Dan came highly recommended to us by a good friend of ours, yet he still completely exceeded our expectations. As first-time home buyers, we really valued Dan's many years of experience and his strong understanding of the housing market. We had a lot of questions, but he was a remarkable listener and patiently guided us through the entire process. We always felt that Dan was genuinely more focused on finding us our ideal home than closing a deal. Dan was flexible and always found a way to work with our crazy schedules to show us not only the houses we requested to tour, but thanks to his excellent networking abilities, houses that weren't even on market yet. When it came down to negotiating with the sellers, Dan went the extra mile to get us the best deal possible. He truly made our first home-buying experience a fantastic one. When we need to sell or buy a house in the future, we will definitely reach out to Dan and his team again. read more

We worked with Dan recently to purchase our new home. Dan was very flexible with our needs, even helping us start our search while still overseas before relocating to the Bay Area. He's an extremely experienced and knowledgeable agent, and was very patient with all of our questions and needs. He supported us from start to end with the process and continued to support us even after closing. We highly recommend Dan and will be definitely come back to him the next time we need a realtor. read more

Dan was highly recommended by a family member, and based on my experience, I would like to share that I agree Dan is an excellent realtor. I think the the qualities that make Dan stand out is #1 his long experience as a realtor and #2 his long experience as a realtor in San Francisco which has some significant "particularities". Dan simplified the home selections given the parameters we requested and guided us through the process of buying a home. He also has a wealth of referrals for home modification and repair which was helpful. Dan was easy to work with, and is a true professional as a real estate agent. I highly recommend Dan as a real estate agent. read more

Dan Dodd is an absolute gem! We couldn't recommend him more. Dan was a friend's recommendation and we are so grateful that we went with him as our Realtor. We did interview a few options. We went with Dan for his knowledge on the SF market and his calm, professional demenor. As first-time home buyers, Dan provided tons guidance and grounded us, even as we read the frieghtning articles on the ensuing IPO frenzy. He was patient, kind, and hilarious. Visiting open houses with Dan was a pleasure, full of laughs and great conversations. When we visited open houses without him, every single realtor knew him and spoke incredibly highly of him. No exaggeration, everyone loves Dan. We knew we were in the right hands. In terms of results, Dan got us a house with immediate equity...in San Francisco...who does that? He is like a magician. Even our mortgage lender shared how impressed she was with our sale. Dan connected us to a network of helpful folks from Mortgage Advisors to Contractors. We felt setup for success. Working with him was such a positive experience. Dan provides so many insights and manages to do it all, while being a genuine and good-natured person. We're so grateful, thanks Dan! read more

BUYER BEWARE. i purchased a house from this listing agent and have regretted the decision. The house was contaminated with mold and mildew in many places in Sheetrock, which was not disclosed. My contractor said it looked liked baseboards were painted over when damp because the paint was crackEd due to contraction of wood after drying. I spent over $12k to remediate. After move in, house smelled of mold and mildew, including entire contents of closets. I have to repeatedly wash and dry clean clothes to remove odors and experienced detrimental health issues due to the contamination. This agent indicated there was "some water" but also said in AVID that "no damage to the Sheetrock or any other parts of the property were observed." Other latent issues existed like dishwasher was not attached to countertop, kitchen shelving was filthy, "new" kitchen cabinets were cheap and poorly installed. Cosmetic repairs done just for house sale covered up all of these problems. read more

Who would think that the process of selling one's home from hundreds of miles away would be seamless and thoroughly enjoyable? We were given Dan's contact information, spoke on the phone, and hired him on the spot. We owned a condo in San Francisco that needed some updating and staging...this, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and our having moved out of the area. Dan and his partner, Hiro, saw to arranging all the painting, new carpets, updated appliances, repairs and staging...and we never had to leave our home. Our property was listed, and sold above ask in three days. We couldn't be happier and can't wait to meet Dan in person when we visit the Bay Area. So, if you're looking for a San Francisco realtor who goes beyond the call of duty, Dan Dodd is absolutely the one! read more

Dan is 100% the best and most incredible realtor in SF, or maybe CA - possibly the world! He helped us buy our first condo in SF in 2013 and most recently to sell that condo (for an outstanding record breaking price) when we unexpectedly lost our visa and had to suddenly return to London! Dan managed the entire sale process while we were traveling abroad!-Amazing staging, advice on the market, outstanding marketing and communication throughout! I cannot speak highly enough of Dan Dodd and his team. Faced with the task of rennovating and selling my Mom's house--but first emptying it of 50+ years worth of stuff--he mustered a wonderful team who shined the house up. 100% professional at all times, warm, patient, and well-connected, he found a solution for every challenge we faced along the way, and sold the house quickly for well over our asking price. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I purchased our first house earlier this year with Dan's help. We came in with very little understanding of the house-buying process but if Dan was ever annoyed by our numerous naive questions, he never showed it. He patiently set up appointments for us to see a range of places to help us narrow down what we wanted, gently guided us to make offers he felt were appropriate for the property, and helped maneuver us to be the most attractive offer available. When we couldn't make up our minds on a fixer upper, Dan reached out to a contractor to quickly come by and provide clarity on our options. In short, Dan's great. The worst part of buying a house with Dan is we don't get to hang out with him much anymore, but I couldn't imagine working with anyone else. read more

I first worked with Dan a little over 3 years ago. Our local agent in Anchorage referred us to Dan. We couldn't have asked for better service. He is very knowledgable In the sector we were searching - at that time new construction 1 BR condos in the mid-Market area. We looked at several ad decide on one with a fantastic view and a great location. San Francisco real estate purchase are VERY different from Alaska purchases. It seemed there were hundreds of disclosures, reports, informational documents to acknowledge and peruse. Dan discussed the paperwork and and helped ease the anxiety. He worked diligently with our banker and mortgage team in Alaska and brought everything to a smooth and problem free closing. Dan is also a fountain of knowledge on various tradesmen. Blinds, painting, furniture delivery... he had recommendations for all of our needs. He kept in regular contact long after the sale. Dan has helped us again with another purchase in San Francisco. Like last time it was smooth sailing all the way through the transaction. Dan is the only person I'd ever call about future San Francisco property purchases and sales. read more

Dan Dodd served an incredibly important role for us when we sold our Glen Park home this past summer. He told us what we needed to hear, not what we wanted to hear. All too often, a real estate agent can be motivated to close deals and move on to the next opportunity. After all, there's no way to know what a home could sell for, and agents' motivations are often misaligned with those of their client. In our case, Dan's assessment of the market - during the choppy times of Covid - was nothing short of prescient. He continually shared with us his unfiltered perspective (often being news we weren't thrilled to hear) and was a level-headed sounding board and thought partner throughout an extremely stressful time. Knowing our goals but working with what the situation and marketplace handed to him, Dan navigated a challenging environment with a tougher-than-normal home to move and did so with grace. We can't envision finding another agent with the integrity, patience, perspective, confidence and results that Dan has. read more

Dan came highly recommended and did not disappoint. He was an important adviser in our year-long analysis of whether to sell or not, giving counsel freely and at length without any commitment on our part to engage him as the selling agent. We did decide to sell and contracted with Dan. During the process he answered our questions completely and promptly and listened carefully to our concerns and worked with us to develop good solutions. As issues popped up, he quickly resolved them so we could first get the property ready to show, then show it, get offers, select the best one, and ultimately close with ease. We enthusiastically recommend Dan Dodd. read more

This is long overdue as I closed on my first home in September of 2007 with the great assistance of Dan. A first time homebuyer who tends to exhibit A-type traits, I know good customer service when I get it. I was placed in Dan's hands when my realtor left CB. With Dan, no question was stupid, my own efforts were never wasted and a heartfelt "Come to Jesus" talk about what I wanted in a place really struck a chord with me. He was by my side during a bidding war I lost where afterwards he promised I would find something bettter. Sure enough he found me a place that even this weekend I marvelled at the fact that it is mine. I am proud that he is part of the "team" I have assembled. Bottom line: Professional, courteous, he knows the city, he knows the neighborhoods and my good fortune is that he knows and is respected by his fellow realtors. Thank you DAN! read more

Dan represented my wife and I when we purchased our first home and I can't even begin to express how helpful, patient, genuine, friendly, knowledgable, and trustworthy he was during, and after, the entire process. After several months of looking on our own (with several iterations of raising our budget and lowering our expectations) he led us to a beautiful property we loved....and could afford! During the intense and competitive process of bidding, he walked us through the strategy, kept us in the loop during the process, and held our first-time-buyer hands until we closed. Once it was over, he expressed genuine happiness for us, and made it clear that the relationship we built did not end when the transaction was over. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended! read more

Over the course of my 19 years in San Francisco I purchased and sold multiple residences, and Dan ranks at the very top of my list as an effective and knowledgeable agent. His guidance was consistently accurate and informed by timely data and strategic analysis. Dan's skills resulted in multiple above-asking offers, and a smooth closing. Kudos to Dan and his team! read more

Dan worked so hard for us to find excellent listings at an extremely difficult period in the market (November and December 2008). I began to trust his excellent sense of the market quickly when he heartily recommended a great home at a great price that would be perfect for my needs and when we hesitated, it got bought within a heartbeat. When we decided to buy an even MORE perfect place, Dan worked at all hours (during the holiday season no less!) to get us immediate access, great inside information, and ultimately, a simply magnificent and incomparable deal. He never hesitated to give unbiased advice or answer the most piddling of questions. All with a positive, friendly and genuine manner. I can't recommend his services enough! read more

Our long time realtor at home found Dan for us when we recently decided to buy a condo in San Francisco. Dan was a true professional every step of the way. We talked over the phone for a bit and he set up a web portal so we could quickly and easily see properties that met our criteria. A couple of weeks later we met Dan in San Francisco. He was very knowledgable about each of the properties we visited and each of them met our criteria. Upon seeing one property we especially liked, Dan was quick to schedule a second showing the next day and we went back to his office to write an offer. After one counter offer, our deal was accepted by the seller and we went on to a 30 day close. Dan stayed on top of things every step of the way making this long distance transaction as easy as if we'd been next door. Thanks Dan! read more

Dan is a great advocate to have when you are either buying or selling a home. (He handled the sale of my condo, and also represented me on the purchase of my house.) Dan is extremely knowledgeable on the San Francisco market, a skilled negotiator, well connected in the Real Estate Market, very responsive with a calm demeanor, and a super nice guy. He is a pleasure to work with. Dan's strategy for marketing my condo (including renovations and staging, pricing, marketing, and negotiating with the buyer's agents) resulted in a price significantly higher than I had expected. The entire process was very low stress. Dan and his team handled all of the arrangements for renovations, staging, cleaning, etc., and managed the entire process while keeping me informed of the progress. He consulted with me on decisions, provided advice, but never pushed me to follow his advice. I did follow much of his advice and believe the high price and smooth process was a direct result of his skills and expertise. I feel so lucky I found Dan. He was recommended to me when I was house hunting by a broker at an open house who couldn't represent me. I was skeptical at first but was won over by Dan's market knowledge and responsiveness. When I found the house I wanted, Dan advised me on what he thought it would actually sell for, as well as how to best craft a winning offer. Based on the success and experience working with Dan to buy my house, I chose Dan to represent me in selling my condo. read more

My husband and I are really tough customers. We expect to receive the highest level of service which is often times hard to find (amazingly). We bought our second SF home with Dan. After 3 mediocre agents (all ranked "Top Agents"), and 10 months of aggressive home searching, we decided to interview more agents as we were at our wits end and ready to give up on SF and the Bay Area. Dan came highly highly recommended. We met Dan and liked him right away. He listened to what was important to us, wasn't afraid to give his opinion, and helped us through our search. Within 2 weeks of working with Dan, we were in contract on our new home. We couldn't believe it. The experience really made us realize that the right agent is what makes the difference. Dan not only found us the home of our dreams (which was not initially on our radar), he guided us through the negotiation process, held our hand through every step of the close, and is continually in contact with us numerous times a day as we are working to make minor modifications to our new home. He goes above and beyond what is required of him - meeting us 2-3 times per week (post close) to let vendors into our home, working with the sellers who are renting back, etc. If we could give Dan 10 stars we would. He is knowledgeable, hard working, diligent, experienced, business savvy, and easy to get along with. He never once pressured us and we always felt like we were his only clients. We honestly couldn't recommend him enough (and believe me - we are tough to please). My only regret is that we didn't meet Dan earlier so it could have saved us endless months of painful time consuming searching. read more

My husband and I met Dan on a Sunday and by the following Thursday we went into escrow on the perfect home (for a song). Granted, I can't guarantee everyone can be so fortunate in their timing, but I can say that if you choose to work with Dan your escapade into the home buying market will likely be fruitful, pleasant and soundly advised. Before meeting Dan we spent several months working with one of the City's other top producing agents and, like Dan, she provided excellent customer service and was a pleasure to work with. What was missing was clear and comfortable communication, deep insight into the market and a strong network to get deals through on favorable terms. Dan has provided all this and so much more. What had felt like an abrasive offer process became, with Dan, a gentile unfolding. We finally feel like we have found both a rock solid advocate and an informed adviser. I write this review in the hopes that in Dan you find a Realtor who creates the best possible outcome for all parties involved. No question that when it comes time to sell this place and buy another Dan will be our go to guy. The only sad thing is that between now and then we won't have an excuse to talk to Dan every day. Good luck! read more

Buying a house in San Francisco is not an easy task under normal circumstances. Buying a house in S.F. in the middle of a deadly pandemic with an "energetic" one year old in tow made a difficult situation even more challenging. Enter Dan Dodd! He's so great! We actually looked forward to seeing him, and house hunting became kind of enjoyable? Maybe our standards are low right now because of pandemic living, but all joking aside, we couldn't have asked for a better real estate agent than Dan. Dan is genuinely interested in being your real estate agent for life. He lets you know that he wants to make sure you buy the house that's right for you. He started off our house hunting by showing us a bunch of properties so he could get a sense of what we liked and didn't like. He was endlessly patient with all of our questions, and even sent us listings that met our criteria, but weren't formally listed yet. Having Dan Dodd as your real estate agent is like having someone at the top of their game, shepherd you though an extremely competitive sport that you know nothing about, and through their expertise helping you win. We ended up buying a super awesome house, in an amazing location, with an avocado tree in the backyard! read more

Dan was highly recommended to me by a good friend. Even though my friend knew many people in Real Estate, he emphatically told me that Dan is who I want. While we are not yet through the whole purchase procedure, working with Dan has been a breeze. And this has been especially important as we are buying a property 200 miles from our primary home. Four years after my search begun and three real estate agents later, I finally was introduced to Dan through a friend. Within three weeks of meeting him, I was in contract to buy a place -- and got it even though it was a multiple bid situation. I moved to the Bay Area several years ago. Back home, I am connected with many family friends who are real estate agents. I trust them, and I know that they will do their best for me. In California, I struggled to find someone who came even close to this until I met Dan. What makes Dan different? Well, first off, he gives NO pressure at all. Each of the previous real estate agents were pressuring me into buying places that had significant flaws and didn't offer any insight into the property beyond what was available on redfin, mls or cleanoffer. Dan, on the other hand, knew the inside scoop on everything we looked at. He knew every detail about every building. His passion for real estate is very clear. Dan knows every real estate agent he encounters very well. He makes sure that the transaction goes smoothly. Despite looking for a place for so long, the whole real estate transaction remained very mysterious to me. Dan walked me through every step of the way and made sure I knew exactly what was happening. It is kind of ironic that with such a low-stress, low-pressure agent, I bought a place so rapidly. It's also ironic that I ended up buying a place that was almost the opposite of what I had started out looking for, but it is exactly what I want. Dan's patience and ability to listen allows him to fine-tune your search and show you amazing properties that you never would have considered in the first place. I can't just say I highly recommend that you work with Dan. Instead, I'll say you're a fool if you work with anyone else. read more

Dan is an incredibly competent agent. I've worked with close to 20 in both Seattle and San Francisco over 3 home purchases, and can say Dan is hands down the best. Dan is an absolute master at what he does, and is unique in that he's a killer at both representing on the sell side as well as the buy side. I came to Dan during a very difficult time in my life to sell my home during probably the worst time in the market (April 2009). He went well above his Realtor duties to help me get my house in optimal condition to sell at the highest possible price. He brought in experts to offer home improvement advice. He gently but firmly kept me on a project schedule and constantly kept me updated on any movement in the market as well as optimal open house weekends. When my home was ready for listing, Dan meticulously researched comps and used his insider knowledge to strategically set my home price. Then came the relentless marketing. Dan went above and beyond our agreed upon contract and marketing plan to get the word out about my home (and didn't limit himself to traditional SF ways to market a house). Dedicated website, fliers, craigslist, SF Chronicle listings, MLS was the tip of the iceberg and then you add in his extensive word-of-mouth marketing. The man knows EVERYONE in the Bay Area - and you can see that when it comes to selling your house. He's super aggressive when it comes to tapping into his network to get the word out. My house went on the market on a Thursday (in time for the agents tour), and my first (and last) open house was that Sunday. Despite the freak rainstorm that Sunday, I had 1 offer before it hit the MLS, 200 people come through for the open house, 7 offers (all over asking), SOLD within 36 hours of the open house. Just like that, all due to his aggressive marketing. I won't go into financial details, but let's just say I was more than pleased with the winning offer (well over comps). I was thankful when my house sold, but also had a "oh no, I'm homeless" moment, considering the market, I expected it to take much longer than 36 hours. Without even skipping a beat, Dan turned up the volume on my new home search. He kept in mind the sensitivity of my transition (down sizing, huge life change) when presenting me with possibilities. He is not only a relocation expert, but an investment adviser, keeping in mind that every home he presented me with had to have a strong resale value. Again he kept me educated and in the loop on market changes and the unique nature of the San Francisco housing market. He applied the same aggressive attitude when he sold my house, to looking for new home for me, leveraging the power of his network to extract as much information as possible in every home I considered. He advised me on all aspects of each investment and helped keep me reasonable and practical. I was extremely picky & spoiled (because I was downsizing), busy (because of my work schedule) and anxious (because I was technically homeless). Dan stuck with me, never showed any irritation, was constantly hustling to bring me options, showed absolute flexibility to show me options and NEVER ONCE pressured me into anything. With all my wacky requirements, he had me sitting pretty in my new condo (paying way less then I expected) exactly 30 days after I gave up the keys to my old house. I would not recommend being on the other side of the table of Dan in a negotiation, and my thought when it comes to Realtors, is, the cost is set - so why wouldn't I go with the very best I can find - maximizing the cost/profits of selling/buying my home? read more

There's not enough time in the day to speak on how incredible Dan was in helping my wife and I find a new home in San Francisco. Due to job changes, possibilities of leaving the Bay Area, and changes in the market, we went through the ringer for a solid year+. Dan stuck by us through thick and thin and was a brilliant advisor in our search for a two bedroom condo. He understands his clients needs, and the more honest and focused you are about what you want and can do with you buying power, the faster Dan will get you in a place that's right for you.
