My…read morefirst visit was about 9 years ago to help me figure out the right running shoe and orthotic combination to help get someone with 2 protruding discs in their back and who was never a runner through their first ironman. It worked and 9 years later I still recommend SoleFit to anyone from the Ottawa area that think they may benefit or want to learn more about orthotic. My recent visit was to help me figure out why my calf muscle had partially atrophied at some point in the last 3 years and how to help regain an unexplained loss of flexibility in the same ankle. After a detailed history since the last visit with Ryan and an examination of my mobility, Ryan provided an extremely educational explanation of the intricate biomechanics of the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the foot and the interrelation with the nervous system and why it is so important to follow a holistic program to recover and maintain mobility. Ryan demonstrated different strategies that I can use at home in concert with various therapies (flossing, ART, massage, stretching) and then performed and amazing treatment on my ankle. Two minutes later I could feel a stretch in my atrophied calf for the first time in at least 5 years. I am so thankful to SoleFit for this tremendous service. I made an appointment back in the Spring of 2015 at the Kent St location since it's close to my…read morework and I was experiencing foot pain (that I was assuming was plantar fasciitis). I found the person answering the phone (to set up the appointment) to be not very polite nor client-service oriented. It felt like my call was an inconvenience. When I got to the appointment, I found the person there to be also lacking in client service basics. I did most of the talking and asking questions, to which I received not very helpful nor complete answers. He did the assessment using the mat on the floor, showed me the computerized imaging on the screen, then told me about their deal on orthotics. He seemed surprised that I didn't order some right away. I left with a card so I could look at the footwear selection online (Footmaxx). I was not impressed with my experience, but the deal sounded good and I liked the look of the sandals available, so I called back to place an order. The person on the phone could find no record of my 'file' but took down my info and order information to look into it and get back to me and I never heard from them again. :/ NOT impressed and would definitely not recommend them to anyone. I've since taken my business to another clinic that has been super helpful and client service-oriented. I gather this is a fairly competitive market to take advantage of people with benefits coverage for orthotics, so no need to support a company that has such poor client service standards.
