The staff at reception desk is incompetent, doesn't respond to well to requests in German, and doesn't understand or speak English. On one occasion, a colleague left for my husband and myself important documents at the desk. Receptionist called Jennifer did not understand who I was, what I needed, and when she did finally understand that I need to pick the docs up, she wanted to know what color they were. It was rather weird; my husband, who speaks some German, explained to her over the phone what we need, but apparently, she could not process the information. After two trips to the desk, we had to forcefully insist that she looks for the documents. They were right there, at the desk. It appeared that she could not recognize English letters on the paper, not to mention read what it was.
On the second occasion, we were trying to get a replacement for extremely dirty, stinky kettle in the room. It took two days negotiations with the reception desk till housekeeping finally replaced it, and only when we asked them directly.
