Panicking that I was about to see everyone for Badge Day, I didn't want to look shaggy. There like a beacon of light, in big blue letters, read the words Beauty Clinic right on Jamaica Ave. In smaller blue letters, I spotted they do eyebrow threading. Now, a certain level of trust usually goes into these brows, but at this point I was desperate. So I hopped on over and asked for someone to clean these bad boys up. The place itself isn't that pretty, but it seemed clean. There was someone waiting, I believe to get their hair done. I was able to pop right in the chair and go. I wish I got the woman's name that did them. They are the best I've seen in a while. She didn't hurt me in the slightest. She didn't yell at me for holding my brows wrong. And finally, the lotion they used was light and not greasy. Best part...... IT WAS FIVE DOLLARS!!!!!! What in the world. You need to flock here. I know I'm coming here from now on.

Lotus is clean and there are plastic wall partitions between seats; masks are required and there is hand sanitizer at the entrance. With regards to COVID, the only critique I really have is that the string used for threading is still held between the employees' lips. I accompanied my friend to another salon, and at this other salon, the employees wore masks that allowed them to loop the string through the mask itself, so that there's no contact between their lips and the string that's touching your face. That would feel safer and more sanitary. I've gotten my eyebrows threaded farther out on LI, and paid probably 3x (if not more) the price than at Lotus! I guess since there was no competition in the immediate vicinity, they took advantage and really hiked up their prices. Between LI and NYC, Hillside Avenue on LI is probably the best place to get threading done because the prices cannot be beat!

Her attitude has been an issue every single time. Very rough and abrasive when doing the service, The icing on the cake is that she ripped out my nose piercing, wouldn't stop for a moment and let me put it back in, rushed me saying there are other customers waiting, and wasn't a speck of sorry for what she did. She didn't even finish the job properly, she rushed me out a few minutes after and I still had unwanted hair that she didn't get to. She then expected a tip, and got upset when I explained why I didn't tip her. A tip for ripping out my piercing out of your haste and carelessness? A tip for rushing me and my service? I usually go soon after they open which is 9:30 before they get super busy. Everyone is so nice! In early August, I got a mani-pedi which Ginny did. Afterwards when my nails were drying, she gave me an extra long back rub without extra price and it was amazing! Best back rub ever and I will definitely make an appointment with her for a private session in the future! Last week I went and Ginny was off. I had Lisa and she was so patient, helping me pick out the color I needed to match the dress I was wearing to a party the following day. It wasn't a color I would ever pick myself and it matched my dress perfectly!! My friend and I arrived very early and they took us right away even though it was busy already. When my nails were dry I paid and left Lisa a tip and while putting my money back I smudged 2 nails so she fixed them. Upon drying my nails for another ten mins I asked her if they were dried and she touched one and that one got smudged. Lisa very patiently fixed that finger waiting in between the clear polish and the actual nail polish. When the nails were dried after the second time, I tried to give her an additional tip and she wouldn't take the money. Everyone complimented my nails at the party and it is now my favorite shade. Thank you so much, Lisa! I usually have trouble sitting still when my nails are drying, but the atmosphere is so calming and I felt so relaxed watching the fish swim in their big tank.

I've been here a few times, so I feel I can give a pretty credible review by this point…read more The employees here are sweet and will go out if their way to make sure they provide as close to the look you were going for as possible. For the most part. During my most recent appointment, I was going for a more nautical look, and I wanted a small gold starfish on the nail. Hand-drawn is what I had in mind, but I was told they could only stick these tiny stars on the nail. Cute, but not the look I was going for. Anyway, I still got a somewhat nautical look, and they were great in helping me find a glittery gold for my ring finger nails (a bit darker than in the picture from which I got my idea - and I showed them this picture - but it worked well enough for me). So the prices that I'm aware of: At the time of this writing, ~$12 for a regular manicure; $23 for a pedicure; $30 for a gel manicure; $5/nail for designs. I believe you can pick up to 2 colors without an additional charge (no design), but would be charged if it's 3+ colors. Please double check on that because I'm not entirely sure. I also wanted to comment on the massage they give that it seems most nail salons provide after your nails have been worked on. They give pretty good massages - they actually work on your soft tissue, not "massage" bony areas, something I've experienced at another salon (and that was a bit painful!). The salon seems to be pretty accommodating, whether you make appointments by phone or walk in (for the latter, they'll see you so long as there is availability, meaning empty seats and enough nail techs). Lastly, there appear to be regulars that the nail techs are familiar with. BUT, contrary to another particular salon (will not name drop, but *hint* it may or may not be the only other salon I've reviewed by this point), they don't show seem to show favoritism or blow off other customers in favor of serving these regulars.

When we got there the owner kept on trying to tell us to get powder or gel x we repeatedly said we wanted uv gel if she could do it she said yes. The owner is the only one who can do uv gel and this wasn't discussed on the call but she waited till we are there to say I have to wait till she's done with my sister so she can start me. So what's the point of making an appointment? I value her time so I show up on time but clearly she doesn't value her customers time. Once she was done with my sister she started mine. Since the beginning I knew she didn't know what she was doing cause the technique was awful. I told her don't even bother finish my nails just finish filling them cause respectfully they look horrible . She kept trying to tell me they didn't but they did. I was going to pay for a uv gel service and she applied the uv gel but since she didn't know how to apply it she ended up filling all and I was just left with a coat of the gel nail polish on my nails. Really terrible experience. Don't waste your customers time if you can't do a service don't force it.
