Fantastic designer boutique hotel!
I stayed at Das Stue in mid april 2013. The hotel had been in business for about 4 months and is a former residence for the Danish Embassy (if I remember correctly).
Staff:
The staff was helpful and very nice. No complaints at all, and they were happy to be of service.
Location:
The hotel is placed next to Tiergarten. Perfect if you want to start your day with a morning run, or just a walk in the park (maybe take walk to Brandenburger Tor?). There's a bus stop 3-5 minutes away, and you can just as easily walk over to Kurfürstendamm (shopping area with KaDeWe among others). Estimate 20-30 minutes (probably less when you know the way). The Zoo is also close by if you want. to check it out.
The hotel:
Loved it! Apparently there are two buildings connected to the hotel. I didn't know, but check if you can get a room in the same bulding as the lobby (will put you in the same area as the breakfast/restaurant area, the bar, a nice outside area, fitness room and spa).
We ate out all days, so I can't comment on the breakfast service and the restaurant.
Overall cool design. Take a look at their website or hotels.com (where I booked my stay). The pictures tell the truth. Lovely rooms, well lit, apple/mac setup and free wifi.
Fitness room:
I didn't try the spa, but stopped by the fitness rooms. It leaves something to be desired, but then again that's usually the case with hotel fitness rooms. I didn't go there to work out (you can always find a local gym for a better setup), so it doesn't detract from my rating and experience.
Bar:
We stopped by the bar for one drink. About €830 later we returned to the room, tipsy and happy ;) So the bar works just fine.
Price:
We paid about NOK 2800 (about €365 or $477) for two people from Friday to Sunday. It was a bit more expensive than a few hotels nearby, but I decided to go for it because of the cool design of the hotel (which absolutely met my expectations), and didn't think it was too big an ask.
Overall:
Great place to stay in Berlin. We had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I say go for it. read more
