was extremely unprofessional and rude. I avoided writing a review because frankly I feel PTSD just thinking about our experience but now that we are refinancing our home with another loan officer, the experience is entirely different and I feel this needs to be said. Dave and his team made a huge number of clerical errors on our paperwork- our names were misspelled, our old address was incorrect, the list goes on and on. My husband and I are detailed. We read the fine print. We pointed these errors out. We also had questions. A lot of them. I'm a doctor, my husband an engineer. I'm not saying we are geniuses but we certainly are not dumb. The process of buying a house is confusing and unfamiliar. Dave was extremely short answering our questions and made us feel stupid for asking them. It became very obvious at some point that he was getting really tired and frustrated with us. I get it. I know we were not "easy" clients. We stayed up, read ALL the documents, tried to understand as much as we could. And I could even forgive the clerical errors. But what was NOT okay was the attitude. Let's not even mention that he was late to our meeting and the tension was so palatable that he did not show up to sign when we closed. Here's the cherry on top: Somehow, one of his email messages to someone on his team was copy/pasted into our loan documents. In it he lists the mistakes on our documents that we wished to be corrected (names misspelled, address incorrect, number of years incorrect), then says "This has got to be the most ridiculous requests I have ever seen." When we read that (mind you, we read it all together, out loud, at the Title Office with our real estate agent and Title Officer), the room quieted in shock and someone said, "I'm so sorry." For your viewing pleasure, I have uploaded a snapshot of said documentation. Obviously, we didn't jive. And it happens. But I truly expected at least some amount of respect and professionalism. We walked away after closing our first home with a sour taste in our mouth because of Dave. It really ruined the experience for us. And while I can admit that we were a detailed, hard couple that would not let errors go unnoticed, we were painstakingly polite and respectful the entire time. It would have been nice to get the same treatment back, especially as a client. And really, is it that ridiculous to want our names to be spelled correctly?? read more

Let me start off by saying that I was unable to close using Dave Byrd and I'm STILL writing a review on his execution. I started working with Dave back in March of '22 and was impressed by his eager and enthusiastic personality. Dave was always available to answer my questions and as we are all living through one of the worst experiences as a homebuyer with the feds jacking up the rates, he was there to help me, reassure me and do everything he could to make sure I was taken care of, whether it was locking a good rate, reassuring me things will work out or answering the numerous questions that I had. I'm purchasing a new build, so Dave has been working with me for at least 7 months, from pre-qualifications to finalizing. Dave has integrity and stands by his commitments. He is clear and up front in his disclosures so there was no confusion, ever, in the process. It left a sour taste for both of us that I could not close with him as I made a mistake and was looking at a significant fee if I chose to close with Dave, which is unfortunate because Dave's package was better, not by much, but better than the one I had to go with.
