Don't let the name fool you. For its price, this place is EXTRAVAGANT…read more
Location | Golden. No, platinum. The street has diverse cafés, snack shops, convenience stores, gelato, and of course... Countless bars boasting pilsner, pilsner, pilsner! Walk for maybe ten to twenty minutes and you're at Potsdamer Platz, boasting a food court (with Oriental, traditional German, Japanese, etc.) and many shops (H&M, Esprit, Topshop, etc.)
Service | Exemplary. The girl at the front desk was extremely hospitable and spoke accented yet still understandable English. Wi-fi available on the first floor; I'm not sure about individual rooms, but I recall getting Internet in the lobby. There are a desktop computer and printer for guests to use as well.
Rooms | Bedding is convenient--blanket covers make sleeping much more comfortable than having to wedge between the sheet covering the mattress and the one under the actual blanket.
Bathrooms | I admire German precision like nothing else. Their shower heads are marked with temperatures 2 degrees Celsius apart (I'm not too sure about interval, but that's how I remember it.)
Breakfast | I highly doubt it's traditionally German, but the ham and cheese... sandwich? was rich and satisfying. Their hazelnut cremes are, dare I say, just as good as Nutella. They have a variety of coffees (8 if I recall correctly) and the machine just spits coffee out until you think it's going to spill... It proves you wrong; after one more drop, the machine stops, and your coffee is still very much intact. German precision, once again.
Luggage room | You can check out and still store luggage in their room at no extra charge. I don't know if they have any maximums on how many you can store, but that they let you is extremely generous in and of itself.
The place is modern, modestly-furnished, and comfortable.
I would give it six stars if I could. Heil Berlin Holiday Inn Express on Stresemannstraße.
