The sales person allowed me to try more than a couple of samples before making a decision and I am glad. I ordered Dasher & Crank through Uber Eats, so I can't review their store/service, but their ice cream is yummy! I have a dairy allergy, so vegan ice cream is a must. Theirs was really good! I also enjoyed that a large amount of their flavors are vegan, so I had quite a selection to choose from. My friends without an allergy didn't care as much for their ice cream as I did, and could tell the vegan flavors from the flavors that contained dairy. This ice cream is pretty good and I'm very impressed because the matcha one is vegan The texture isn't that creamy compared to dairy but it is definitely creamy enough for me to enjoy it and not miss it! I was intrigued because the matcha has a distinct smell, reminds me of cereal, and it def tastes like matcha vs the super sweet kind you find at starbucks. The mouthfeel is the main reason why I took off a star. I'm very particular cause I used to be a food scientist lol but I personally found the afterfeel to be somewhat mouth drying and it does leave a thin coating on your tongue at the end. I was in Miami for a small weekend trip, and I decided there was no better way to start off my first night then with some ice cream. After browsing multiple local spots for dessert in Wynewood, the flavor selection at this place looked very appealing. I walked in around 11PM on a Friday. The place actually wasn't too crowded at all. The decorations and seating were very cute and aesthetically pleasing. Aside from ice cream, it was neat to see that this place offers a few other desserts as well as espresso beverages. They also have a decent variety of non-dairy and vegan ice cream options. The employees behind the counter were very helpful in offering help and allowing me to sample a few flavors before ordering. I decided to go for two of their most popular flavors: Ube Macupano and Salty Beach. Both of these flavors happened to be vegan by chance. I ordered my ice cream in a waffle cone. I also ordered a waffle cone with Cotton Candy and Black Mint for my sister. Each cone with 2 flavors came out to about $10 each, which I find is about average for a place like this. Upon leaving, I dropped big scoop off of one of my cones. The employee who had scooped my ice cream was extremely kind in helping me clean it. She also happily gave me a new one without charging me, even though I was willing to pay for it. I was fairly impressed by the ice cream after trying it. It's definitely different from any ice cream that I've had before. While being very flavorful and satisfying my sweet tooth, it's a little less heavy than dairy ice cream. I really don't have anything negative to say about this place. The service, quality, and taste of this ice cream is very good. I love the unique flavors and aesthetic touches that the shop has. For someone who loves to try weird flavors of ice cream, this place totally melts my heart. Elderflower, earl grey, coquito, latkes, Thai tea, thyme, lavender... I want to try them all! Luckily the staff is really friendly and let me sample to my heart's content, and even offer me flavors I didn't ask for. While I love the creativity of the store, it feels that some recipes is still in development stage. In sweet potato chai, for example, the potato is solid like big chunks of ice. Lavender is more bitter than aromatic. Some of the flavors sound intriguing but does not taste much. I don't mind helping with the R&D, but then I shouldn't be paying $5 a scoop for the privilege, even if it's a very large scoop. The girl at the counter recommended the ube flavor. I didn't consider it at first, as it's pretty easy to find in Asian grocery stores. However, one bite and I can see why it's their bestseller. It's full of the flavors of coconut and yam. Their menu changes a lot, so there's always something new with each visit. I'll give the ice cream alone a 4, extra points for the exciting flavors and... metal tasting spoons! Yes! I got the butterfly pea latte ($5.50), and I appreciated that they had a lot of options for non-coffee drinkers (i.e. beetroot latte). It's blue and tastes very 'earthy' - they offer either almond or oat milk (I chose oat) and can put in sweetener but I opted for without. I sampled some of the ice cream, but nothing really stood out to me although the coconut vegan ice cream was better than expected such as the salty dream (wish it was a bit more salted though). Located in the Wynwood area, there's a lot to like about this Insta-worthy ice cream shop called Dasher & Crank. 1) The staff is very friendly 2) their waffle cones are delish and made in-house 3) the venue is charming and trendy 4) they offer unique and innovative flavors: Lemon Speculoos, Black Lemonade, Black Mint, Honeycomb Crunch, Ube Macapuno just to name a few. These unique flavors are what drew me here in the first place and my first thought was that I'd like to try them all. We sampled 6 flavors out of the 18 available. After the first 4 samples, we weren't too impressed. We asked the staff for their personal favorites and happily ended up with Ube Macapuno and Strawberry Cream Cheese Guava. At first taste, these 2 flavors were definitely better than the first 4 we tried. We ordered one scoop of each. Upon further tasting of these two flavors we just purchased, they seemed to have more of a sugary and somewhat bland taste to them after a while.. not as good as the first taste. Something was lacking. The waffle cone, however, was delish and I'd highly recommend ordering this. Other places try to over compensate with toppings and cone styles to make up for their average ice cream. Dasher and Crank has no need to do that, the ice cream is delicious!
