This morning I got lost on my way to my dental appointment. I was upset about my sick dog, thought I knew the way but didn't, and have really sensitive teeth so always have a little anxiety about going to my appointments anyway. By the time I got in the chair I was close to tears. However within moments of my exam with Dr. Ghafourpour, I was already feeling better. She and her assistant were extremely gentle and thorough. We were even having a few laughs together about this crazy pandemic life we're all living. The bottom line is, I was all smiles when I left and felt determined to finally write her a review, especially as I have been her patient for years. Here it is: 1. Their COVID protocols are top of the line and they have the system all worked out. I've been twice during this pandemic and any fears I had before the first time were quickly resolved. The office is lovely and light and modern with easy parking. 2. The whole team is really friendly and organized. From Jill at the front desk to the dental assistants and Darya herself. 3. Dr. Ghafourpour is a really gentle, warm, efficient and thorough dentist. She won't recommend unnecessary procedures, (or shame you for not flossing! ) She is a creative problem solver and has an excellent mind. You have to try so hard to find the enchanted dentist. I found mine, and Dr. Darya is her. This office is so special, Jill the office manager makes sure get the appointments I need. I feel very cared for and heard! The dental assistant Nhi in on top of things, and she make sure I don't get too waterloged as she is always ready with suction! Dr. Darya does her own cleanings, and I can just tell she cares and my health besides my teeth. The office pays a lot of attention to being a safe place in the era of Covid. Best dental experience I have ever had! I had a complicated relationship with the dentist as a child. As a result, I avoided even basic dental procedures, even as a young adult. Last year when I decided enough was enough, I looked to the internet for someone who had favorable reviews. There, I found Dr. Ghafourpour! I decided to book an appointment and I haven't looked back since! I replaced all (3+) old silver fillings, received deep cleaning and gum treatments, and even had my chipped front tooth fixed (I actually cried in the chair). After all of this, I wanted to discuss the need for braces, and I appreciate Dr. Ghafourpour's honesty. She said I could get braces/Invisalign if I wanted, but they weren't medically necessary. This moment, and others, speak to her integrity as a provider. She ensures her plan to provide a healthy smile is aligned with the patient's needs and cosmetic goals. The staff (shout out to Jill!!) and Dr. Ghafourpour are the best of the best. They communicate clearly and efficiently for appointments, inform patients of costs BEFORE procedures are completed, and they're just nice people! We can all use a little of that these days. There are two things I like most about Dr. Ghafourpour's practice: cleanliness and a gentle touch. Great care is taken to ensure all staff are protected, and the equipment is sanitary and in excellent condition. Nothing is worse to me than having questions about my dentist's hygiene and the cleanliness of the equipment. This has never been an issue with Dr. Ghafourpour's office. The Doctor and staff wear all necessary protective gear to make me absolutely comfortable with all contact during procedures. Quite simply, this is the cleanest and most hygienic dentist I have been to. Dr. Ghafourpour also has a gentle and caring touch. I really appreciate this as my teeth are quite sensitive and it does not take much to make me jump if poked or prodded in the wrong way. I used to have to buck up to go to the dentist, as they would brutalize my gums in a routine cleaning, let alone that horrible gum-measuring poking prodding business that seems to be all the rage these days. Not any more! Dr. Ghafourpour is gifted with the gentlest touch, so gentle that it makes you wonder if stuff is really happening in there. But it is. It's just magic I guess. I haven't had any heavy duty work done by her yet, so I can't say much about that---you know, numbing, sedating, drilling, extracting, implanting sorts of fun. What a great start to 2017! I have a new dentist and a perfect new front tooth thanks to Dr. Ghafourpour. I have relocated from Los Angeles in the past year and dental visits to me are synonymous with beauty makeover episodes on talk shows. You walk in for a cleaning and leave wondering if you need veneers, rhinoplasty and a new rack. And yes, I am still talking about dentistry. Imagine my sheer delight when I walked out of Dr. Ghafourpour's office today looking and feeling better! The cap came off my front tooth on the evening of December 26th, a very inconvenient time with all dental offices closed through the holidays. I called referrals and then took to Yelp in desperation; I don't do hillbilly well! I admit I ended up at the office of Dr. Ghafourpour due to a mix of good reviews and availability; she was open today while all others were closed. I went in prepared to ask for a consult and possibly hold out for a few more days and follow up with referrals from friends and family. It was immediately clear to me I was in the right place. Leonora welcomed me in reception and was very kind, informative and efficient. I won't bore you with every detail, fast forward to Dr. Ghafourpour. I showed her my problem, she gave me several options ranging from the most inexpensive and temporary to longer term solutions. I felt no pressure or influence either way, it was all informative and exactly what I asked from her. I went with quick fix and will upgrade the next time I have the same problem. This is exactly what you want when you are talking about your front tooth. She perfectly matched the color of the filling to the rest of my teeth and even did a little evening of my neighboring front tooth so I am symmetrical. I hate the dentist. That's kinda standard, right? When the pain in my tooth became something I had to deal with, I surveyed my Marin friends and came up with Dr. Ghafourpour - or, as she is now known to me; "Dr. AWESOME!". Seriously, this was the best dental experience I've ever had - she is kind, gentle, funny and (most importantly) a really good dentist. Extensive drilling and filling with NO PAIN and no discomfort afterwards. The receptionist and hygienist were nice and super friendly and I felt comfortable from the get-go. Dr Ghafourpour did some work on me before I went onto medicare and after, the coverage I had required me to go elsewhere. That service I did not like so I decided to pay for my dental coverage through an individual plan and go back to Dr Ghafourpour. I am Happy I did. She takes things slow and explains well. Office is close by and easily gotten to. I had one negative. I was possibly interested in invisaline and she said I could get a tooth form done for nothing so I did it. Then I saw it wasn't for nothing but the dental plan I had paid for a tooth form. I wouldn't have had it done if I knew my dental plan had to pay. Let me preface this by saying I flippin' hate going to the dentist. Creeps me out, I get anxiety, want to pass out, be drugged out-- you get the drift. I found Dr. Ghafourpour via 1800Dentist and my search criteria was a dentist in Marin that offered the gas. I showed up (no small feat) and immediately felt at ease by their state of the art yet mellow environment, and mostly, by Dr. G's lovely and highly competent demeanor. I told her I was freaked out, she understood, and I asked for the gas. Turns out 1800Dentist had it wrong, and much to my dismay, they don't offer it. Anyhow, she convinced me to give it a whirl sans gas and amazingly enough, I was fine! I'm happy to report that I've been going to Dr. Ghafourpour for several years now. Regularly. My pearly whites are perfect. Her front office gal, Lenora is wonderful -- stays on top of my insurance like it was her own money. And get this: Dr. Ghafourpour, as busy as she is (she also teaches dental students) she is the first -- and only dentist I've ever known in my short but speeding lifetime who actually cleans your teeth herself! I guess she wants to really know what's going on rather than just the quick check after the polish (her well-trained assistants do the flossing/polishing). Suffice it to write that I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Darya G. Ghafourpour. I rarely, if ever write reviews but she's so exceptional that I just wanted to share the love. Now after this review I hope I'll still be able to get in the next time I'm in pain. I remember back in my high school days a familiar commercial that used to run in the late 90's come see Dr. so and so the Dentist with the "Angels Touch". I often thought this was funny as if you could really go to a cold Dentist office where they poke and prod you in some of the most awkward and flat out uncomfortable ways! Pain Pain Pain is the only memory I had of Dentist as they would smile and wave on my way out as if they got some sort of sick enjoyment out of the pain they just put me through..arrghh!! Well I am here to tell you those days are over!!! To the steal the phrase "Angels Touch" would be a disservice to Dr. Darya Ghafourpour, never in my life could I say that I was excited and looked forward to my next dental appointment until now Dr. Darya and her staff have re-wired my brain for good and totally destroyed any fears or mixed emotions that I've carried for years about these godforsaken places. The office is warm and personable a great place to walk into and immediately feel comfortable, it's clean and always has an aroma of healing in the atmosphere. I have been going to this dentist for several years now even bringing my son to see her. At first everything was great and the office staff was very friendly however I started noticing that she was performing things that she knew my insurance would not cover such as a deep cleaning and extra X rays that's weren't necessary. The most recent visit I had will be my last... I took my son in for his cleaning while I was there they asked me if I would like to go ahead and get my teeth cleaned. I told them that due to a recent surgery I didn't believe I had any insurance coverage left and I made it clear that I did not want to to anything that would not be covered as I was unemployed at the time and did not want any out of pocket expenses. Both the office manager and Dr Ghafourpour said they understood and wouldn't do anything "extra" while I was in the chair she said that she wanted to do some X rays I again reminded her about my insurance situation. Well about a month later I received a bill for $175! Needless to say that is not okay with me. I tried to call and speak with them I left a message on the voicemail asking for a call back to discuss my bill. I did not receive that call back but instead received a letter informing me that they received my message and my bill is past due and I was expected to pay. I went into the office to discuss the situation, the office manager Lenorre claimed she remembered the visit and our conversation she even remembered that the Dr was part of that conversation. When Dr Ghafourpour came out to talk to me however the story changed and both of them claimed I never discussed my concerns with them. I explained that thus is unacceptable and that there isn't any way I could pay this bill. Dr Ghafourpour said oh well I remember you saying the money wouldn't be an issue (does that sound like the unemployed? ) then she said I would be expected to pay half once I told her I felt that I should not pay anything for this she finally agreed and said she would write it off. I would not recommend this office to anyone after the troubles I have been through here and the fact that they feel they can charge whatever they wish and think you have to pay no matter what. Zero Stars - Unscrupulous. My first and last visit to her was a rude awakening to what extents a professional person is capable of. During my exam she placed a 12" metal rod against one of my lower canine teeth saying it was a test. When I got home I noticed that that tooth now had a dark brown stain on it the size of a BB (visible whenever my mouth was open). Don't know if it was fear or what, but she messaged my phone machine 4 or 5 times a week for the next few months wondering why I hadn't returned. The dentist that eventually filled this FAKE CAVITY attributed it to her not yet having a paying practice yet. read more

I am a 51 year old man who has never really been excited about visiting the dentist. Dr. G and her staff are so professional and fun to be with that I just about forget I'm at the dentist. My concerns are listened to and discussed thoroughly. The evaluation of what's going on with my teeth is very extensive.
